Isn't it about time for an all-in-one webcam and software solution designed to make video calling easy for everyone? Wait no more. Easy set up
Logitech video calling software lets you install and call in half the time.
Vid keeps things simple from the start. It's set up when your webcam is. So you're ready to call right away. In fact, you can set up Vid in half the steps it takes with major instant-messaging services. When you make a call, Vid connects you to friends using their email addresses. No screen names, extra accounts to create, or third-party software to download. And Vid works whether you're using a PC or a Mac computer, a stand-alone webcam or a built-in one.
One-click calling without extra steps and hassles.
Other free software offers video calling as another hard-to-find feature in a long list of features. Vid presents a simple, intuitive interface where every element is designed to help you make a video call the moment your webcam is ready. Each of your contacts is represented by a thumbnail picture. Simply click the picture of the person you want to contact and Vid starts your video call. Click. Chat. Simple as that.

Invite and add friends using their email address. It's free and that simple.
Vid software is free with your new or existing Logitech webcam. It's also free for everyone you invite to connect with you, regardless of what webcam they have. Want to add a friend to your call list? Simply choose “Add a friend” to send them an email invitation and software link. Once they sign up, you're both set for free one-click calling—no strings attached.
Clear video chats
Clear, full-screen viewing powered by the Logitech SightSpeed network.
All of this simplicity is powered by the Logitech SightSpeed network, a groundbreaking framework designed specifically for video calling. It's also how Logitech Vid can deliver clear video and audio without compromises or complications. See how real video calling can be with the Logitech Webcam C250 and Vid.
Logitech webcams—a better video calling experience by design
From the moment you make your first video call, you'll see why Logitech is the top choice of webcam users worldwide. Logitech designs every webcam from the ground up to give you dramatically clearer video and sound than other webcams at the same price. It's not just about features like lens quality, sensor resolution and software. It's how the sum of the parts adds up to a better video calling experience for you.
Enhanced VGA sensor for crisp, colorful video and snapshots
You want to look your best on camera. That's why Logitech designed this webcam with an enhanced VGA sensor. From the color of your eyes to the tone of your shirt, you'll be seen in crisp, colorful video that's as real as you. That goes for photos, too. Want to take a picture of your youngest to email to grandma? Simply press the snapshot button for colorful photos, software enhanced up to 1.3-megapixels.
Built-in microphone with RightSound Technology for clear conversations
You don't need to hassle with hooking up a separate microphone. It's built right into your webcam. Speak naturally and your every word will be heard loud and clear—even if there's distracting background noise in the room. It's automatically canceled, thanks to Logitech RightSound technology. So your friends and family never have to say, “I missed that. Can you say it again?”
Logitech Fun Filter video effects get extra smiles
Want to really surprise them when you call? Easy. Just use any of the Fun Filters included with your webcam. Put a fun spin on your live video image with splashes of neon or a laugh-out-loud fish-eye effect. You'll have so many effects to play with, you'll have as much fun picking them as your callers will have seeing them.
Integrated universal monitor clip works with any monitor or notebook
When it comes to practical design, Logitech doesn't miss a detail. The webcam clips easily and securely to widescreen multi-media monitors and ultra-thin notebooks alike. The clip even folds up, so you can also set the webcam on a flat surface like your desk or bookshelf.
Works with all instant messaging programs for hassle-free calling
All you need for video calling is the webcam, a high-speed Internet connection and software with video calling capability. We recommend Logitech Vid video calling software for fast, easy and free face-to-face connections. You can also download other IM programs online. Unlike some brands, Logitech webcams work with all instant messaging programs—yours and whomever you call, so getting connected is hassle-free.
Use Logitech Webcam C250 and free video-calling applications to be there “in person”, across town or across the world.
