4.0 out of 5 stars Stay away from this controller
Like someone else, who posted a review here, I went through 2 of these. I ordered one online and when I recieved it both the circle button and d-pad were stuck. I couldn't repair it without taking it apart and I didn't want to do that. I returned it and decided to buy another one.

I purchased a second one at Best Buy and it had the EXACT same problem. I took this one...

I only half heartingly reccomend this item.. solely because there isnt anything comparable out there other than a seperate keyboard .. which usually runs 19.99.. If you can find this item on sale.. i would say if you must.. get it.. its faults..

I only half heartingly reccomend this item.. solely because there isnt anything comparable out there other than a seperate keyboard .. which usually runs 19.99.. If you can find this item on sale.. i would say if you must.. get it.. its faults..

(all on ffxi as what i have played it on)

the dpad isnt very accurate.. when scrolling numbers in AH it sometimes goes left when i want to go up..

the keyboard is super sensitive.. making me tyyyyyyyyyyyyype like thissssssssssssss.

As i played it.. a few months later... the left stick began to fault.. now it veers to the left almost always.. and will move forward when i am not pushing anything. it, too, doesnt control accuratly

the vibration function will cause it to switch the analog mode off so the sticks dont work.. very annoying.

luckily.. ffxi doesnt require much in the line of exact control... so I am fine with it.. until it eventually completely quits..

the unit would be useless to control a platforming type game that requires more exact control.

To be fair, customer service did offer to fix it.. but who wants to be w/o a controller while already addicted to ffxi?

4.0 out of 5 stars Stay away from this controller, July 7, 2004

Like someone else, who posted a review here, I went through 2 of these. I ordered one online and when I recieved it both the circle button and d-pad were stuck. I couldn't repair it without taking it apart and I didn't want to do that. I returned it and decided to buy another one.

I purchased a second one at Best Buy and it had the EXACT same problem. I took this one apart and fixed the problem and began to play with it. It's easy to fix once you remove all 20 screws. I suggest if you have the problem to just return it and get your money back.

The analog sticks are slick and they don't have any gripping power like the original Sony controller. My thumbs were sliding off of them during gameplay. I found myself stretching my thumbs a little bit in order to move the stick all the way forward. They probably changed the specs for people who have huge hands.

The 8 direction d-pad is horrible. It's a big circle that is terrible for simple up/down & left/right movement. It's only good if you need 360 degrees of movement. I really hate these circle d-pads because they never have good response. Nintendo has it right with their 4 direction d-pads especially the SNES one.

The vibration feature was a good idea but since the Netplay is so heavy the effects are weak. The keyboard portion of the controller is ok. It's basically a laptop sized keyboard. Seems pretty sturdy but I noticed that sometimes letters would get repeated 3-4 times. Maybe it was caused by some lag. For some reason you can detach it.

Don't buy this. The controller portion doesn't compare to the original PS2 controller and it breaks easily. The buttons get easily stuck and it's a pain to take it apart to fix. Two other people here had the same problems as me so I'm sure it's more than just a bad batch or a coincidence.

It's a shame ASCII didn't make something like this. They are great at replicating original design specs when it comes to controllers. Their GameCube keyboard/controller is awesome and works perfectly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for MMORPGs, May 9, 2004

I play Final Fantasy XI alot and I find this controller a must buy for those of us who indulge in MMORPGs. It has easy access to all the keys so macros are just a keystroke away. It just makes life easier for these types of games. It would work wonderful for EQOA too. The only gripe I have is that I find it hard to play normal PS2 games with this controller. I usually switch to a regular type of controller for those games. If you love MMORPGs then this is a must buy.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good idea, bad Quality Control, September 21, 2004

Like some others here, I'm also on my second Netplay keyboard return that's about to go back with a stuck "O" button. I called Logitech customer support about this issue, and stated they had no reports of anyone else with similar issues. Doesn't sound too promising, so I will probably end up getting my money back. Too bad, as it is a good idea, too - if only the quality control matched the idea.

1.0 out of 5 stars not worth it, October 2, 2006
This review is from: Logitech NetPlay Controller (Sony Playstation 1 & 2) (Personal Computers)
This is my second purchase of one of these controllers.. my first one worked fine for the most part.. the keyboard had to be replaced but it wasn't a big deal. I just got a new one for my 2nd PS2 and straight out of the box the controller doesn't work. Somehow it seems to be internally stuck in the left direction.. and I have no idea how to calibrate it. So I'm just using my keyboard and basic controller.. irritating, but it works.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's A Ok!, December 29, 2005
This review is from: Logitech NetPlay Controller (Sony Playstation 1 & 2) (Personal Computers)
I haven't had any problems with mine to date and i had it for 2 years now. It works great. I wish everyone else had as much fun as i've had out of mine. But its a great concept. I don't have to juggle a keyboard and a controller seperately so it works out for me, especially playing FFXI. (^~^)

4.0 out of 5 stars Received Replacement/Works Great, June 12, 2004

I got a brand new replacement (...)P>It seems the keyboard was out of warranty already, even though I got it new from another retailer (whom I won't buy from again.) Perhaps there was a bad batch of these?

Anyhow, the keyboard is great, and one doesn't have to switch keyboard and controller anymore. It's contoured nicely to sit on one's lap.

My only complaint is that some of the keys could be bigger. Like the tab key, and all the punctuation keys around the return button.

4.0 out of 5 stars I finally got what I've wanted, March 16, 2005
This review is from: Logitech NetPlay Controller (Sony Playstation 1 & 2) (Personal Computers)
I have to admit it ---- I'm spoiled. I want things the way I want it, when I want it. That's why I wanted this keyboard. Because I wanted to play my PC games the way I wanted to play them.
However, when this product arrived at my house, I realized that it was for PS2 (no, I didn't bother looking at the product details - I just knew I wanted it - not to mention it was USB, so it HAD to work with PC, right??) Anyway, when I plugged it in, logged in, I realized real quick that it didn't work with PC.

However, by the grace of God, I'm blessed with the love of my life, and he reminded me that Radio Shack sells a converter for the Playstation Adapter to USB Adapter, part number 26-304 priced at about $12). I couldn't get there fast enough.

I plugged it in, plugged in both cords (the USB it comes with and the PS-to-USB) and now it works fine... All I have to do now is configure the keys to match the controller that I had, and I'll be back in business.

Some people have complained that they've had stuck keys and various other problems... I'd like to say that my controller must be the one they put together right because I have no problems and I love my keyboard. If you buy it, all I can say is good luck.. and IT DOES WORK WITH PC!!!!

All you real gamers out there, have fun and Be Blessed.

Respectfully,

Carolyn Jackson

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Logitech NetPlay Controller (Sony Playstation 1 & 2) (Personal Computers)
Got this item yesterday and it does not work correctly :(
The keboard functions fine. Nice soft keys, feels like quality Logitech. The PS2 controller section also feels nice to the touch but unfortunately it doesn't work. The direction pad seems to be "internally" stuck in the right position. Possibly a calibration issue, but was provided with just a web address for Troubleshooting.
So for the bargain price of under five dollars, I have a spiffy compact Logitech keyboard for my PS2 and the controller is tossed in the junk pile.

3.0 out of 5 stars Awsome If you get a working one, December 13, 2007
This review is from: Logitech NetPlay Controller (Sony Playstation 1 & 2) (Personal Computers)
This keyboard/controller combo works awsome if you can get one that actually works right. I have used these for years but have probably returned about 10 of them. They come defective, keys often type backwards and the controller buttons come stuck.
