I have a set of these speakers and totally Love them! I compared ALL of the speakers at my local computer mega-store. These speakers outpreformed all the other speakers that were under $100. I didn't want to spend a lot on speakers and didn't have to with this model. Now I see that Amazon has them at a better deal than I paid for them. And I bought them on sale too! I'm trying to substantiate a reason to buy another set at this great price, but so far haven't been able to rationalize it.

Oh, one other thing, I have the 2 rear speaker mounted upside down on the ceiling. They're designed so you can position them a few different ways for your room's acoustics.

When I first bought these speakers, I was just looking for a plain set of computer speakers, a set that would sound great, looks were secondary, but in browsing and listening to the numerous choices, Logitech nailed it and I picked up a set that looked great and sounded better. I have never run across a set of 4.1 speakers that had such quality sound for $...The the subwoofer lives up to the promotions, lows can pack more than enough punch to be felt. The highs are crisp and clear.
I found that the mid range occasionally sounded like a tin can at first, but after about 5 minutes I found listening to them, any other speakers sounded [bad]. I listen to almost any music you can think of, rap, rock, country, jazz, opera(I know, I know), instrumentals, etc.., and I tried nearly every type of music I had. All sound absolutely beautiful, but I had to tinker with the subwoofer volume with some rap and jazz. Speaking of which, the Sub volume knob is large and easy to find and fluid to turn, but it is placed on the back of the subwoofer, this is not a problem for my setup, but could be bit of a pain for a few.
The only two minor complaints I could make is that the volume knob could be a little bigger and/or with a rubber coating and the way cool blue LED can be a bit too bright, Logitech should have used a diffused LED or put some coating over it (I used a small dab of hot glue which can be removed easily once cooled if you don't like the look)
I then procceded to test them on an assortment of movies. I cranked up the volume and popped in some DVDs including, Monsters Inc., Harry Potter, The Matix, The Lord of the Rings, Gone in 60 Seconds, Triple X, etc...
I must be honest, I wasn't impressed with their performance, I was AMAZED. I nearly had to pull my jaw (and ears) of the floor. I had a hard time convincing myself I was not in a movie theater. The sub stood up an shone like a star, EVERY heavy footstep, explosion, punch, engine rev, etc... even the lowest thumps were reproduced with enthusiasm I have never heard from a small system before. I set the sub volume at just a little more than 1/2 and it was great, I never needed to touch it for the rest of the time I testing on movies. The satellites, did a great job from everything from voices to gunshots, but they pretty much needed to be pointed where you were sitting to get the very best sound. But keep in mind these ARE computer speakers after all, they are designed to put sound on ONE person sitting in one spot. If your not too fussy about wall rattling sound for movies, I can say these speakers would make a very good (and cheap) starter home theater system. They gave my $...home theater system a run for it's money (Up until you got to some seriously high volume).
For their size and prize, these speakers have, and continue to, amaze and astound me, I feel they are an "12 out of 10" in value for money. If you are looking for a quality surround system for your computer that will provide very clean, hard-hitting sound and will not break the bank, The Logitech Z540's are for you.

Well, I saw an ad in OfficeMax for these speakers and I picked them up. I previously owned the Z-340's and since these were the same price, I returned my Z-340's and got these for a free upgrade to 4.1!! Anyway, that's beside the point. For the price, these speakers KICK ...!! 4.1 surround with M3D for older games and music sounds great. The sub is easily the best feature of the set. Only 20 watts, yet it cranks out some serious power!! Not just a thumper in a box. It produces clear thunderous bass. The tweeters also provide suficient mid-range to back up that heavy bass. Listening to rock and such is really awesome with this system. In the high-range, things are also steady. However, the tweeters are a bit muddy when compared to my old AL 221 system (which I turned in because the sub was awful!) Still, this system more than gets the job done. I reccommend this system to anyone with a tight budget.

If you've got some extra $ though, buy an AL 621, or the Logitech Z-560.

These are great speakers for the money. Great bass and overall performance is acceptable. However I was greatly dissappointed that there was no headphone jack, especially when they are advertised as having one.Hey Logitech...thats false advertising and you should be sued. Well its off to the parts store to buy some bulky adapters to make these work with my headset.

I recently purchased a set of these speakers and I could not be happier with their performance and quality. Up until now I have used a set of Logitech Z-340s for several years, and I can attest to their longevity.
-These speakers do indeed have a lot of bass - some would say too much, but I find that by adjusting the woofer knob and the windows bass setting I can bring it to the point that it is not overpowering.
-They are remarkably clear at reproducing music, but as someone else mentioned, if you are just listening to music, then pick up a good 2.1 pair and save some money.
-The real value comes in movies and 3d audio games where the separate channels create a truly stellar experience. Watching lord of the rings with these speakers and a nice flat panel is an amazing experience, as is playing half life with positional audio. The sound really immerses you.
-Lastly, the price is very good for a solid set of speakers. I have not found any down side to them thus far, and I believe that they are of comparable quality to speakers twice as expensive. Do your ears a favor - buy these speakers, test them out, and if you don't like them - ship them back to Amazon - that's what guarantees are for! You won't be dissapointed!

I've wanted a 5 spkr. system for some time now and spent alot of time comparing different models and reading reviews. These seemed to fit the bill. With the instant discount they were almost free. Everything hooked right up and worked great. The separation is good even though I've only got a 2 channel card(at the moment)due to the M3D feature. I'd give it "6" stars if the cables were longer.

I recently purchased this Logitech Z540 5-Piece Computer Speaker set for my PC, and I must say I'm very impartial towards them. Figuring that this package could provide crisp and clean surround sound was a wrong assumption. I found that the sound came out very hollow, and the farther away I got from them the more the quality went down, until it just sounded plain out flat. My 3 piece Altec Lansing that came standard with my PC turned out to have better sound quality after all, so I promptly hooked them back up.

However, if you are upgrading from a low end speaker system, and don't feel like breaking the hundred dollar mark, then these Logitech's are the way to go. But, if you prefer quality, and have the money to spend, don't keep Logitech's Z540 5-Piece speakers in mind, you're better off spending more on Aletc Lansings.

These speakers are just AMAZING! Awesome power, they are all round a great buy. I wanted new speakers to listen to music mainly, and they have gone far my expectations. For 40w total power, these speakers rock! They shook the floor of my house and they were not even half way up! I listen to all kind of music: rap/techno/dance/rock/reggae I must say the subwoofer is phenomenal! And i was thinking about getting the Altec Lansing 2100, Im glad I did not! If you're like me, a music lover and game player and on a budget these are the speakers for you! At a mere $$ from Amazon.com w/ shipping included, I got these puppies it only took 2 business days to arrive! DONT HESITATE BUY THEM TODAY!

I was headed for Altec Lansing and my wife and I listened to the Logitech Z-340 [2.1] and were blown away- I then noticed the Z-540...and couldn't resist. The sound is just superb- My wife and I are extremely pleased with these sleek looking deep bass and rich sounding 4.1 set-up-

I like these speakers alot. They are pretty loud and clear as can be. Nowhere near as good as the z560's but for the price they are unbeatable.
