Works with Apple PowerBooks-Even the packaging says so!,
By ebbhead1991 (Chicagoland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Logitech V270 Cordless Optical Mouse for Bluetooth - Bright Silver (Personal Computers)
Within a week of purchasing the similar Logitech V200 cordless mouse, the company announces the V270, much to my chagrin. Finally, a Bluetooth mouse was released that has all of the qualities I desire:
- Made by one of the "big three" mouse manufacturers (Microsoft, Logitech, Kensington); - Has more than one button and a scroll wheel (sorry Apple!); - Under $50.00; - Does not require purchasing a hefty charging stand/receiver; - Works natively with Mac OS X's Bluetooth drivers. As the title of this review states, the packaging does call out the fact that the mouse works well with PowerBooks. Don't own a PowerBook? The mouse works with any Bluetooth-enabled Macintosh computer running 10.2.8 or higher, or any Windows 2000/XP machine with a Broadcom/Widcomm Bluetooth chipset. Aesthetically, the mouse is just a slight shade of silver darker than that of the aluminum PowerBooks. (A charcoal-colored version of the V270 is also available.) Including a neoprene carrying pouch that zippers shut is a nice touch on Logitech's part, considering the relative cost of the mouse itself. As the V270 works natively with Mac OS X's Bluetooth drivers, I was up and running within minutes. The mouse is as responsive as you'd expect from any average cordless mouse during normal use. Since the mouse sends its signal in pulses (compared to traditional RF cordless mice whose signals are constant, even when immobile), there is a slight lag (less than a second) when first moving the mouse after a period of inactivity. After that initial movement, any subsquent hand gestures are met with an immediate response. Although it may sound annoying, this behavior is a good thing, as it helps improve overall battery life. Perhaps the greatest benefit of all (for me) is the reclamation of a USB port that was previously occupied by the V200's USB dongle. Definitely recommended.

I wish it was just a little bit bigger!,

This review is from: Logitech V270 Cordless Optical Mouse for Bluetooth - Bright Silver (Personal Computers)
For some reason there is a dearth of full-size Bluetooth mice. There are tons of full-size WIRELESS mice, but why would I want to waste one my MacBook Pro's USB ports on an IR dongle, when I already have Bluetooth built-in? There is Apple's Wireless Mighty Mouse, but I have found it to be a bit flakey when using it on other folks' systems. I particularly don't like the feel of the scroll button on the Mighty Mouse, and the side buttons are near-impossible to use, to the point where they might as well not be there at all. What I want is a simple, no-frills Bluetooth mouse. The only mice that fit my criteria (that I could find) are the V270 and the RadTech BT600. The RadTech was a little more expensive than I wanted and not from a company I have experience with as far as computer peripherals, so I chose the V270. I'm mostly happy with my decision.
The V270 paired with my computer very easily. Even better, since I'm a freak about saving energy and always turn off the mouse when I'm not using it, the V270 pairs back up automatically and quite quickly when I turn it back on again. It can even pair with the computer while it's sleeping and then be used to wake it up. It is also a good looking mouse, and goes nicely with my Aluminum MacBook Pro and white Apple Wireless Keyboard. My only complaints: 1. On a Mac, the speed of the mouse is a little frustrating. The mouse doesn't come with any Mac drivers, which normally I would see as a plus: it just works. However, the second lowest speed setting in System Preferences is WAY too fast and the lowest setting is is WAY too slow. I read that this is supposedly because of the V270's super-high 1000 dpi tracking. Whatever it is, it's frustrating! Didn't anyone test this on a Mac before shipping it? The good news is you can get around it pretty easily using one of several third-party mouse utilities available for the Mac. I chose one called MouseZoom because it is freeware. There is another called SteereMouse that worked very well too and also gave me a lot more control than the built-in software over the functions of the various mouse-buttons (for example, I could set the scroll wheel button to show the applications switcher). But I didn't want to pay $20 extra to make the mouse work like it should out of the box, so I was happy to find the freeware alternative. 2. My second problem is that the mouse is just a little smaller than I would prefer. It is not quite as big as the normal Mac mouse. I can't really complain, since it is billed as a notebook mouse. And it is bigger than most notebook mouse. But I have somewhat big hands and I would actually like something a little bit bigger than the normal Mac mouse, especially in terms of height. I do feel a bit of strain after using this mouse for long periods. I would definitely choose a bigger mouse if there were more players in the bluetooth mouse field. But since there aren't, I feel like this is the best option. Overall, I'm happy with it, and for someone with smaller hands it might be perfect.

All good except one area,

I have had this mouse for about one week now. I have been using the Logitech wireless optical mouse and then the V200 for a couple of years now and this mouse feels just as solid as the other two USB based.
I had no problem connecting it to my Dell 6000 and Thinkpad X32 (both have internal bluetooth module). It works very well. The only problem I have is after a long period of inactivity, the mouse goes to sleep. I have very inconsistent results to wake up the mouse. Sometimes all I need to do is to move the mouse or click a button; some other times, I have to turn the mouse off and then on; then at another times, I hve to repeatedly turn it off-on-off-on, until I see the blue light comes on. There does not seem to have a pattern. Other than that, the mouse is excellent.

