I bought this package to replace an old trackball mouse. I didn't really need the keyboard, but decided on the combo anyway; I was pleasantly surprised at how convenient the enhanced keyboard is! The mouse works well (as expected) and the color of both keyboard and mouse looks really sharp (black with silver accents).KEYBOARD: pros: cons: MOUSE: pros: cons:

Awesome keyboard! Don't expect much from the mouse...,

Let me first say that I love being cordless. I don't think I will ever go back to a corded keyboard/mouse. The keyboard is awesome. I give it ****1/2/*****.The best feature is definately the media controls. It makes it much more convenient to change songs and control the system volume. I don't find myself using the keys on the top left and right hand sides of the keyboard (f-lock, email, webcam, iTouch, etc.), but maybe I just need to get used to them being there. The mouse is a whole different story. I really wanted to like it, but I can't. I am very frustrated by it. One of the things that really turned me on about it was not having to use a mousepad. Well, my desk has wood grain and if I attempt to use the mouse on it, the cursor jumps and skips around. So I have to use a mousepad, or an unsightly piece of paper. Second, for me, the ergonomics are bad. I have a small/medium hand, and I get cramps after using the mouse for more that 30 minutes. Also, the scroll wheel does not work in games. There is absolutely no comparison to my original Dell Logitech optical mouse. The tracking was 10 times better on any surface. I give the mouse */*****. The software definately needs some polishing. When using any of the volume/media controls, the text on the lower portion of the screen becomes distorted. This can be defeated by turning the on screen key effects off, but then you have no visual indication of the volume level. Also there is no way to program the buttons to do different things in different applications. For instance, there is no way to make the side button go back in Internet Explorer and make it double click everywhere else. I give the software **/*****. I expected better from Logitech. Because the mouse is so bad, I am looking at spending another $70 on the MX700 which looks much better. There are many other people who were satisfied with the mouse, though, so you should probably try before you buy.

This keyboard/mouse combo does everything you need and more. The keyboard is the best out there. Great to type on and all the features you could want. I'm a computer consultant and probably have typed on every keyboard out there and this one is vastly superior. The key action makes typing a breeze and the keyboard is laid out well. Tons of great features like the media control center w/volume control, a scroll wheel, 9 programmable buttons that you can program to do anything you want, etc. The lack of a caps lock indicator on the keyboard seems to be a problem as 1st, but since you can set the software to display "CAPS LOCK ON" (or off) in big letters on the bottom of the screen for a few seconds when you hit the caps lock, it's not really a problem. And, there is a caps lock indicator on the reciever. They probably didn't put the caps indicator on the keyboard because it would drain the batteries. The mouse is heavier than a cordless mouse, but oddly enough, if you want to do precision pointing (on a graphics program or somesuch) this helps, since it's not so light and doesn't jeark around as much. However, because of the curved shape of the mouse, our clients that are left-handed simply can't use the mouse comfortably. If you are left-handed you are going to hate the mouse. The mouse is a 4-button mouse. If you need a 5-button mouse, this mouse it not for you. You simply can't run the keyboard or mouse with low batteries, as you will have all sorts of problems. The best solution is to use rechargable batteries. It is suggested that you download the current drivers for the keyboard and mouse,... and the current drivers give you significantly more options. Finally, besides being very impressive for it's ease of use and features, they simply look sharp as heck. Plus, with the rebate, you are getting the best cordless combo at about the same price that you would pay for a basic corded keyboard/mouse.

I bought this product after moving and having trouble getting my mouse and keyboard to reach from the computer to where I wanted them. Not only is that problem solved, but I find this product surprisingly effective and easy to use. I've noticed the following:1 - Setup was easy. It took more time to get out of the box than to get working. 2 - The reciever transmitter works fine even from within my desk. It's seperated from the mouse and keyboard by a bunch of wood, and no problems. 3 - Works fine with games -- I can't detect any delay between hitting a key or moving the mouse and getting a response. 4 - Nice programable buttons on the mouse and keyboard, and easy to use software to customize those keys. (The mouse is a three button mouse, plus the wheel. The third button is at the thumb.)

Not sure what you folks have been smoking....Number 1..the mouse is outstanding, works great for gaming also, mine does NOT skip or have any problems or slow response whatsoever...I use a nice mousepad and not a shinny wood surface DOH!... I can only assume the MX700 mouse would be slightly better, but actually if your playing a FPS game online and your moving this mouse fast enough to cause it to skip, your outa control anyway. The mouse takes 2 AA batteries, i use mine ALOT many many hours per day and last approx 3-4 weeks... The keyboard takes 4 AA batteries not 2...Ive had the keyboard for almost a year now of constant use and havent replaced the batteries yet.... Both work flawlessly from my bed which is at least 10-12 feet away....I hook up my PC to the 36"TV ocaisionally and this cordless KB& Mouse comes in very handy being able to just kick back in bed and surf... My one and only complaint about this Keyboard and or mouse is actually against Logitech themselves, by forcing you to buy BOTH in combo as opposed to being able to just buy the "Elite Optical Keyboard" separately..... and i like this Keyboard & Mouse combo so much, that now im looking to buy a "spare" just to have set aside for when another "sticky" situation arises..we have 2 PCs side by side, both have this KB & mouse....none better.

