5.0 out of 5 stars This thing is so great I had to write a review!
This device works exactly as advertised. The keyboard, while not quite as nice as my regular PC keyboard, is ten times better than any laptop keyboard.

Anyone who needs to use their laptop to do some serious typing at a remote location should order one of these things immediately!

You may also use this at home if you are too cheap to buy separate...

Now I see why some people hate this and some people love it. If it worked properly, I'd be pretty happy and it would be 4 stars instead of 3.

THIS DOESN'T WORK WITH ALL LAPTOPS. If the front bottom edge of your laptop is tapered (like my Toshiba Satellite), then it will slide off the little rubber bumper that is supposed to hold up the computer! If you have a Dell, Thinkpad, Macbook, etc, then this should work fine because the bottom edge of those are very square.

The Good:
*Attractive design, nice materials (the palm rest is soft, magnetic "latch" to keep it closed, etc).
*Makes working for long periods of time much easier.

The Bad:
*Doesn't work with all laptops and doesn't tell you that until you open the box and find out the hard way - This is the main reason I only gave it 3 stars.
*The Esc and Function keys are smaller and lower than normal, making it harder to hit them without messing up your flow. This is a big deal for someone who uses those keys alot (like for photoshop actions or just using escape to get passed alert boxes).

For the money, you can get a regular usb keyboard and a seperate laptop stand that, overall, will be more functional and not have the same shortcomings as this product. But it probably won't be as visually attractive if you did it that way. Still, it sucks having to hack something you just bought to get it to work right (with my Toshiba).

Anyone who needs to use their laptop to do some serious typing at a remote location should order one of these things immediately!

You may also use this at home if you are too cheap to buy separate a monitor and keyboard for your notebook, but the separate keyboard and monitor, along with a docking station, is the better solution for those who can afford it and have the space to leave it permanently set up.

Some caveats: (1) It takes up a lot more desk space than just using your laptop computer by itself; (2) the no skid pad, while effectively preventing the keyboard from skidding, is a real dirt magnet; (3) although it folds easily for storage, it's pretty heavy so it's not something you would carry around all the time--it weighs more than twice as much as my little Sony Vaio; (4) the power adapter, which is only needed if you want to power up the built-in USB hub, is NOT included.

1.0 out of 5 stars I am really disappointed!!!, December 10, 2007
This review is from: Logitech Alto Notebook Stand w/Integrated Keyboard (Personal Computers)
My Dell Inspiron 1505 keeps slipping from the stand. This is not designed for laptops with a round or angled edge, like the Dell.

It's also a magnet for dust and particles. I am shocked that that I did not see it mentioned before.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great stand, major flaw, August 4, 2007
This review is from: Logitech Alto Notebook Stand w/Integrated Keyboard (Personal Computers)
The stand works great, the keyboard works great, it was just what I was looking for to allow me to work with my laptop for long periods of time.

But. It looks like the powered hub is really screwed up, and THAT'S why the power adapter is unavailable. You plug power into the keyboard and the keyboard shuts down. No keyboard, no hub. That's what happened to me when I used a universal power adapter.

If this is true, I'm VERY disappointed in Logitech - that they would "solve" this problem by hiding all the power adapters, instead of admitting and fixing the real problem.

I use this every day and I just love it. It raises the screen on my laptop to an easier viewing level. The keyboard is also a plus. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this product

1.0 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY FOR MAC NOTEBOOKS, December 7, 2007

The mechanism that props the notebook up is not adjustable, and will not lay flat enough for MacBook / Pro notebooks to angle the display properly. The rubbery finish attracts dust and dirt like crazy, the feel of the keyboard is repulsively squishy, and the overall design of clasps / inputs is simply sub-par. For $70, I was expecting a higher-end piece of hardware, not this total piece of junk. Don't buy it--it's a gimmick.

Very nice, well constructed, gorgeous design. I have multiple laptops on my desktop and this works great for keeping it all looking nice and clutter free. Makes the screen sit up at eye level, and the keyboard has a perfect feel and finger response for working all day on them.

It would get a 5 from me if not for two things: The USB hub works as an unpowered hub, but if you want a powered hub you have to buy an adapter and I cannot find where they sell one, so am assuming you have to go to RS or somewhere and get a universal. And it would be a perfect score if they added cooling fans into the base to cool the bottom of the laptop, although I should not complain because my laptop feels very cool on top of it even without fans, so maybe they know more than I do.

All in all, you will love it and recommend it also after you use it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected, December 31, 2007

I just received my new Logitech notebook stand and love it! I travel a lot and often work for hours on my laptop, but sitting at a desk for a long time with my head tipped down is uncomfortable. This product works exactly as advertised and is so much more comfortable to use. It is larger and heavier than my PC, however, so taking it with me on trips isn't as easy as I had hoped. However, on the whole, I'm very pleased with it and will be using it for years to come. Highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great stand & keyboard but absolutely useless USB ports, August 15, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Logitech Alto Notebook Stand w/Integrated Keyboard (Personal Computers)
As title said, especially I like the keyboard. No software needed for special keys, like volume control. The only withdraw is USB ports. Like other people mentioned, no power cord is included. If you plug in anything into any of the USB ports, it won't work as long as the device requires electricity. With this price, I do believe the power cord should be included. And because of the price and the withdraw, I think it is worth 3 stars only.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, August 3, 2009
This review is from: Logitech Alto Notebook Stand w/Integrated Keyboard (Personal Computers)
Bought this laptop stand after seeing one in my workplace. I have a rather large Dell MX1730 laptop (huge by laptop standards) and this stand holds it very nicely. I have to rest the bottom edge in the trough as it's simply too big and heavy to rest it on the little rubber pieces designed to hold the front edge of the laptop, but this IN NO WAY takes away from the stands' usefulness. The keyboard is solid, and the keys themselves are tight - not rattling around like some other junk third party items I've tried. It is quick and easy to setup (about 20-30 seconds). If you have a small laptop bag, chances are good this won't fit inside it - but if you travel alot, this can very easily get dropped into a carry on bag so you can use it at the hotel later. This stand fits very nicely in my larger laptop case designed for the 17" laptop. As an IT professional, I've tried a LOT of products over the years. This is a very well thought-out product. Thumbs up Logitech!
