4.0 out of 5 stars Not that bad., January 1, 2005
This review is from: Logitech Cordless Desktop LX 500 (Personal Computers)
Despite what David Hutchison said, I have had no problem with the size of the keys on this keyboard. I am writing this review on it right now. It is missing a few features that stopped me short of giving it 5 stars, though.

First, there is no key set to launch a web browser. There's an eMail key (heck, it has a calculator key!), but no internet key. This logic behind leaving a web key out really defys me. So, I had to remap the Powerpoint key (which I'd never use) to launch Firefox.

Second, the home/end/del key cluster is oddly shaped. So, I'm having to get used to that. On the plus side, the Delete key is given a double size key (like Enter on the number pad).

Third, there are no lights for caps lock or num lock. A notice can appear on the screen to let you know when the key is pressed but otherwise, you have no indication of whether these two are on or not.

Fourth, the mouse is, I suppose, ergonomically shaped. It feels odd in my hand. I'm used to a standard shape mouse so it may just be me.

I do have a couple pros.

This keyboard has keys for just about everything. Whether you want to launch AIM, access your music folder, print a document, run a search or pause your music, there's a key for you. All the keys are remappable as well and there are four open keys (F9-F12).

A personal favorite feature, the media player controls work with iTunes.

The action on the keys is not quick, but not heavy either.

If I had a smaller monitor, the side-scrolling wheel on the mouse would be nice, too.

I'm not sure I'd pay $80 for it, but $50-60 is about right.

5.0 out of 5 stars Takes about a month to get used to, but perfect afterwards, October 4, 2005

The keyboard is probably the same as any other wireless/nonwireless keyboard out there, but for this price, you can't complain. The Home/End/Delete/... keys take only about a day to get used to. When I was doing a software developing internship (programming (typing) 8+ hours a day), the Home/End/Delete/... buttons come in very handy and you would hate to use the older layout (of the Home/End/Delete/... buttons) of the older keyboards again.

The mouse is very annoying for the first month. It's because for this mouse, you have to use it with your fingertips and not let your palm rest on the mouse. Very fast and accurate after getting used to. (Less wrist movement, more fingertip movement (which is more accurate)).

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent combo, September 26, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

This is a nicely built keyboard with very good tactile feedback on the keys. I came off of a split keyboard, so I was worried that I would dislike it, but surprisingly it's been pretty good, so far. I like the low-profile design a lot.

The Home/End/etc keys different design takes a lot of getting used to, but once I did, I really like it (their positions actually makes sense, and double-sized delete is pretty nice).

Wireless response is great from all over my room. I think that I might notice a lag between the pressing of the key and the appearance of it on the screen, but I don't type fast enough to be distracting or annoying.

I don't use the mouse because I have an MX1000 already, so I can't comment on it.

I must say that Logitech continues to create very quality computer peripherals. Highly recommended.