Seeing is believing with the Logitech Webcam C250. Includes free, easy video calling for you and everyone you want to call thanks to Logitech Vid. With an enhanced VGA sensor, you’ll get crisp, colorful video and snapshots at up to 1.3 megapixels (software enhanced). The built-in microphone with Logitech RightSound technology offers clear, headset-free conversations without annoying background noise. With Logitech Video Effects Fun Filters, you can add some fun to your video call with neon splashes, fish-eye distortions, and more. With its universal clip, your webcam attaches securely to LCD monitors and notebooks, or sits on a shelf or desk.
What Other Items Do Customers Buy After Viewing This Item?
This webcam was purchased for my Grandpa who is 89 and lives across the country. I'm the only person he knows with a webcam, so he didn't want to spend too much money and wasn't interested in a lot of bells and whistles. At the same time I was looking for something easy to setup and use.
There was no trouble setting it up, the installation disc was no problem to use. In fact, I believe the software disc that came with it may not have been required, as for us Skype has performed far better than Logitech's "Vid" calling software. This camera, as with most, is "USB Video Class". This means XP should install it by just plugging it's cable into the computer.
It has been easy to use as once the camera itself is installed all user functions are regarding your software of choice (e.g. Skype).
As for picture quality, I am able to tell a noticeable difference in picture sharpness between his Logitech C250 model (1.3 megapixels) and another friend's Logitech C905 model, which has 2 megapixels. Still a good picture for the price, as this is on the low(er) end of the line.
There have only been two slight issues in a month of use:
(1 It would not clip to his LCD flar panel monitor, so he folded the clip (as if to sit it on a flat surface, or CRT "box" monitor) and sat it on a shelf beside his screen.
(2 Occasionally it's light sensor seems to get confused and the picture will appear either red or green tinted. Moving the camera around or retarting the computer has fixed the issue every time (only 3 or 4 times in total) it has happened.
Hopefully this will be helpful to the next potential buyer. :-)
This is a good, entry level webcam for budget conscious purchasers. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of the more expensive cams - but it does a perfectly fine job for Skype or other VoIP systems.
This camera works great for my purposes, which is to skype my family in Europe. I don't normally read all of the technical specs to compare items. I just verify that it works with Windows 7,read the reviews and try to figure out which product I can spend the least money on and get my desired results. So, I decided that I ought to write one for this product. It was simple to install and worked immediately.
I don't know if other cameras have this feature, but it's has a "shade" so that the camera is not filming you unless you raise the shade.
I didn't load the VID software as my family are already on Skype. It works seamlessly with Skype.
Nice product, simple setup... ... cheap drivers though. In first instance it looks all right: You install the camera very fast. You are able to use it with skype without problems. You are totally happy!
But though, if you have low light conditions, the automatic sensibility/exposure settings don't work. With low-light you get flickering vertical white-lines (probably CCD or video-amp gets saturated due to wrong control/feedback loop). To overcome this "mess" you MUST turn off exposure-control auto-mode (under right-light configuration), and keep setting it manually. Bah!
Since 2009/10 I am waiting for the new logitech-driver, that should solve the problem... I still hope it will come out.
Bought this for our conference room to do video conferencing. Picks up sounds pretty well, good clarity on Medium resolution. Was afraid would have to buy a seperate microphone, but no need to now. High Res does slow down our connection, but we have AT&T so that could be another reason why it slows down.
I wanted to do Skype on my main computer with family rather than my little netbook, so needed a webcam. I chose this based on good history with Logitech. It works very well with my Ubuntu Linux 10.04 workstation, was recognized out of the box without any need to install drivers. Also works, even better, in Google+ Hangouts.
Quite inexpensive but very good quality. It was quick and easy to set up using the included disk. I like how you can use both the camera and the built in microphone together, the mic alone, or the video alone. When I talk with friends online, I often just use the microphone alone. It also has a few neat little features like making your video appear like an old fashion movie or if you leave for the moment, you can always replace your video with a picture of something on your computer. That's also good for showing someone pictures while you talk to them.
Oh, by the way, I have a windows vista so if you have a vista, it will definitely work.
