Caveat: this is my first bluetooth headset, so I can only compare it to second-hand accounds I've heard. I'm using it with a Sony-Ericsson T616 from Cingular. As always, Your Mileage May Vary.

The headset had no difficulty pairing with the phone - I had a little bit of trouble figuring out the menu structure on my phone (it had to be added as a headset rather than a generic bluetooth device). Once paired, the performace is spectacular:

* Range: I've heard many gripes about range with other headset models - this one actually exceeds the 10 meter range specified for bluetooth. I've left my phone downstairs in my living room, and walked to my upstairs bedroom and back with only a slight drop in sound quality. The only issue I have is using it in my car with my phone on my belt right next to my seat belt clip - that seems to cause some radio interference (this is most likely a problem that is not specific to this headset). Placing the phone in the center console while I drive solves the problem.

* Battery Life: Logitech claims 7 hours talk time. I've read reviews that claim 6 hours. I've not done any measurements, but I can say that battery life has never been an issue. I recharge the phone and headset every other day or so, and for all intents and purposes I can talk on the phone as much as I want (which can be quite a bit). In any case, it appears to be vastly superior to other headsets. The headset comes with a built-in lithium rechargeable battery that Logitech says is not user-replaceable and should last the life of the headset (famous last words). I'm not thrilled with that aspect, but if I get 2-3 years out of it I'll be happy.

* Comfort: The phone's "ear-clip" has two spring-loaded pieces that gently grip around your ear, and press the speaker against it. It took me about three days to stop noticing I was wearing the headset. I can wear the headset with sunglasses without any problems.

* Aesthetics: It's a pretty big headset and with the somewhat excessively-bright LED (blue), it's rather conspicuous. This doesn't bother me (it helps that my hair covers most of the headset), but you should be aware that this will draw some attention.

* Sound Quality: Top-notch. I strongly prefer using the headset rather than just using the phone by itself. I've used the headset in my car on the highway with the top down (I'm not a slow driver), and I can hear and be understood just fine. I have no problems using it with the voice-dialing features on my phone.

* Portability: It comes with a charging case and AC Adapter. This takes up (in my opinion) a rather excessive amount of space in your luggage when you travel. I wish they would have (or someone would come up with) a much more compact charging solution. On the other hand, the charging case appears to be strong enough to prevent damage to the headset while it's in transit.

Overall, the headset does wonderfully in the areas I find important - ease of use, sound quality, wireless range, and battery life.

Update: October 2005 - I've tried numerous other headsets (I'd like something smaller, etc), but keep coming back to this one. The sound quality and range simply can't be beat. Currently using it with a Treo 650.

Logitech has produced a great bluetooth headset. I was able to pair the device with my SE T610 on the first try and it worked perfectly. I was a little unsure about the device at first, because there is almost no description for the headset, and no picture. Not to mention that the price is well below what some other manufacturers are charging for products that don't have the battery life or quality, but went ahead and purchased it because of another good review. I would have rated this product at five stars if the status light were a little less conspicuous (maybe not on the outside of the headset). Something about a little blue flashy light on the headset draws people's attention.

PROS:
--great range
--great sound quality
--ease of use
--long battery life

CONS:
--status light on the outside of the headset
UPDATE-- the one major problem that I had with this headset was that the boom mic broke after being overextended.

5.0 out of 5 stars BATTERY LIFE, March 7, 2004

I have owned the Sony Ericsson HBH-60 and this logitech mobile bluetooth headset. I eBay'ed the HBH-60. Why? This headset has the longest battery life of all the bluetooth headsets, which means it is actually useful. Who cares if you have a bluetooth headset if it can only work for 1 or 2 hours at a time! This headset, if you charge it at night, is a headset you can take with you through the day to work (and night) and not worry if it will die on you.

The other pros/cons...don't matter as much. I have never had a problem with the boom mic, the charger is a bit clunky...but who cares! This headset has enough battery life that it gives you the most utility of all bluetooth headsets.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, November 23, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Logitech Mobile Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Update: 9/25/04 - I've had this bluetooth headset for almost 1 year now and I love it. I've own a Siemens S55 phone and I can't believe that people still hold their phones while they talk for long periods of time. It's extremely convenient while a) talking in bed, b) washing dishes, c) driving, d) anything that requires 2 hands. I've had times where I thought I lost it, but it was on my ear (really comfortable). I've recommended this exact item to 2 friends and they're both very happy with it.

This item is durable if you're not retarded (speaking from experience). Why would you try to turn it 360 degrees? Unless you're 5 years old, you won't have this problem.

They're updating this item with the Mobile Pro Headset that comes out in a few months.

Problems:
1) battery life is a little bit overestimated, it lasts a couple of hours max.
2) sometimes my connection gets lost and i have to turn my phone off/on (i think it's the phone's fault) to regain the connection
3) i've had 1 dropped call EVER where the bluetooth connection is lost and you have to use the phone (my friend with Sony Ericsson T616 says he has this problem sometimes)
4) have trouble with voice dialing, but it's mostly my phone's fault because i have the same problem without the headset

11/23/03 - Couldn't connect the first time so I turned it off and turned it back on. No problems connecting after that. Took like 2 minutes to setup the whole thing.

