4.0 out of 5 stars Works exactly like it should
I just wanted to comment on what the first reviewer said. He complained that there were no caps lock LEDs on the keyboard. If you think about it, it would be very stupid to put these lights on a wireless keyboard. Because they are wireless, they get their power from batteries. If you always have num lock or caps lock on, then you would drain the batteries down much...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good buy for the money - Some problems still remain
Worked flawlessly out of the box when connected directly to the computer. Didn't have to use the CD that came with it. However, as soon as I connected it to a KVM, problems popped up. First, there is no scroll lock on this keyboard. Granted nobody uses it anymore but who is Logitech to change the standard layout. Now, I can't switch computers using the keyboard. I have to...

I just wanted to comment on what the first reviewer said. He complained that there were no caps lock LEDs on the keyboard. If you think about it, it would be very stupid to put these lights on a wireless keyboard. Because they are wireless, they get their power from batteries. If you always have num lock or caps lock on, then you would drain the batteries down much quicker than normal. Just to put it in perspective. I have been using the Logitech cordless desktop keyboard for two years without ever changing the batteries. This is precisely because they don't waste power on unnecessary LEDs. Also, if you need to see these LEDs, the Logitech drivers come with icons that sit in your system tray to indicate when caps lock and num lock are on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice, November 12, 2004
This review is from: Logitech Cordless LX300 Desktop Express (Personal Computers)
Easy set up. Works perfectly. Nice keyboard and very nice optical mouse for $35.00. I only have one small complaint. The cable length for the receiver is very short. That made it hard to connect to the computer. I had to do some rearranging to get the cables to reach the computer. Other than that everything works great. Very happy with the purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Compatibility issues with newer laptops, October 18, 2005
This review is from: Logitech Cordless LX300 Desktop Express (Personal Computers)
This keyboard was purchased for me as a gift so that I could stop hurting my wrists by typing on a laptop keyboard. The purchaser has had a very good experience with his own Logitech wireless keyboard, an older model that came without a wireless mouse. Thus, I am willing to give this keyboard the benefit of the doubt until I can actually use it.

Unfortunately, that will not be for a little while, because this cordless desktop express has a a receiver that needs two ps/2 ports. My new-ish laptop has a total of 0 such ports. It was our mistake not to check the manufacturer's website more closely, since Amazon does not provide information on what the receiver hooks up to. However, if you are buying this keyboard, do make sure that you have the ps/2 ports, or buy a converter to make the unit compatible with USB ports along with the unit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice keyboard and mouse; easy setup; good battery life, November 28, 2005
This review is from: Logitech Cordless LX300 Desktop Express (Personal Computers)
The system consists of a keyboard, an optical-type mouse and a receiver. The receiver plugs into the computer via two PS2 ports, the ports that the keyboard and the mouse usually plug into. The receiver doesn't need batteries. The mouse uses two AA batteries; the keyboard uses two AAA batteries. Installation was easy. Unplug the mouse and keyboard, replacing the plugs you just unplugged with the plugs from the receiver. Put batteries in the mouse and keyboard. Press a button on the receiver labeled "connect" and then press the connect button on the bottom of the keyboard. The do the same connect procedure for the mouse. Then you are ready to use the keyboard and mouse.

There is a CD that came with the unit. I never installed it. Maybe there are some extra functions I am missing by not installing the software and/or reading the instructions.

The batteries last many months. Do keep extras handy for when they eventually do give out. You need two AA and two AAA handy.

I have been using this unit with a Compaq Windows XP computer for many months at my office where it gets a lot of use and have had no problems or complaints at all. Both the keyboard and mouse have a good feel and usability.

I don't see how the company could improve on this product.

For most computer users, I think it is worth the price to get rid of the annoying cords for the keyboard and mouse. They get in the way, and if your desk gets cluttered at all the cords can knock things over when the cords get pulled and moved.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Performer, April 17, 2005

I received this as a gift from a friend, and what a great gift it is. Set-up took a little under ten minutes from opening of the box to software loading and computer reboot. The keys on the keyboard are super quiet. The mouse works perfectly. I've had other mice from other manufacturers and the pattern on my desk would always throw the optical sensor for a loop, so I would always have weird movements even if I wasn't touching it. Mouse movement is very precise and scroll works great also (it's programmable too). My set stopped picking up the signal from the receiver about 20 feet away. I could barely see my screen clearly, but the keyboard and mouse still work. This is the best keyboard/mouse combo I've had.

The keyboard and mouse work great.

The only complaint I have is that the arrangement of the home/end/insert/delete keys is kind of strange. Besides being put in a vertical configuration, the delete key is enlarged and the insert key was moved up to the row with the print screen key for some reason.

By the way, since the other reviewer complained about the length of the cord - the cord that came with mine was about 4 feet, so you can judge for yourself whether it's too short.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great value for the price, February 12, 2005

I have used a Logitech wireless mouse and Microsoft, Dell and Gateway keyboards (all w/cords) in the past. My old Logitech mouse fritzed out so I had to buy a new one. I looked around and found I didn't need all those buttons on the more expensive mouses(mice?). I also liked the wireless keyboard that comes in this set. It is VERY quiet and doesn't "click, clack" like the others I've used. I feel it's quieter than the Dell OEM quiet keyboard I purchased in the past. Set-up was easy and everything worked immediately. This is not a fancy-pants combination. It's simply a good, basic, value wireless keyboard-mouse set.

The keyboard has a great feel and works flawlessly. the mouse works better than the microsoft mouse that costs as much as the keyboard and mouse together. I don't see how anyone could have anything but praise for these items, unless the ones they purchased were flawed or their computers were acting up. Great product!!!

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Logitech Cordless LX300 Desktop Express (Personal Computers)
My dad bought this for me, when I sister stole my mouse and moved to Sacramento. It's a great keyboard/mouse set! For $30, it's definitely worth it. Range is okay, if you're using it near your desk and looking just to remove the running wires. Anyway, the cons: the software installs spyware/adware on your computer secretly. I had a firewall and it told me all this. That's the reason I rated it 4 stars instead of 5, because of the spware/adware installation.

Don't worry about difficult installation or set-up with this combo. It's a breeze. Transmitter plugs right in to former keyboard and mouse slots and takes up very little room on desk. Mind you, I didn't use the included software, so I may not be taking advantage of all the keyboard has to offer, but I'm very pleased with what I've seen so far. I did have a "squeek" in my mouse, but opened battery compartment, cleaned with compressed air and that solved the problem. The mouse seems to be very sensitive and responsive. Scroll button works smoothly. Keyboard with wrist rest attached is very comfortable to use. Price is right. I'd gift a good friend with this...what could be better?
