4.0 out of 5 stars Nice upgrade purchase for my system
Pros: Keyboard and mouse design are excellent. Bought product to match Samsung LCD I purchased over Christmas. Did not have to load CD SW for XP to recognize KB/Mouse. Transmitter matches and sits on LCD stand and is almost invisible to the eye. I have not had battery problems with either unit so far. Use my computer for a couple of hours a day, original batteries are...

3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Keyboard ... Heavy Ho Mouse!!!, April 29, 2005
This review is from: Logitech Cordless Desktop - Black (Personal Computers)
I received my LX300 Wireless Desktop yesterday. The moment I opened the covers, I realized how light the whole product felt. I was happy. The keyboard is excellent. It's light, and wears a nice professional looking black color. There are so many useful pre-programmed buttons, which launches commonly used programs like Outlook, Word, Media Player, browser. To top it, there are 4 extra buttons which you can program to open your own choice of applications. Oh man, how much I love this keyboard!! And all these niceties without the clutter of wires dangling around from the back of my laptop. I have tested the keyboard as far as 15 feet away and it WORKS!! Now the mouse: In short, an obese spoilsport. Nowhere near it's talented lean looking brother (keyboard). The moment you touch the mouse, you feel like moving a heavy pebble beside a riverside. Blame the two heavy AA batteries for this. The mouse is also, not very accurate. All of a sudden and out of the blue, the pointer wanders away on its own sweet trail. There is a slight noticeable lag too. You cannot rely on this mouse to do any accurate stuff like removing red eye in Adobe Photoshop. In brief, a good purchase, if you can live with the fat mouse.
The keyboard is a gem.

UPDATE: FOR MAC USERS
---------------------------
Beware, Mac users.

Although the specs say its "Designed for XP", it still works with a Mac, nonetheless.
But if you are thinking to use it with a Mac, be prepared for a frustrating experience.
Occasionally, Mac OS X will fail to "recognize" the wireless unit and you have to set up the whole thing again. When it is connected, the lag of the mouse is very noticeable. And the keyboard is also not spared. This lag can be really frustrating, since 99.99% of your time you are using either one of the two or both. The colorful spinning ball will greet you everytime you comeback to your Mac after a break. All the features like scrolling, program keys work, but you wont have the "smooth" feeling using them.

Out of this disgusting computing experience, I just disconnected the whole Logitech unit from my Mac minutes back and connected the matching white Apple keyboard and mouse (USB, wired). This all-black logitech wireless combo does not even look good with an all-white Mac desktop!!! :-)

So, Mac users, buy something Mac compatible which is clearly mentioned in the specs. Logitech has other wireless comBos that are designed for a Mac.

But NOT THIS one, DEFINITELY.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PURCHASE.
MAY YOUR HARD-EARNED BUCKS FIND TRUE VALUE FOR MONEY.

Use my computer for a couple of hours a day, original batteries are still in use after 2 weeks. No lag with either keystrokes or mouse cursor movements. Best of all, no wires. Would have rated it 5 stars but for the con below.

Cons: The mouse started to "squeek" after a couple of days. I didn't realize what other reviewers were talking about until my mouse actually did it. It sounds like a slight plastic on plastic sound. It did bug me after a while so, I carefully opened the mouse, and put some 3-in-one oil from the inside on the square left and right clicking posts and re-assembled unit. Be carefully to keep the bottom part of the mouse upright so the springs on the wheel stay in place. I had to put the mouse wheel assembly back together when I turned the bottom portion upside down, not a big deal when I figured how to put the things back in after a few minutes. No more squeeking has occurred since I lubricated the right and left clicking portion on the side of the mouse.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Keyboard for everyday use, January 4, 2007
This review is from: Logitech Cordless Desktop - Black (Personal Computers)
This keyboard just plain works...we use them in our home office...great for working at the kitchen table, etc.

The keys have just the right amount of sound and feel...not mushy and not silent...if you like a no noise keyboard, don't get this one. I like the sound feedback...