Great mouse, works great with mac,

I've used this mouse for a few weeks now and decided to live a feedback.
I use it with my imac intel and it works great. The mouse has a sleep mode, that seems to distract so many (it turns off after some period of inactivity), however it takes less then a second for it to start working again. After it's been initially moved it catches up in less the a second, I'm considering it as a mouse property and it doesn't bother me at all, actually i prefer to wait a sec then replace batteries every other day. I also use a mac bluetooth keyboard and there is no interference of any kind. The other thing i found is that after reboot, in order to reconnect the mouse I need to hold the reset button, otherwise mac can't just find it (it could have something to do with mac bluetooth implementation). It has no such problem if computer was in sleep mode. I would definitely recommend this product to any one.

Great wireless mouse for Bluetooth-enabled laptops,
By
This review is from: Logitech V270 Cordless Optical Mouse for Bluetooth - Bright Silver (Personal Computers)
I unwrapped this mouse when it arrived, inserted two AA batteries
(which were included), and turned it on. On my Dell Latitude D410 laptop, which I had ordered Bluetooth connectivity pre-installed, I clicked on "Find Bluetooth Devices" and within seconds the Logitech V270 mouse was working. Now when I start up the laptop, it finds the mouse within seconds. It tracks as well as a corded mouse, includes a scroll wheel, and the on/off switch helps to conserve the batteries. It is a versatile mouse, and, with care, I've even used it to control PowerPoint presentations from across a room. I recommend it for anyone with a Bluetooth-enabled laptop.

Best bluetooth mouse for iMac,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Logitech V270 Cordless Optical Mouse for Bluetooth - Bright Silver (Personal Computers)
I recently bought the Logitech V270 to use with my brand new 24" iMac. I am very happy. It worked out of the box, no problems, and paired to the iMac without any need to read the instructions. It is massively better than the Apple BT mouse which I've used with this computer for a few weeks (and with a Mac Mini for more than a year), for many reasons including:
(1) much faster bluetooth pairing and reconnection after resuming from sleep mode; (2) smoother and more precise tracking onscreen; (3) less friction between the base of the mouse and my desktop; (4) the 2-button + scroll wheel design is much more intuitive and reflexive than either the Apple Mighty Mouse or the ordinary 1-button Apple BT mouse. As an aside, I got the V270 to replace the "Mighty Mouse" which came with the 24" iMac, but the dang thing never worked out of the box. Unpredictable, spurious clicks and random button/wheel action even when the Mighty Mouse was just sitting there, untouched and unused. Of course the Mighty Mouse is, at best, a screwball design even when it's working "properly," so I didn't waste a lot of time trying to debug it or get it replaced with a nondefective model.

I wanted to test out my bluetooth, so getting a bluetooth mouse was my solution. It works great. No more cords! One note: do not use the dell bluetooth driver. Just let windows xp recognize the mouse and all is well.

Good mouse for Powerbook,
By
This review is from: Logitech V270 Cordless Optical Mouse for Bluetooth - Bright Silver (Personal Computers)
This mouse worked right out of the box with my Powerbook. I had never set up a Bluetooth connection before, but it was quick and easy to do in System Preferences. Pointing is precise, and the scroll wheel works great. The default setting was too fast for me, and even after adjusting the pointer speed in the Keyboard & Mouse preference panel, the acceleration is a lot different than the old HP travel mouse I was using. I am getting used to it, though, so I don't think it's a problem. When I wake my Powerbook from sleep, it does take a few seconds for the mouse to reconnect, but I think I can get used to that, too. The color is darker than the Powerbook's aluminum case, but it matches well. The mouse feels great in the hand, and I'm happy to free up one my USB ports again. The power switch on the bottom will be nice when I toss it in my bag so I won't have to worry about battery drain.

wireless is wonderful!,

This review is from: Logitech V270 Cordless Optical Mouse for Bluetooth - Bright Silver (Personal Computers)
If you haven't tried a wireless mouse yet, let me tell you, it is just wonderful! No more clutter, no more tangling wire, no more pull against free movement. You'd wonder why they didn't invent this much earlier.
The flip side of wireless is battery life. I'm deeply disappointed in rechargble batteries. I have yet to have a gadget that run half the battery life as advertised. This mouse runs on 2 AA batteries, which I feel lot more comfortable with. It is nice to have and on/off switch for the conservation minded out there. Although I have forgot to power it off overnight. I have only used this for a week. The verdict is still out on how long the battery will last. The ergonomics is not my most favorite. I find its butt raise too high and I would prefer a smaller sized mouse. This is of course highly personal and even I have get used to it after a few days. One issue I still have is the wireless mouse move much faster compares to the onboard trackpoint and touchpad. Although I can adjust the mouse movement with the control panel, it would either be too fast for the mouse or too slow for the trackpoint. Anyway for me to adjust the mouse individually? Overall, this is a great wireless gadget that works!

Jumpy,
By
This review is from: Logitech V270 Cordless Optical Mouse for Bluetooth - Bright Silver (Personal Computers)
I've been working with this mouse for a couple of months now and I agree with most of the reviews that it is a good standard mouse. I also agree with graphic users who state that the "jumpy" quality and imprecision does not make this a mouse you want to do any kind of precise graphic work with. If you plan on using this mouse for Photoshop pathworking do not buy.
