Works great on Windows 7 x64. I installed the UK drivers (downloaded from logitech UK website) and it integrates flawlessly with Skype. If you need Skype functionality, do not use the drivers from the CD in the box (due to some licensing disputes, it does not include Skype support.)
The quality of the speakers/mic is really good.

A co-worker let me know when this dropped down to under $10 on [...] - I bought it through Amazon with free super-saving shipping. My co-worker had it running on Windows XP, so I was a little worried since I'm running Windows 7 Pro.
I downloaded the Vista version of CallCentral from Logitech and installed it (when prompted during installation if I wanted to install CallCentral AND the drivers I chose both). The speakers worked fine, but the microphone wouldn't pickup any sound. After some snooping on the web, I uninstalled CallCentral and then re-installed it. This time, I right-clicked the installation file and chose "Troubleshoot compatibility" from the drop-down menu. It leads you through some steps, and I told it to run it as though it was running under Windows XP SP3. Installation went through fine and now it's working as planned! The mute button and volume knob both work. Sound quality appears to be fine, but I haven't used it extensively. For under $10 how can you go wrong?

Excellent, easy to use product,

In my company, we frequently (ie., several times daily) speak with people all over the globe. Some of us use speakerphones, some use headphones, and some of us use either, depending on what's handy. The only way I can tell the difference between what someone is using, is if the video is running. It is convenient, the sound is good. It is very practical. We never have a problem (Note, however, that we use XT. I have no experience with this with Vista.)

Just wanted to add a "me, too" review for this product. For the price, it's a great addition to the remote office crowd who need to make group voice chats with homebase.
As is mentioned, it appears that the Vista drivers work, and I can personally attest that the device works well on Windows 7 (64-bit). A quick search discovered that the file `callcentral1046_x64.exe` (available from [...]) can be unpacked with 7-zip and the Drivers directory extracted from it. Go ahead and plug in the device, and then use the Device Manager to update the driver to the directory inside. Certainly not "double-clicky", but not pain and suffering, either. I don't notice that the physical buttons on the device do anything, but that's probably not why you would buy this anyway. UPDATE: I can now attest after several international meetings via skype that it works great, just as the reviews say, and is really seamless with skype on windows. I am very glad I bought this, it really is a great addition for a fantastic price.

The easiest recommendation to anyone considering this End-of-Life USB speakerphone is this: Read the Reviews. In short: this is a good product that not everyone will be happy buying.
Depending on your operating system the user experience may not be 100% smooth. For under twenty dollars delivered though, the Quick Call is a wonderful value. Below, I'll sum up what I found in the reviews and, below that, what I've experienced in hopes that it will be helpful to you. Found: * In the reviews, you'll see the suggestion that this device isn't fully compatible with Win7. It doesn't appear to be. As you'll read on though, the device does work with Win7 and can be used for its purpose: as a USB speakerphone. Don't let the incompatibility fact confuse or dissuade you. The buttons may not function as originally intended, and the drivers/software on the included CD probably won't work unless you're running WinXP or Vista, but the device itself can be made to operate just fine, without too much hassle, within Win7. There are excellent posts on a few blogs, as well as forums and the Logitech website which can help troubleshooters get the most out of the little thing. * The speakerphone is solidly constructed and does take up space on a desk. To be safe, allot a standard piece of paper's amount of space (8.5x11 in). * Support and documentation from Logitech are limited, but enough to get most users up and running. Those uncomfortable trouble-shooting via message board and search engine should probably avoid this product. Experienced: * The call quality, in my opinion, lives up to the claims. Callers could tell that I was using a speakerphone, but did not report distortion, echoing, or breaks in the conversation. Setting up the phone took less than 30 minutes from box to first call (including searching out the Win7x64 drivers via Google, configuring those, installing Logitech's Call Center software in order to have a little more control over the device, and placing some test 'calls' to see how my system would respond to the new USB device). * The Quick Call can be made to work nicely with Google Voice. * The Call Center software available on the Logitech website can still be used in Win7. Installation as an Administrator cleared this hurdle for me. Do note that it's not necessary to use Call Center, but doing so does add a couple of features that may be convenient, like a wizard for tuning the audio. Questions? Feel free to leave a comment after reading the other reviews.

You'll need a hacker and google to get it running for Win 7,

This product only supports to Vista, and unlike most products that doesn't mean you can install it in Win 7 okay. The software will install but not find the device (Flashing red and green lights on device) on Win 7.
The drivers have been taken off the Logitech UK site (see other reviews) so you'll need to find other ways to get Win 7 drivers. At this time if you google "Logitech QuickCall USB Speakerphone Windows 7 64-bit Drivers" the first link will give you the drivers for 64-bit Win 7. You'll need to know your way around the Device Manager and Driver updating to get it running. Buttons and controls on the Logitech device do not function under windows 7, it's just a speaker/microphone. No skype integration. Another reviewer said they lacked licensing... sounds about right. Participants at other end reported occasional periods of reduced sound level. Having said all that: if you're handy with drivers and don't mind using the on screen skype controls it's a great deal compared to the $100 more for Polycom C100S and its brethren!

I've had this unit a couple of days and so far it seems fine. I'm running it over Windows 7 x64 and had to install the Vista x64 drivers as other reviewers described. I did once see what seemed to be tremendous load on the CPU (another observation reported by other reviewers) but I can't confirm it was actually this unit. I'll update my review if I can repeat it. I assume this was why the unit was withdrawn and so heavily discounted - there's nothing on the logitech site suggesting it has been replaced by a similar desktop speakerphone. I've used it with Skype and X-lite.

I have been using Skype based video calling for a while and have always had problems with the Audio. I ordered this product and since then it has been great. I also installed one at my parents house on the other end, and they found it fantastic too. The volume control in front is nifty. I would highly recommend this product for internet calling....and you can't beat the price!

I bought this a week ago because I spend all day on the phone on teleconferences and got tired even of the USB headset I was wearing. This is much better.
The picture doesn't give you a good feel for the size of the device -- it's much bigger than you would think, about the size of a large paperback book. The construction quality is excellent. The audio quality, both speaking and listening, is nearly perfect. Nobody on the other end of the calls even knows I'm on a speakerphone. The features I like best are the volume knob on the front of the unit, and the mute button on top. It's really nice not having to futz around with Skype's UI for these. The only complaints I have are minor. First complaint is that you *must* install drivers for this thing to work (Win XP, haven't tried Win7 yet); if you plug it in without installing drivers, you get a bunch of audio devices installed by XP that are labeled "disabled" and there's no way to enable them. Annoyance: apparently Logitech does not offer the driver software for download on their web site. You have to install from the CD, which at least gives you the option of searching for a newer version. It did find a newer version, downloaded it, and installed from the new version. Second complaint is that the "hang up" button does not seem to do anything in Skype. Not sure whose issue this is, but it would be great to be able to use the buttons on the speakerphone for this. Oh well. Skype's "hang up" button works just fine. Overall, this is a stellar product. It looks like Logitech may have discontinued them, so get one now, while you can (and while they're cheap!). |
