Excellent keyboard with a small footprint, October 21, 2007
This review is from: Logitech 967568-0403 OEM Usb Ultra X-Flat Spill Resistant Media Keyboard - Black/Silver (Personal Computers)
I bought this keyboard to replace my giant Logitech multimedia keyboard that I bought a few years ago. I realized that I never use the extra keys and the fancy rounded edges just take up extra space.
There seems to be a few versions of the Logitech UltraX. The one that I received looks like the picture, but the backspace key is the wider kind that takes up two spaces.
Pros:
- Slim profile thanks to the laptop-style keys.
- Very small foot print. My desk feels a lot bigger with this keyboard.
- It's just a good, solid, standard keyboard: wide backspace key, no weird F-lock button, no extra scroll wheels or crazy stuff like that.
Cons:
- The positioning feels slightly wider even though the keyboard is smaller. I can't quite figure it out, but I noticed that I can't reach the End key with my pinkie anymore.
- The laptop-style keys take a little getting used to if you're coming from a standard keyboard.
For the price, it's excellent. Right now, it's $25.45 so even non-Prime members can get free shipping on this.

Best I can find, May 8, 2008
This review is from: Logitech 967568-0403 OEM Usb Ultra X-Flat Spill Resistant Media Keyboard - Black/Silver (Personal Computers)
I love laptop keyboards (good ones, that is.) This is the closest and best I can find to a laptop-style flat keyboard for my desktop. It's nice and flat, with short key travel (but not too short.)
The only problem is that the frame is perfectly rigid, and thus hard on the fingers. Many laptops have a slight flex to the whole surface... most people probably think it's a bad thing, but I find it cushions your finger pecks just enough to make it more comfortable to use. This doesn't have that flex, so sometimes my fingertips hurt after a long typing session. I wish I could just "type lighter", but when I try I find it hard and I'm not sure why... something about this keyboard just isn't conducive to that.

Best keyboard I have ever owned, April 10, 2008
This review is from: Logitech 967568-0403 OEM Usb Ultra X-Flat Spill Resistant Media Keyboard - Black/Silver (Personal Computers)
The Logitech Ultra X-Flat is the standard issue keyboard at the large technology firm where I work.
At first, I wasn't used to this keyboard. It feels more like it belongs on a particularly nice laptop than a keyboard, although it's probably slightly larger than that on a typical laptop. But after four months of use, I just love how it feels. It's light and the keys are very easy to press. Just recently, I purchased my own for home use.
I did experience one minor issue. After a week of use, one of the keys started to stick once in a while, if only for a moment. The problem resolved itself after about a week -- I have no idea how, but it simply stopped. (Maybe I had to "break" the keyboard in.)