Pros:
-Small
-Light
-Comfortable
-Easy to put on
-Recharges fairly quickly
-Can use voice-dialing
-No static at all outside
-Microphone filters out sound
-Volume Control on device

Cons:
-Some static when used in same area as other devices that use Bluetooth frequency

Overall:
Very happy that I purchased this. Also, Amazon.com has the best price that I could find.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Available Headset, July 13, 2004
By

This review is from: Logitech Mobile Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This is my third bluetooth headset after Motorola HS-810 and Jebra 250. I absolutely love it. Here is the comparison:
Pairing: Pairing with my Sony Ericsson T610 was easy just as it was for Motorola and Jebra headsets. All three use 0000 as password for pairing so if you have done it with one, it won't be hard for any other one.
Sound Quality: Best of all. Crysp and clear sound. HS-810 had the worst sound with lots of crackling and high bass breaking sound. Jebra had some crackling but Logitech is very clear with almost no crackling. I was impressed.
Microphone: Again the best, I asked listener at the other end to rate the quality of my sound. Logitech again was best with its noise cancelling microphone. Jebra was second. Motorola again wasn't the best.
Comfort: I had a conference call with each of these three phones lasting more than an hour. Jebra was little heavier than Motorola and Logitech. Jebra's speaker sticking in ear becomes uncomfortable after some time. I found logitech most comfortable and lightest.
Battery Life: Logitech's 30 days life is beyond compare.
Price: $75 is almost 25% less than $99 Jebra and almost 40% less than $119 HS 810.
Cool Factor: IMHO HS810 is cool but too much attention grabber, Jebra is better since it hides behind your ear but I like Logitech which looks very much like a headset and I have to mention the cool case for storing Logitech headset. Very Cool and Safe.
I am really surprised to see that this set is not available at more outlets. I am sure that will change soon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exceeds expectations!, June 19, 2004

After reading reviews, I was expecting a delicate, balky headset with average sound and a huge charger base.

What I got was a headset that connected to my SonyEricsson T68i with no trouble, including voice dialing. The range is what you'd expect for Bluetooth, ~10m. The audio in both directions is much better than the wired earbud that came with the phone. Other reviews refer to the boom as fragile. If you treat it reasonably, there's no way you will break it. The "coffin" dock station is a plus, since I can stick it in a bag for travel and it will actually protect the headset. It is a little bulky next to the competition, but I knew that going in, and I prefer the "over-the-ear" style - I think it provides better outside noise muffling.

All in all, a good purchase. Also, I bought from Amazon with Free Super Saver shipping and expected to wait a week and a half...it arrived THE NEXT DAY :)

4 instead of 5 because of the bulky charger brick in addition to the dock station.

3.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't support hands free, October 9, 2004
This review is from: Logitech Mobile Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Be very careful when buying this model. I tried to set it up with my Nokia 6620, and although it paired okay my phone said that the device did not support the hands free option. There is no where, that I recall, on the Amazon site that warns of this. In fact when you go onto the Logitech web site and look under support the description says it does support hands free. When I rang Logitch about this they said that the model I have does not support it but they do have a model # 980179-1403 that does but it is on back order - it retails for $99.99.

So unfortunately I never got chance to test it out. Certainly it was comfortable to wear and the headset itself was light and not too large. The charging case is on the large side but protects the headset well. Making sure that the headset is securely on the charging connectors can be a little fiddly. I can see why some people may be concerned about the boom breaking, but the instructions do warn you not to rotate the boom past the "stop" point - you can easily feel this stop point and I don't see why anyone should willingly force the boom to rotate 360 degrees.

I ended up getting the Jabra 250 freespeak. It is also comfortable, only takes 2 hours to charge compared to 4 hours on the Logitech.

Logitech have the mobile pro headset coming out in October which looks good.

4.0 out of 5 stars No More Entangled Wires, June 5, 2004
This review is from: Logitech Mobile Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I have a SE T610 phone and bought this headset because I was constantly getting entangled by SE's wired Headset. Pairing this Bluetooth headset with the phone was a little bit of an adventure and frustrating at first. Just make sure you press "more" on the right hand side of the T-Mobile T610 phone and add it on in "Handsfree" mode. I initially just added the headset on generically without specifying the "Handsfree" mode and found the phone "deleting" the device after I would restart the headset and phone. But everything is fine and stable in "handsfree" mode.

The sound quality is very clear and I find the range to be decent. Moreover, this bluetooth headset works very well with the voice tags on the SE T610 phone. One need only touch the multifunction task button on the headset for one second to activate voice dialing. It works very well in my car and inside my house. When I walk outside sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I have not tried the included microphone covers yet. Perhaps that will help when I'm outside.

I have had problems getting the headset to respond to the "Answer" and "Busy" Voice Commands on the SE T610. But that is not a major issue. I just answer calls now by touching the multifunction task button.

I recommend this headset. But it is very geeky looking. I don't have a problem with that except when I'm with my girl and I feel like kissing her passionately. Moreover, anyone who could break the microphone off the headset has to be really forcing the issue against all common sense.

I have small ears so after 3 hours of use I feel some discomfit so I have to change the headset to my other ear. Then it is fine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just the best on the market, September 18, 2004
This review is from: Logitech Mobile Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I spend a lot of time on the cell phone...3000+ minutes/month. Most of the time is in the car (and mine has very loud road noise). I was able to pick up the new HP iPAQ PocketPC phone with bluetooth. I figured that since it had bluetooth, I'd go all the way with the headset also....after much research I settled on the Logitech...awesome choice!!! It fits really well and the volume it puts out is 2nd to none (I've had the one's with volume control). The only thing I don't like about it is that my voice command doesn't work very well. I've found that this is not the fault of the headset...it is a HP issue. I'll figure it out....but after many corded and non-corded headsets....this sets the standard. Very well done guys.

The title says it all. Sadly, Logitech tech support didn't seem to have any clue. Instead, they referred me to Nokia's tech support saying that Nokia would know more than they would.