Good battery life--usually a couple months...depends on use, but the keyboard lasts twice or three times as long as the mouse...the mouse is emitting the laser...it takes more power...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Keyboard, Bad Mouse, December 13, 2005
This review is from: Logitech Cordless Desktop - Black (Personal Computers)
This cordless desktop has a good keyboard, but the battery life on the mouse is appalling. It lasted hardly a month before it needed to be replaced. The battery on the keyboard, however, seems to go on forever.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Happy With This Item, January 12, 2007

This review is from: Logitech Cordless Desktop - Black (Personal Computers)
This keyboard has small keys and doesn't stand up enough. It worked fine but I wasn't comfortable with it. The legs that make it stand are not high enough and I don't like typing with a flat keyboard. Didn't like the feel of the keys either. Like I said, it worked just fine with no problems but the feel of it wasn't what I wanted. Just not happy with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Logitech's Desktop, Cheap But Still Quality, January 5, 2006
By
This review is from: Logitech Cordless Desktop - Black (Personal Computers)
I was pretty much looking for any inexpensive wireless mouse and keyboard. I saw this to be one of the most inexpensive (I won't say cheap) ones avaliable.

As far as communciation, so far it has been excellent. The mouse took a restart to connect but everything connected and went smoothly.

The keyboard is pretty much your standard keyboard but with additional features. The media feature does not seem to work, my guess is that it works for MusicMatch since it is on the CD. The play/pause button will pause and play your music, this worked in all of my music programs (Windows Media and RealPlayer). The mute and voulme controls worked perfectly. There is a favorites button to open your browser's favorites, the e-mail button open Outlook Express, and the www button goes to your home page.

The mouse is your basic mouse with a scroll. So far it has been very accurate with the reciever, though don't be too suprised if your photo editing gets rough a few times. It is optical and it does not need a trackball and uses a laser.

One of the negatives is the battery life. It is around the area were AA batteries last, which is 15-20 hours. This is ok for some users, but for people using the computer daily for a few hours, that would mean you would have to replace the mouse around 2 times a week, which could get costy. The keyboard doesn't run the entire time you use the computer so it shouldn't be too bad.

It is compatible with Windows 95 and above as well as the latest Mac operating systems. The keyboard can be run on USB or the PS/2 Port but the mouse must use the PS/2. The USB is the slim long port and the PS/2 port (usually colored) is the circle port.

As far as the CD, it contains software but chances are your computer has them already from the Control Panel. There is some adware along with the CD as well. I wold just leave the install CD alone and just plug-and-play.

Overall, this set does have a few quirks, but it is definitely worth the low-cost. 4 stars.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad construction of the mouse, March 8, 2005
This review is from: Logitech Cordless Desktop - Black (Personal Computers)
I bought the Logitech Cordless Desktop at Target set because I felt it would be nice to have a Keyboard and Mouse that do not tug if I get tangled wires. It is nice, after all. However, I found that this set is definately not the way to go if you play games or have any program where you may need to hold the moues button.

After returning two of these sets already, the mouse seems fine after 5 days, but it soon starts to squeek louder and louder after you hold down the buttons. (Such as controlling your character on World of Warcraft, as in my case.) The noise is tolerable at first, but you find yourself soon surfing the internet and having this horrible mouse screach at you every time you click everywhere. While I am typing this review on this terrible product, I am taking this back tommorow and getting the Microsoft cordless keyboard and mouse set... $20 more, but you get what you pay for.

I recommend a different product, or better yet, a completely different brand altogether. Logitech has let me down horribly.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good value for a cordless setup, December 19, 2006
This review is from: Logitech Cordless Desktop - Black (Personal Computers)
I've been a big fan of Logitech keyboards, mice/trackballs for years. I've been using this cordless setup with a notebook PC at work all day every day for 3 months and it hasn't had a hiccup yet. It has performed very well, but I must say that the mouse feels a bit clunky compared to the other Logitech mice that I've used. (I did buy the least expensive Logitech cordless kb/mouse combos that I could find to use at work, so I'm sure that my cheapness is the main problem!). Although the mouse "feels" a bit clunky when clicking, it works perfectly. So far I haven't needed to change batteries yet, after 3 months of use 40+ hours per week.

1.0 out of 5 stars disappointed with the mouse, July 14, 2005
This review is from: Logitech Cordless Desktop - Black (Personal Computers)
Though I like the keyboard, I've found two serious problems with the mouse. First, it is very sensitive to movement. I've tried making some adjustments but it is still difficult to control. Finally and more importantly, the mouse burns a set of AA batteries about every 8 days. I only use the mouse about 6 hours a week so I should be getting a lot more battery life. I've bought other Logitech products and have been pleased with them but in this case I wish I had bought another brand.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Logitech Cordless Desktop - Black (Personal Computers)
I know this product was shipped to me but because UPS did not read the messages I left with directions of where to deliver the product. UPS shipped it back to the owner. The item was shipped right out to me by the buyer so I feel like they did everything right. Also Amazon has bad customer service.
