I use my notebook for accounting & my standard notebook keyboard doesn't have a number pad. This handy little device offers quick launch keys to your pc's calculator, excel, & the internet without any prior set-up. It has a place on the back to store its USB connector & has a great little pouch to protect it from dings & scratches. I highly recommend this product! It's a little pricey, but anyone who uses their number keys a lot will be glad they splurged!

Not Just For Noteboooks!,

This review is from: Logitech Cordless Number Pad for Notebooks (Personal Computers)
I bought this to replace a wired 10-key touch pad for my DESKTOP computer whose entertainment-focused keyboard lacks a 10-key, and I'm flat out impressed by the quality of the Logitech Cordless Number Pad "for Notebooks".
It's elegant and, so far, nearly flawless. There's no response time to wake it up as with some wireless products. The USB receiver fits nicely into the unit and the carrying case, Excel/Calculator/Internet Explorer buttons and energy-saving power button are all nice features. Also, since it's wireless, there's less clutter on my desk now! The only thing I can't comment on yet is the battery life since I've only had the product for a week. If the unit lives up to its "6-month battery life" claim, I'll go so far as to say this is one of my most recommended purchases. The only improvement I'd wish for is Bluetooth capability to free-up the USB port the wireless receiver requires. FOLLOW UP: I ended up getting a little over 2 months of battery life off of 24/7 use of this device. That's a little short of the 6 month claim, but I think it's fairly impressive, nonetheless!

DO NUT BUY FOR A MAC!!!!!!!!!!,
By
This review is from: Logitech Cordless Number Pad for Notebooks (Personal Computers)
Like most mac users, I am slightly irritated at Apple's boneheaded decision to NOT include a number pad on the apple wireless keyboard. Not wanting to be constrained with a wired number pad,or the wired apple keyboard, I opted to purchase this unit. After removing it from the packaging (i,e, destroying the packaging b/c there is no way to get the blasted thing out otherwise!) I discovered that it ISN'T compatible with OSX. OSX properly identifies the device, it just doesn't work, After searching on the logitech forums, I discovered that this is a known issue for Logitech and that apparently they just don't care! Tons of other Mac owners have purchased this unit and are now in the same position as me....stuck with a worthless piece of plastic that will only work in windows.
Save your money and your frustrations!

Using the number pad on my desktop has become second nature. Recently I have been using my notebook more and more, but when it came time to pay the bills, work a spreadsheet, or anything involving numbers, I was frustrated having to hunt and peck. The Logitech Cordless Number Pad is the perfect solution. The size is perfect, easily readable, nice portable case, and extra features, such as a button for internet, another to open Excel. With wireless, I can hold it in my hand and watch the screen. Very versatile; I would definitely purchase again.

Bought this item, it died after 2 months of use (yes, only 2 months!) Loved it so much, though, that I bought a 2nd one...it, too, died after 4 months. Going back to the USB model. Too bad, as the size of this is perfect - just shoddy electronics. Sorry Logitech! Fool me once, shame on you: fool me twice, shame on me. I won't come back for more.

Good accessory, but lacks "clear" button,

This is a good number pad keyboard for laptops. Extremely easy to connect and install (just plug in the included USB dongle, which stores in a slot underneath the device when not in use). No software is required. Comes with nice case. Keypad has sturdy feel and the keys are equivalent to that of a standard keyboard, except for the additional "tab", and top row of buttons "=", "(", ")", and "Back". For some inexplicable reason, the keypad does not have a "clear" key. Instead of having quicklauch keys for Excel and IE at the top row, it would be nice to have a "clear" key. Saves having to use the mouse with the calculator. In the alternantive, it would be cool if the keys were customizable like most other Logitech devices.

Beware - no NumLock/navigation keys!,
This review is from: Logitech Cordless Number Pad for Notebooks (Personal Computers)
This isn't really a knock against the product, but I'm hoping that writing this will prevent someone else from repeating my mistake...
I don't actually use the numbers at all, but I use the navigation keys on a number pad quite a lot (arrow keys, home, end, page up/down). I figured they were pretty standard on number pads (my previous external one had them), so I didn't even think to look and make sure this one did. Turns out it doesn't - there's no Num Lock on it, it truly is a number-only pad. If entering numbers is what you're after, this looks like it would work super, otherwise you probably want to look elsewhere.

Bluetooth,

I really do like this number pad. I recently bought the DiNovo Edge keyboard and love it with one exception, it doesn't have a number pad. I use spreadsheets enough that I feel I need a numberpad, so I bought this and it's great with two exceptions.
The radio receiver is pretty big. If I have the laptop on my lap and want to use the number pad, the receiver is awkward, in the USB ports. Second Logitech can't seem to settle on a standard 2.4 GHZ or Bluetooth. I wish they would settle on one and release everything with which ever they choose. I tried plugging just one of the receivers into a USB port and hoped it would recognize both the number pad and the keyboard, but I couldn't get the two to work, unless both receivers were plugged in, 2.4 GHz and my bluetooth receiver. So in order to use the diNovo Keyboard and this numberpad, I have to use 2 USB ports. Not a major problem, but annoying and prevents me from giving this item a 5.

There are few laptops with a built-in numpad these days, so we ordered this as a complement for a new laptop.
Unfortunately, the USB connector is too large to use it as an "always-connected" device. A micro-receiver would be a huge improvement. The biggest problem we had was with getting it to connect. It seemed to be *very* sensitive to having a direct line of sight between the front of the numpad and the USB receiver. This completely undercuts the supposed convenience of a wireless device. When you're using a numpad, you're probably doing heavy-duty data entry. You CAN'T afford to "lose" a few digits, which is something that has happened often to me in my brief time with this device. If left unused, the device seemed to power itself off, and the power button on the bottom is recessed and very inconvenient to hit. The only good thing I can say about the device is that it is stylish. But I'm afraid I'll be returning this for another less-stylish, wired model.

Great Product,
This review is from: Logitech Cordless Number Pad for Notebooks (Personal Computers)
I bought this for my wife for Christmas and she loves it. She has to enter a lot of data on her laptop computer and this number pad was the perfect item. I wanted to avoid the number pads with cords because of the lead warnings so I went with the wireless. It was super easy to setup, we just put in the batteries which were included with the product, plugged in the USB stick and it worked. No configuration. It also has a nifty little calculator button that launches the Calculator application found on the PC.
