Logitech let-down,
By
This review is from: Logitech Cordless Click! Optical Mouse (Personal Computers)
I did not set out to become an authority on mice, but I have now used and reviewed several and find that I have very strong opinions about them. I type as little as possible (lack of skill), so the mouse is my number one contact point with the computer. I love cordless optical units and plan to never own another corded mouse, but I don't feel that one should have to sacrifice performance for convenience. Based on much experience, I have become a fan of Logitech products. I bought a Cordless Click! optical mouse for myself and one as a gift for a friend with complete confidence that I would be pleased. Unfortunatly, this time my confidence was misplaced. I experienced a distinct lag in the movement of the cursor with every move of the mouse, and positioning it accuratly required concentration and effort. It behaved as if there is too little RAM, but that certainly is not the case as I have a new Dell computer with a very quick processor and lots of RAM. Additionaly, my friend has experienced the same problems on his new HP computer. I adjusted all of the settings without improvement, then uninstalled and reinstalled the software, again with no benefit in performance. I previously used a Microsoft Wireless Optical Steel Blue Mouse with my system which performed flawlessly. My wife now has the MS mouse and won't surrender it, so I returned the Logitech in exchange for a MS Intellimouse Explorer. The new MS unit is performing perfectly, so I can only assume that there are "issues" with the Logitech, most likely something in the software. I wish I had uninstalled the software and tested the Logitech with the generic Windows mouse driver, but I did not. I would have accepted the Logitech had it performed well with the generic driver since I don't use any of the advanced functions. I really wanted to like the Logitech as I am very attracted to the feel of it. And I must admitt that I like to support companies that can meet and beat Microsoft in quality and performance. But this mouse just did not work for me. I will certainly try Logitech again as I have had many good experiences with their products in the past and I believe the Logitech MX700 is still the best mouse on the market (although it is sill also expensive). I hope this review helps!

Operationally Great -- CHEWS through batteries,

This review is from: Logitech Cordless Click! Optical Mouse (Personal Computers)
The mouse has a great feel, responds well, functions on any surface I've tried it on so far. That being said, I wouldn't make the purchase again for two reasons. First, the mouse requires two AA batteries, and it sucks the life out of them in no time flat. I get about a month, perhaps a little under that, out of each set of batteries. Second, the dongle necessary to use the mouse is annoying. It's got more cable than I need, and it'd be nice to avoid having the wire at all; I didn't buy the mouse for use at a distance, but rather to get rid of the clutter of the wire and mouse on my desk. With the dongle, I don't get that benefit. So, in short -- good performer, but a higher than expected cost of ownership, and less benefit in terms of streamlining than I would have liked. Update: I originally posted this review the day a set of batteries died. That was February 21st. Today is March 14th, 23 days later, and the batteries are dead again. The batteries were fresh Duracell ULTRAs. I have reduced the rating of the mouse accordingly, and will probably end up replacing it in the next few days. Figure about a buck per battery, two batteries per change, about 15-16 times per year. That's an extra $30-$32 annually for this mouse. It's not close to being worth that. Down to one star.

I am using this mouse with a Hp zd7000 notebook and it is working very well. Installed without any problems and I was up and running in little time...actually the mouse was functional as soon as I plugged it into the port. This mouse has a nice feel in your hand...which is why I bought it in the first place. Buttons work smoothly. Overall a great computer mouse.

Very responsive ambidextrous cordless mouse!,

Microsoft's flagship mouse is their MS Bluetooth Intellimouse Explorer and Logitech's is the MX700 (Logitech's mouse is better). Unfortunately I use my left hand so the best wireless mouse that I've tried out so far for lefties is this one. In fact I think it the best ambidextrous mouse out right now.. very responsive, "like" a corded connection.. However, I am a very discerning mouse user since my work requires very accurate, detailed, and quick mouse movements. I've noticed there is a very miniscule difference in the responsiveness of this wireless optical mouse compared to a wired optical mouse. Most people (including gamers) would probably not notice. Too bad the MX700 was not made for lefties too.

Great Mouse,

I installed this mouse without any problems. The mouse has served me for 6 months and it works great. I have had to change the batteries 4 times so far, so comments about battery life are valid. But, it feels great in the hand and is very responsive. I have been able to use this mouse all the way across my room so about 15 feet away with no problems (other than I cant see my computer screen very well from that distance :) The button layout is easy to become accustomed to and everything about the mouse is very intuitive (install, setup, changing batts. etc) Overall great product from logitech again

Excellent Mouse - Really Fits My Hand,

I am very picky about mice, and would be willing to spend a hundred dollars for the right one. It is ironic then that this one costs so little. Over the years I have discovered that I want my mouse to be really NIMBLE. Meaning light and the best possible fit for my hand. And this one is ideal, for me at least. FYI, I am male and have medium to large hands. Overall, I recommend all of the lighter Logitech mice (I switched from another Logitech mouse, which I also liked, although not as much as this one.) One more thing: My wife with her smaller hands also likes Logitech mice. Highly recommended.

This mouse is fantastic, I love it. No cords to fumble with getting caught on things while trying to use. Easy to use, super smooth movement. Very comfortable fit in the hand.

Cheap because it has a large transmitter,

This mouse is cheap because it has a large transmitter. If you are looking for a tiny usb plug in you will be disappointed.

Best Logitech mouse I've ever owned,

I bought this mouse about 3 years ago. I think I originally purchased it from Walmart because I was in need of a new mouse after a crappy Kingston I bought died on me after a few months. Being a lefty and having many right handed friends who use my PC, I immediately grabbed this one since it was ambidextrous.
Here I stand, three years later, and I'm finally putting this beautiful piece of machinery to rest as it has finally died. I like to play games, especially first person shooters, so mouse accuracy is very important, however I detest corded mice, so this one was definitely quick and responsive enough to accomplish my goals. Only recently, after 3 years of extensive use has it finally died, and I can safely say I got several times over my money's worth. If you can get your hands on a new one, I highly recommend. Also, it has a corded receiver that can sit on the desk unlike the new trend that is that crappy usb stick that is easily broken. |
