I have purchased Logitech products for years and found they are well constructed and usually have user beneficial features that justify their higher cost (example: the shape of their mouse which conforms to your hand and wrist so that you don't get tired like the competitor's mice). One advantage to this keyboard is the tactile feel of the keys. I hoped that the keys would be larger than the virtual keyboard of the iPad 2. They are slightly smaller so a person with small to small-medium will love them. Those with large fingers are going to have the same problem as they have with the iPad's keyboard.
The keys across the top are a real time saver: home, search, slide show, show/hide iPad keyboard, cut, copy, paste, iTunes-previous, iTunes-play/pause, iTunes-next, mute, volume up, volume down, and sleep/restore. The next row are your standard numbers and characters. The rest of the keyboard is just like a full size with command, control, option/alt, and 4 direction keys.
I have a leather case that my iPad is in and so I just place it behind the keyboard and it works fine. If you choose to place the naked iPad in the slot so it will be tilted up, it is held securely by a bar (much better than cases where there are grooves in the leather). When you are finished, you place it face down onto the keys. There is good protection for the iPad but the iPad's solid back is vulnerable. Rubber bumpers in the corners hold the iPad securely. I suspect that over time they will compress and not hold as tightly but that will depend on usage and don't think this is a factor unless you will be taking your iPad out at every class.
The charging pigtail is only about 6" long so I will leave it attached and disconnect at the USB end so as to avoid the broken connection problem that others have experienced. I can not provide a time until recharging is needed. Bluetooth range from the iPad is about 40'. The aluminum case is light and attractive.
If you do a significant amount of typing, this keyboard is much better than the iPad's. I've looked at several other keyboards and they all have about the same size keys. This one has more extra keys and it will make up for the extra time it takes you to type if you have large fingers.
If the Logitech keyboard was priced around $79 I would call it a bargain. Is it worth a little more? Probably. If you don't get the features this one has, I suspect you will be sorry you did not spend a little more and have them.
