I have ordered several NEW Harmony 890 remotes in the past and was a little hesitant to order a reconditioned one. I usually do not order reconditioned product, but need two of these for an install and the price was right on these. They came in a Plain brown box with the Logitech and Harmony logo on the outside and "factory remanufactured" printed in small type at the bottom. I opened the box and found both remotes to be in excellent condition. They are obviously not brand new but are in excellent condition. There were no scratches or marks on either of them. They had the screen protector on them that come with the new ones. The charging cradle and IR receiver were new. Both had the plastic wrap on them as new ones do. They are mint. The battery I think was also new. I cannot verify that but they both seem to have the battery life that new batteries would. The IR emitters and power transformers were obviously used as they were simply wound up by hand with no effort to make them neatly packaged.
After programming the remotes and testing them, I've not run into any problems whatsoever that I hadn't already encountered with new remotes. They work fine. I just ordered another one today. I normally don't order reconditioned product but the Amazon fast shipping, guarantee, and return process made it a viable choice for me and it turned out to work well with this item. Bottom Line - If you are thinking about saving some money on a Harmony 890 remote and are considering the reconditioned version, then go for it. If it's not what you expected you can alway return it. More than likely you will end up keeping it!

Logitech support service is the worst I have ever encoumtered,

purchased new Harmony 890 to replace the same unit that broke after 3 years. Rep stated there was a hardware failure and needed a new unit. Tried to install new unit. Called Logitech was on phone for 3 hours configuring the remote and performing various donwloads and upgrades. None worked. Tried to speak to supervisor. All were busy. Was escalated to advanced tech support. They were supposed to call me the next day, never called. Regular support cannot contact advanced support directly with their issues. They can onmly e-mail to advance support. I have dealt with many electronic support companies, this is the worst that I have ever encountered. It has been 3 days since I have recieved my remote and still have not recieved any help from logitech

I have bought 4 refurbs now, 2 were good, 2 were bad. On one, I actually called Logitech with the error code, and they immediately told me the memory was bad. On the other, the keys stuck, and some did not even work. They must just rebox returns with no quality check. It may seem like a good deal, but don't buy refurbs from Logitech.

I bought this product with the hope to hide AV system behind the wall. Unfortunally, the RF extender did not work and it have to be replaced. Even while I received a very good email support the unit still does not work and, as I read on internet, it is a very common problem.

I bought the 890 refurbished. What a poor customer experience this has been!
When I connected the rf extender, I received a corruption error. I referenced it on the Logitech website and found that Amazon.com has been shipping corrupt rf extenders (refurbished by Logitech) for several months. On the Logitech website, it stated that Logitech was sending customer a new rf extender when they called in the problem. Logitech looked up my remote and informed me that it appears that I used the remote 9 months ago (I got it three days ago) and that they couldn't support me unless I purchased a support incident. I unsuccessfully escalated my concern. Instead Logitech support (and sales) support acted helpless and told me that I could either pay Logitech to support this problem or return the item to Amazon. I am now returning the item after spending the past three days trying to configure it. The support person at Logitech even denied having any information about a problem with th RF extenders. A different support person posted the following on the Logitech support website: The Following PID's (Found on the bottom side of the RF Extender) are affected with this issue: All PID's should have an R as the final letter LZ841 LZ917 LZ918 LZ919 Unfortunately this issue cannot be resolved with Firmware or Software updates and will need to be replaced. Please contact support to get this resolved.

I ordered this refurb because the price seemed great. Well the first remote came and it seemed to be fine until I tried to use the volume button. You had to push the up volume button so hard that it seems pretty clear this is what it was returned for in the first place. I requested a replacement. Again it looks nice, just like new, but this one wouldn't even accept any programing from the logitech software. Couldn't update firmware or anything. At this point I am only able to return this for a refund. I have other harmony remotes and I have loved them (just getting old and buttons don't all work anymore), but I wouldn't buy another refurbished unit, look for a deal on a new one instead. Amazon as always is good to do business with, the replacement arrived very quickly, not their fault it is broken.

This is my second universal remote. I won one a while back an it was nice to use but not without some bugs. So when I saw this one on sale, I decided to get it. I have really liked it. This remote has some very nice features. The first one I noticed was that it is motion sensitive. When you pick it up, the buttons light up so you can see what you want to do. It runs everything with ease. The set up is simple. You do need to know your model numbers but after that it is easy to follow the on screen instructions. My biggest problem with the last one is that it did not hold a charge. This lasts the night of watching tv, 6 hours, out of the charger and still works. I could never tell this was a refurb. Very glad I bought it.

I received my first remote about 2 weeks ago, I was unable to update the remote through the software I downloaded from Logitech's website. There seemed to be an issue with the memory in the remote and the software being able to write to it. I called Logitech the next day and went through about 10 different troubleshooting steps with them. The tech was unable to resolve the issue and he escalated it to the next level tech and they would return my call in 1-2 days. I thought, no big deal, that will be fine. 3 days past and I did not receive a return call, so I called support again and asked when I would receive a call, the tech said it is usually in 3-4 days and that their techs are very busy. I waited another day and did not receive a call. The next day I called again and the tech tried to troubleshoot the issue again, but was unable to resolve the problem and I asked for a warranty return. I was on the phone for 108 minutes, he placed me on hold to complete the warranty claim (approval from manager) and after another 25 minutes my call was dropped. I called back and again had to rehash everything from my previous conversations and told the person I had a warranty claim in process. He could not find anything entered in the system about a warranty claim and then started to troubleshoot the device again. I asked to speak with his manager, placed me on hold for 10 minutes and said that his team leader is unavailable. He asked if I would like to be called back or if I wanted to hold. I told him this entire story, he said he was a customer himself and that what I am experiencing is unacceptable. He assured me that I would receive a call back that day from his manager or from himself. I agreed and waited for my call. The call has not come, I haven't received a call back from them once, 2 weeks later. The remote has NEVER worked and they would not let me make a warranty claim. I contacted Amazon, they sent out a new remote that I received yesterday and the right next arrow button to get through the tutorial to even use the remote does not work. I am assuming that Logitech just repackages the remotes shipped back to them without any testing and their support will give you the run around. I will never do business again with Logitech and I will tell everyone I know my experience with this company. Logitech's product, quality control and customer support are the worst I have ever experienced.

I bought this remote to stop the neverending complaining form my wife about "why are there so many remotes?", "where's the remote?", "how do I watch a dvd, again?". This remote solved all my problems! Now I just get, "why didn't you buy this sooner!"

I love this remote, I can switch from playing Wii to watching a DVD with 1 button. It changes the input source on my reciever, the T.V. then turns on the DVD player and then it completely controls every feature on the player. It's that easy. I did have a little difficulty with setup it originally had the first 2 inputs on my reciever reversed. once I figured that out it was an easy fix. Overall great little gadget, a little pricey but, it's very nice having 1 remote instead of going nuts searching all over the house for the dvd player remote, because you don't use it that often and, it's never where it is supposed to be when you need it.
