3.0 out of 5 stars The bunny died enroute
The order and shipment of my mouse went quite as expected. I found the installation simple enough, though somewhat disappointed that the serial adaptor does not "fasten" to the pc. It depends on the connection to hold without any form or "fasteners" other than the pins themselves.

The darn thing wouldn't work, however. I rechecked my...

I purchased this neat tool to help me overcome the crowded conditions on my desk and the cord that became ever so short when the "tower" was invented. I chose the Logitech brand because of past experience with their products and the great feel of the mouse. The installation of the software was a breeze ( I have two left thumbs) and the period of adjustment was very brief. The Cordless Mouseman Wheel feels great! It is fully programable for special projects and provides almost total flexibility on the screen. It will auto scroll or multi-line scroll with just a touch of one wheel. Double click with your thumb while you can cut and paste with one finger and open and close with the other! All while having total freedom to move around your desk or across the office for that matter. It's so good that I bought another for home!

I think I bought this mouse because of how cool it seemed, and it got a lot of oohs and ahhs from a lot of people, but this is the best mouse I have ever used, and was definitely worth the $60 I paid for it. The hassle of mouse cords (okay, so it seems like a hassle now) is gone, and I can put the mouse anywhere I want. The only downside is the necessity of batteries, but I have (since buying the mouse) only had to change them once since July. My total battery usage, however, is the same due to my solar-powered universal remote (A Sony RM-V801, which I also highly recommend). The mouse also gives plenty of warning (onscreen, but basically not intrusive) when the batteries are low.

The only drawback to owning this mouse is that once you get used to it, using other computers (with traditional mice) is a bit annoying. It's easy to get used to using the two extra buttons (all four buttons are highly programmable), which for me are double-click (the thumb button) and F12, which operates my video card's zoom function (the scroller button), which is very handy with this mouse, since I'm not tied down to sitting right at my desk. I find I change how I sit and where the mousepad is a lot when I use my computer (sometimes I even use my wristrest for the mousing surface...I suppose you'd have to see my desk to understand why that makes sense, but it does), and it is made far easier by the fact that I don't have to reposition or pull on the mouse cord every time I do that. I never feel tired or cramped after using my computer, probably due to the fact that I shift around frequently.

Since it's designed primarily for the right hand (and quite well), the only real drawback to the actual usage of this mouse would be experienced by lefties, I suppose, but then again if you hold it at an angle and reset the orientation it should be pretty comfortable. Try one out in a store if you don't want to worry about possibly sending it back later.

Overall, this mouse is superb; I plan to keep it until I need to replace it with another one, which I hope is a long time off. I can't think of anything I don't like about it.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best purchases I have ever made, July 18, 2002
This review is from: Logitech Cordless Mouseman Wheel PS/2 Serial Combo (Personal Computers)
I am on my computer just about from when I wake up to when I go to sleep. I run my own website and am using my mouse constantly. I've gone through a huge selection of mouses, trying to keep my wrist from killing me, but nothing ever helped - until this mouse.

It's AMAZING how much this mouse is better than others out there. It is incredibly comfortable in your hand. Without that darn wire tugging at you when you move the mouse, the stress on your hand is much, much less. You can even use your mouse on a side tray, or on a lap-tray or anything else. You could vary your position daily to keep your wrist in shape.

I had heard from some people that cordless mice had slow response time - but I use this for everything from design work to word processing to database development to serious gaming, and it's never let me down.

I recommend this to every computer person I know. It's really, really great!

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this Mouse, March 1, 2001

I bought this mouse for my home computer (windows platform) and it was great but I was getting frustrated at work with all the wires getting tangled so I moved it to work (NT platform). I had no problems installing the mouse on either platform and it works just as well on both too. I truly enjoy the way the mouse conforms perfectly to my hand and the three buttons and scroll bar are great. One of the fun things is that you get to choose what each button or the wheel actually does (i.e.... side button to double click or back button on internet or internet scroll or select and click or close or whatever). You totally map your mouse to work, as you want. I've heard a lot of people comment negatively about the batteries that are required but I don't see that as a drawback. If you go into the control panel and select Mouse, you can find out the battery life in your mouse so you can monitor if you need to get new batteries. Plus the simple thought of a battery over my mouse cord getting wrapped up in my phone cord... I'll take it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still Going Strong, May 6, 2009

I have been using one of these for probably seven or eight years, and it is the most comfortable and friendly device I have come across, and as a former purchasing agent, I have bought and used many mice indeed. I have needed to open it up for cleaning and servicing, and was really impressed by how well designed and constructed this is.

A few days ago, the left button began acting up, (can you imagine it's cycle history?) and while it is a soldered but replaceable microswitch, I thought I would look for a replacement mouse. On a whim I looked to see if this model was still available- in our time of so many transient products with a life of maybe 2 years, I was really surprised to discover such an old model still available new.

Whether I will buy another one when the time comes remains to be seen- I am fond of Logitech products, and have found some of their newer designs to have some pretty cool features- like a scroll wheel that rocks side to side- great for Web navigation- which might tempt me away from this model.

But if you want a sturdy, bulletproof cordless mouse that will probably outlive a computer or two, this is the one.

This mouse is not perfect. The surface is too smooth and the scrolling wheel is a bit loose for my taste. But nevertheless this is the best mouse I tried. And I tried them all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ergonomic - Natural feeling, July 25, 2000

It is the best in many years of driving mice. I am no longer limited by the cable. It is wonderful to accomodate the mouse anywhere and now I am missing a cordless keyboard. Great flexibility at the time of selecting the mouse button functionality. It is too sensible though. I would like to calibrate the movements (move this far on the screen when moving this much at the desk), I don't know if its possible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very comfortable, well-designed mouse, February 26, 2007

I have long been a fan of Logitech mice/trackballs, having used them exclusively on my home PCs since the mid-1990s. I had been using the MouseMan Wheel for several years, and was been quite happy with it, but wanted to try a cordless mouse to clear up some of the wire clutter on my desk.

Since I had been happy with the MouseMan Wheel, I went online and searched for the Cordless MouseMan Wheel (which had been discontinued by the time I bought it 2 years ago). It is very similar in contour to the MouseMan Wheel, angled perfectly for a right-hander. It was slightly heavier than the MouseMan Wheel, but I adjusted to that within a week. The button feel is nice, better than the corded MouseMan Wheel. As with the corded version, the thumb button is in the ideal location, and can be programmed to perform any one of a number of actions - I programmed it for double-clicking, so that I never have to double-click the mouse, which reduces strain on my forearm. I liked the mouse so much that I purchased another one to use at work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy it, you wont regret it, August 6, 2004

I've had this mouse for 4-5 years, and I have always loved it... but lately my mouse has stopped working, so it was time to find a new mouse... after spending several months looking I bought some other logitech cordless (and optical) mouse... After having had this mouse for 1.5 months I'm looking for a replacement for that one, so I've started searching again.
the reason I didn't buy this mouse in the first place, was because I live in Denmark, where it's impossible to buy this mouse... Amazon.co.uk don't have this mouse either :(