Nice Combo, But Get the Cordless MX Duo if You Can.,

It's been 11 months since I got this Cordless Elite Duo. At under 50 bucks, you can't go wrong with this combo.Bottom line? Get the Elite Duo if you'd like a good mouse, but if you can spare the few extra dollars, get the Cordless MX Duo. You get the same exact keyboard, but a much, much nicer mouse (the MX700). Just think - better tracking, a charging base, 2 NiMH batteries included for the mouse (2 alkalines included for the keyboard.) If the MX Duo was available last year, I would have opted for that one instead. But, if you want a pretty good mouse with a programmable thumb button (I programmed it as a back button), this Elite Duo is a good deal, alkaline batteries included. I've used it on a number of machines, ranging from Athlon XP 2600+ Barton system, to my brother's PS2. On a PS2, it's great. No need to use your controller to type when you're gaming online, just plug in the RF receiver and type away your "GG"s with your new wireless keyboard. It's sweet. I know you're supposed to keep the keyboard and mouse about 6' from the receiver, but I can't help it sometimes! If you use your computer as entertainment center like I do, you'll be surprised to know that you can lug the keyboard to the other end of the house, and it'll still function. I'm talking at least 25' here. Go to the next rooms and use the "Next Track", volume, or other buttons to control your songs. Kinda like a big remote control that works through walls. Nice. Regarding to all the extra buttons on the keyboard, I don't use them all that often, with the "2nd mouse wheel" as the exception. The keyboard includes a 2nd mouse wheel on the left side, which can be programmed do one any one of several things. I use it as a volume button, as the dedicated volume button at the top center of the keyboard is too bothersome to reach for all the time. The nice thing is that all the buttons are customizable, so that you can program launch programs or websites of your choice. As for gaming, personally I'd use another mouse. The Cordless Mouseman Optical that comes with this duo is OK, but I notice just enough lag to get on my nerves. Maybe I'm just spoiled, or maybe it's just my LCD. But for everything else under the sun, the mouse is fine. FYI. My last motherboard was a MSI K7T266 Pro 2-A (do you know what that is? Do you care?). Anyways, whenever I wanted to go into BIOS, or whenever I wanted to boot from my Windows XP CD, I'd have to use a wired keyboard because the mobo wouldn't load the USB in time. Also, the receiver would momentarily cut out once in a while, as if it lost USB connectivity. Again, my setup might be to blame. Someone said something about this duo not working with USB hubs? Personally, I've connected it to a Linksys USBHUB4C hub, and it worked like a charm... for months. I connected it to a cheap Iogear GUH174 hub, still works until now. *Shrug* All in all, the Elite Duo works nicely, and has stood the test of time. The question really is price versus performance - The Elite Duo vs. the MX Duo. Go for the MX Duo, but you can't go wrong with the Elite Duo.

So many buttons, so much deskspace...,
By Stephen Wheatley (Portland, OR United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Logitech Cordless Elite Duo Keyboard & Mouse (967231-0403) (Personal Computers)
Finally had to ditch old iMac keyboard with lousy 'feel', unresponsive keys... Huge improvement in keyboard 'feel' over previous keyboard, solid design, can actually touch type again... Only owned for a week... need to restart after installing drivers to 'activate' wireless keyboard & mouse... newer drivers availible from logitech... mouse motion a little jerky even after adjusting control panels (both Logitech & Apple Mouse)... must be 'wireless' thing... don't know what the battery consumption is yet, uses four 'AA' batteries (two for keyboard, two for mouse)... mouse a tad heavier & bulkier than my previous logitech optical wheel mouse (must be the batteries)... thumb button on left side of mouse makes for righties only, feels big in hand... changed default thumb button from 'click-hold' to custom key-combo 'command-[' for one button 'back page' in Safari... count 18 'extra' buttons and two scroll wheels on keyboard alone... default extra button functions from driver install work great, needs a second after pressing for computer to respond on 'media keys'... don't think I'll actually use the extra buttons, but they're there adding to the dimensions of keyboard, much bigger than I anticpated and takes a lot of deskspace... overall I'm happy with the purchase, just a tad dissappointed with overall size & bulk of keyboard and mouse.

This is great for work. Keyboard and mouse were a snap to install. worked like a charm in a couple of minutes. All hot-keys work well for the Web. I can get rid of my "wired" remote control for my speakers. This is a great buy for anyone considering it. Worth every penny and good quality. Easy to use!!

Sleek Keyboard and Mouse Make a Great Package!,
By
This review is from: Logitech Cordless Elite Duo Keyboard & Mouse (967231-0403) (Personal Computers)
I Love this Keyboard and mouse set! I have had it for seven months, and wish that all the computers I use had the same set. The one thing I have found personally is that the keyboard and mouse don't waste a lot of battery power, which was one of my concerns when I first bought the set. The range is well over the stated range for me. I can get 20+ feet (why I would need that, I don't know!) and wireless is a whole lot cleaner and nicer than the wired keyboards of yesteryear. The set up is very easy, and requires only the receiver and the associated software, which I honestly don't use very often. But the play button capability for music listening is a nice feature that I like, and use more than my sound card's remote. The optical mouse is much better than anything Microsoft offers, and works fast and efficiently for any application! If your looking for a keyboard and mouse, this is the best set you'll be able to find!

I liked the keyboard very much, it is the most comfortable keyboeard I ever used, and functional keys are very cool. However, the mouse [is bad], it is long, heavy and in a weird shape. the buttons are too small so that you need to bent your finger to an unatural angle to click it. And the thumb button is useless since you can never reach it. I know why people complain about battery life, this mouse is on all the time, even when your computer is shut down. And in my system (XP) the mouse only works when the receiver is connetected with USB, not PS/2. |
