Logitech Cordless Desktop Pro Keyboard and Wheel Mouse

I tested over 20 keyboards before purchasing this one, and fell hopelessly in love with the way the keys felt. Forget about the cool radio technology, or the fact that this is an "ergonomic" keyboard, or even that it comes with its own mouse. It's just a pleasure to type on.

I was skeptical of the radio technology which makes the keyboard portable. I thought it would work, but with occasional glitches. Yet I honestly can't tell a performance difference between this technology and having a plug-in keyboard. If anything, I've noticed that the included mouse is more accurate than my old Logitech First Mouse Plus. And, as with the keyboard, it just *feels* better.

As an ergonomic keyboard, this board's chief competitor is the Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro. I really wanted to like that keyboard. It was a good deal cheaper, had more function keys and even a couple of USB ports. But there's something about the curve of the board that's just awkward. The slope is not as subtle as this one, and those severe angles make typing harder somehow. Worse, the keys are very much noisier.

And the MS Pro's apparent advantages largely disappear on closer examination. The MS Pro seems to have more special function keys than the Logitech. In particular there are a number of web exploration keys that the Logitech seems not to have. But Logitech has put additional web surfing help into the mouse. Press down on the mouse wheel, and a convenient palate of web surfing tools sprouts up. Also, the MS Pro's USB ports aren't that much of an advantage. Because you have to plug the keyboard into an existing USB port, you expand your total ports only by one. That leaves only price and a single USB port as the net advantage of the MS Pro.

To me, that means Logitech wins hands down.

Because of brief experiences with Microsoft ergonomic keyboards, I intended to order the cordless ITouch (nonergonomic) instead of this; however this was the only one in stock and I ended up getting this one... The keyboard is really nice. As another reviewer mentioned, the slope of the keys feel much more natural than the microsoft. However, I have to disagree with the previous reviewer about the layout of the home/end/etc keys. If the keys have to be in a vertical layout, this layout makes much more sense than the microsoft's - microsoft arranged the keys in a seemingly random order, while logitech left most of the keys in their standard place.. (insert/delete and page up/down are where you'd expect) The cordless mouse is also far superior to microsoft's - the movement is much smoother and more responsive. I had to take off one star for 1) the "logitech" key seems to randomly think it's pressed once in awhile and pops up an annoying help page; 2) when i play some games, in order to get a decent response time from the keyboard i always have to press the "connnect" button after every reboot both of these problems are probably driver/software problems, but they're annoying

I own the cheaper model they have, just the cordless iTouch keyboard and scroll mouse, and I just LOVE it! In my opinion, Logitech makes the best products, hands down. And on top of that, they send their rebates very quickly.

The things I like best are the programable buttons for the internet (hence iTouch) and for your media playing program (such as WinAmp, RealAudio, Windows Media Player, whatever, lots supported).

Another thing I liked about my kit was the weight of the mouse. The broadcasting equipment and the two AAA batteries in it ad weight, and I REALLY like how that feels. It sounds wired I know, but it is very nice. You feel like you have control over the thing. It is also a very percise mouse.

I haven't used the mouse that comes with this kit, but I know it is very ergonimoc. It compliments the ergonomic keyboard nicely.

Another nice thing is the RF wireless, not infrared. I keep the reciever behind my desk. When I am not using the computer, I place the mouse and keyboard in the desk. It works out great!

I have heard that Logitech sells their other designs they don't use to Microsoft, but I don't know if that is true. I do believe that their equipment is far supperior to Microsofts' equipment.

If you have the money and think it would be cool to have a nice wireless keyboard, go for it. You will be surprised how much nicer your desk looks without the extra wires. Again, sounds wired and petty, but it really makes a differnece. If you have the cash, get this or the Wireless iTouch (normal set). You won't be sorry!

This keyboard is awesome. I love this because it is so much more convient for my business and my family.

At first I could find no wrong with this great set. Then the batteries died a mere two and a half months after my purchase, which seemed rather soon. While the included keyboard software works great in Windows Millennium, I've had a strange problem which consistently hangs Win 2000... no one else has been able to replicate it though so it might only be on my computer.

The major appeal of this is the cordless mouse (which works fine under both). I wasn't originally going to get the cordless *ergonomic* keyboard but it appears you can only buy it in this combination... so if you are considering it, buy both now! No one else makes one, to my knowledge.

Overall it's a great buy and very useful not just for presentations but also using at your desk without wires and for when you hook a computer up to the TV to play You Don't Know Jack and other great party games. Cordless is a lot like laptops - once you try one, you can never go back. Which is just fine, since they go perfect together :)

There are also adapters so don't worry if you only have one PS/2 port, the mouse can be attached via 9-pin serial instead.

As other reviewers have mentioned, this keyboard is great - looks great, works great, etc.

However take a close look at the picture. Look at the Home, End, Insert, PgUp, PgDown, and Delete keys.

Logitech decided to rearrange these keys for their own design. Hello? Anybody home? Who was the brainiac who thought that one up?

If you are a slow typer who needs to look at each key before you press it, then this keyboard is for you. But if you have been typing a long time, and can type without looking at the keyboard, then you will find yourself always hitting the wrong buttons.

Please Logitech, use the STANDARD KEYBOARD FORMAT for your next keyboard. Even all the other Logitech keyboards have the standard layout. But not this one. I just dont get it. If it wasn't for that unforgivable flaw, this would be a near perfect keyboard.

Durable and stylish. Very comfortable to use. Easy to install. No need for a technical person to install. Wheel mouse has a multi-point function and can be use anywhere as it has a strong signal.
The best part of it no dangling wires. RATED A1

I too previously used the MS Natural Pro, and Logitech has made all the right improvements. The unit came with no drivers, but they were easy to install from the logitech website. The keyboard has a great feel, and much quieter keys than MS's version. The mouse is not bad, but I miss the FORWARD browser button that I had on my Intellimouse Optical, maybe I'll buy the Logitech wireless version. Running XP Pro, I have had no trouble with this unit, I just advise that you instll the drivers from Logitech before you even take the unit out of the box.

Both keyboard and mouse are good, however, I just got a second system to use with the computer in the room next door (the two systems are just separated by a thin wall) and the mice "jam" each other if used at the same time (move a mouse and both systems "freeze" on the screen, very annoying). I've followed the instructions on the logitech support site to reinstall the systems (take out batteries, press button on receiver for 15 secs., install one system, wait at least 20 mins., install the second system), but the problem doesn't go away. Contacted two service reps via e-mail over the past 10 days but they just re-sent the info that's available on the site. Very disappointing, I'm junking one system now.

The Desktop Pro is a very comfortable keyboard. My biggest complaint is that the left shift key isn't very sensitive, so quite often I'll be typing along, look down, and see all lower case! Another complaint is how the function keys are split into groups of 3, 4, 3, and 2 keys. This seems strange to me. I always have to look down before hitting function keys. Another complaint is how the Home, End, Ins, etc. key cluster is layed out. I can't seem to get used to that for some reason. Is it just me? Other than those minor problems, the keyboard is GREAT! I'm thinking of buying another one for work (believe it or not). There aren't too many cordless/ergonomic keyboards out there. With that said, let me say that this one is the best one that I've found! :)
