That's where the Logitech Speaker System Z313 comes in. Twin satellite speakers and a compact subwoofer make it easy to bring your music and entertainment to life. You have plenty of power to fill your room with clean, rich sound—and a handy control pod to turn up the volume the moment the music moves you. From crisp high notes and warm mid-tones to deep, thumping bass, you'll never miss a beat, note or nuance. Just plug it in, kick back and enjoy big, balanced audio.

Key Features

Convenient control pod with headphone jack for easy volume and listening control
Sometimes you like your music to play softly in the background. Other times, you're in the mood to crank it up. Either way, the control pod puts total volume control at your fingertips. You can also turn the power on and off at the touch of a button. And when you want to listen in privacy, just plug your headphones into the built-in jack and you're good to go.

25 watts of powerful, crystal-clear sound
You don't have to choose between "not enough power" and paying for more power than you need. With 25 watts (RMS), you have just the right amount of power to fill the room. And feel free to turn it up. You music will stay perfectly balanced and richly detailed—even at full volume.

Compact subwoofer delivers deep bass in a small space
You won't need a lot of room to fill yours with rich, resonant bass. Thanks to the ported, down-firing design, your subwoofer produces the big, deep lows that make music, movies and games more exciting. Yet, it's small enough to easily fit in a tight space, tucked away under a desk or bed. So you get the big sound experience without the clutter.

Easy setup, right out of the box
Your new speaker system makes great sound simple from the start. Just plug the satellite speakers into the subwoofer, and the subwoofer into your computer. That's it. In two minutes, you're set for endless hours of listening nirvana.

    Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
This Logitech Z313 is referred as a 2.1 speaker system (2 satellite speakers plus 1 sub-woofer). If you want to hear deep bass in your music, a sub-woofer is a must, and it should be placed on the floor for best results. Compared to Logitech's Z520 2.0 (only 2 speakers, no sub-woofer) speaker system, which I recently also tested, it is quite apparent that Z313 has much deeper bass, although the Z313 system costs less than half the price of the Z520. If you listen to music at relatively low to normal sound volume, I would recommend the Z313. At higher volumes, the satellite speakers will not be able to crank out sound loud enough, and most of what you will hear are thumps from the sub-woofer. The Z520 is capable of much louder music without distortion; perhaps that's why it costs a lot more than the Z313.

4.0 out of 5 stars What a great little set of speakers with a BIG sound! September 24, 2009
    Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
When I received this box and saw how small it was -- I was a little leary wondering how such a little set of speakers and sub-woofer would come through. I wanted to replace a much bulkier system that had extremely long and cumbersome wires and a sub-woofer twice as big.

I loved the sound of this set but noticed some hum coming from the wiring to the sub-woofer. I realized that it had to be a grounding issue on my side and it seems to have dissipated. When I got all of my volume controls set up, I was pleased to hear some beautiful The Art Of The Guitar - Sabicas (Digitally Remastered) Sabicas Flamenco to test the highs and the lows.

While this does not have the same sound quality of my larger system (a Scott surround sound system) it is also very different. The Logitech Z313 speakers are small and light and made of plastic through and through. The speakers are very nice looking and will compliment most towers or notebooks today with a silver and black design.

The sub-woofer is much more sturdy and smaller than most. This is great if you want to use this system with your docked laptop.

Don't expect the world out of this system - you won't be paying a bundle, this is an economical system for sure. But expect compactness, crisp sound quality for what these are and a great price. Definitely not high end ... but for a general speaker set and sub-woofer for a laptop or desktop, good stuff! You'll also enjoy the little pod remote (which is unfortunately attached to another wire on the system, thus making it more difficult to maneuver) to control volume and on/off functions. It's cute and functional.

    Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)

Well, Logitech definitely tried to go for clarity with these speakers. But...
    --------------------------
Z313: Treble/highs dominant - can sound flatter/definitely not as much depth compared to X-230. Relies too much on the subwoofer for bass (looks like they took some of the qualities of the X-230 and X-240, and this speaker was born)

X-230: Bass dominant - Best surround sound feel/for parties/etc. (kind of odd how a really old model is still more impressive)

X-240: Just overall flat - felt really muffled - least impressive.
    --------------------------

The Z313 is easily better than the disappointing X-240 (with the gimmick iPod cradle), but I still feel the X-230 set the bar in this price range/2.1 speakers.

Unlike the X-230, there is no option to turn the speakers into a wall mount. The X-230 was just quite impressive for its category. There is no knob to control the bass either (only a volume control on the remote). The subwoofer is similar to the X-240 with it being exposed, which I don't necessarily like. I also wish the remote could be detached instead of being pre-wired to the subwoofer.

I was surprised how light and small the Z313 speakers were; it does look pretty good, but it did feel somewhat cheaper to me because of those factors. However, despite having low expectations from a small set of speakers, I was somewhat impressed because I did, at least, still feel some surround sound -- unlike the X-240. The subwoofer is also slightly smaller in size than the X-230. When compared to the X-230, however, the sound does not feel as dynamic because the X-230 still contains more speaker drivers + bass.

Overall? It's a great value if you pay less than $50. Bass and midtones sound beautiful, but Trebles (16000-20000Hz frequency range) do sound 'flat'. Adjusting the equalizer on the computer to increase the treble about 33% is an adequate workaround.

    And now, for the story:

My previous set of speakers started to sound a tad tinny, so it was time to replace them. (JBL Duet, (60-20000Hz frequency range).

I went to a big box store to get a good listen at available models.

I should let you know: Standing around and pointing your ear at 7 different speaker sets WILL draw the attention of any number of blue-shirted floorwalkers... unless they sell bionic ears or want me to go out on a date with them, they cannot help.

After 45 minutes of sampling various models, I came to a few conclusions:

    * Buy from amazon.com when possible. I'll explain why in a moment.

    * The Klipsch Promedia 2.1 model, at $150, had the BEST sound quality (at 31-20000Hz and well-sized speakers, that is incontrovertible), and whose volume could be ramped up to deafen everybody in the store. I mean, that's 200W - even if 135 of which is devoted to the subwoofer. Of course, people living in apartments would not appreciate a big subwoofer vibrating from a unit at the opposite end of the complex (oh, this subwoofer has POWER), and user reviews for this company, about product longevity and particularly build quality, turned me off.

    * The Insignia NS-PCS41, at $60, were actually very good (48-20000Hz frequency). This set even includes a separate volume control for the subwoofer. The problem is, despite being a listed product with their website claiming every store in the metro area carried them, no store location actually had them in stock.
