5.0 out of 5 stars For the $49 I paid for it, this wheel rocks!
I bought this wheel at GameStop and, although the box was marked as $99 it rang up as $49. The clerk checked twice. At any rate, even at $99 this wheel is probably worth the money. For what I paid, it is a great addition to the realism of driving on the PS3.

I bought this wheel at GameStop and, although the box was marked as $99 it rang up as $49. The clerk checked twice. At any rate, even at $99 this wheel is probably worth the money. For what I paid, it is a great addition to the realism of driving on the PS3.

My home system has a 42" LG LCD television connected via HDMI cable and the sound is routed through my Yamaha RX995V stereo home theater receiver and Klipsch speakers all around. Needless to say, this setup provides outstanding realism and ambiance. Now the addition of the wheel makes driving GT5P, F1 Championship Series and Grid that much more immersing.

Sure, the Driving Force GT wheel is better in some ways, but it also $100 more and has it's own flaws. I know because I originally bought the Driving Force GT thinking it would be wireless between the unit and the PS3 but not so. My PS3 is on the other side of the room and I don't really want a ton of wires laying around everywhere because my dog would be knocking things over left and right. The other problems aside from the wires with the Driving Force GT wheel are a) you need a table to attach it to and b) even with a table, you will be very uncomfortable sitting on the edge of your average couch to get close enough to the table to actually race.

The Driving Force Wireless on the other hand sits very comfortably on your lap while you sit back in your favorite chair. No wires laying across the room, although it does require a wall outlet nearby. The force feedback on this unit is surprisingly good. You will feel every bump and whack along the way. The paddles that sit behind your hands on the wheel work effectively as accelerator and brakes, plus the L1/R1 buttons (used for shifting in GT5P) are right there under your thumbs. It took me maybe two races to get the feel down cold.

So hey, if you like to race and you think there is something better out there than the Six Axis Controller you are right, and this is it!

This is my first driving wheel for games and got this on sale for $50 on a local store. What drew me to it further was the wireless feature. I didn't want wires in my living room so i figured this would work out perfectly and it did (there is still a wire for power though). It is simple and i can easily grab it and play with my PS3. I just wanted simple and that works with GT5 pro, RR7 and other demo driving games (Grid,NFS Prostreet etc.) I'm really happy with it and really didn't mind having the accelerator and break controls on the paddle shifters. I was really surprised how comfortable it is having it resting on my lap and i can seat comfortably and play on my recliners. The force feedback is very good as well, gives you the feeling that you're really driving in the game. Now i really enjoy playing with GT5 with cockpit view or just the head's up display. For the price and convenience i give it 5 stars. I was originally thinking of getting the G25 but that would require me to invest more on racing seats, wheel stand etc..This is a lot better option than the PS3 game pad driving. But for the amount of time i play with my PS3 this wheel is good enough for me.

First off don't try to compare this to a Logitech G25 or G27. This is a lap steering wheel and is a huge upgrade from playing with a standard controller. The stability is good in the lap and the force feedback is great for a steering wheel in this price range. Yes it doesn't have the pedals but to be honest you really don't need them unless you plan on spending money on a stand and a more expensive wheel. Overall for the price you really can't beat it.

4.0 out of 5 stars For the price - can't be beat, September 21, 2010
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars

Just a quick summary:

Pros - Great feedback, lightweight, reputable manufacturer, easy to set up, no wires from PS3 or TV to the controller, works from a recliner with no DIY home racing set up required.

Cons - No pedals or Shifter. Less feedback than it's more expensive siblings. If you prefer manual transmission, the placing of the L1 & L2 will cause thumb cramps for an adult sized hand.

I wanted something that didn't require much set up and could be played sitting on my recliner in my lap. For that, it works great. For the low cost, even better. If you are a hardcore racing fan, bump up to one of the other wheels, this is for casual fans only.

The wheel is awesome. The only downside is that it has to be plugged in to AC POWER to work. That is the only downfall. Other than that it is amazing, a lot more convenient than a controller.

5.0 out of 5 stars Doing over 200 mph while in bed., October 24, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

I bought this steering wheel so that I could use it with Gran Turismo 5 (GT5). There are no foot pedals for brake and acceleration (which is fine, since I wanted to drive from my bed after the house was buttoned up for the night)... Gran Turismo 5 has just now been updated for this specific piece of hardware, and the handling is now greatly improved... There is only a single cord leading away from the wheel on my lap, which is it's power source. Other than that, it's completely wireless and comfortable...

The brake and accelerator are in easy reach of my fingers and the base of the unit expands for comfort.

So...There I am, sitting in bed with the lights out and this steering wheel on my lap... The car I'm driving is doing somewhere over 200 mph, and the force feedback from the steering wheel as I round turns, or drive on the road's shoulder to beat the competition is a PURE RUSH.

I am happy.

Get one with a gas and brake pedal, this one doesn't allow for any ease of use or fun, and only worked with 2 of the 6 games I tried it with.

4.0 out of 5 stars First wheel I ever had & it is really great, but not really wireless., July 23, 2011
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Logitech Playstation 3 Driving Force Wireless Force Feedback Wheel (Accessory)
I bought this wheel used, because it's no longer made and hasn't been made for a long time now. Unfortunately it is the ONLY Wireless Wheel out there that has ANALOG gas & brake levers behind the wheel itself and it sits on your lap. I can't have foot pedals, since I have to keep my feet & legs elevated, so I did a lot of searching for a wireless wheel with Analog levers on the wheel. This is the only only one out there for the PC. After weeks of searching and reading, there was no other choice.
.
It's not really wireless and unfortunately I will have to sell it off and stick with a gamepad or give up racing games. The controls are "wireless", but the unit itself has to be powered with 24VDC, so there's still a cord. That does not work for me. I have to use completely wireless, so even though the wheel is touted as wireless, it's not what I needed. I did fire it up and I'll tell anyone thinking about a wheel, go ahead and get one!! It is so much more enjoyable to use a wheel. You feel like you really are driving the car and you have to learn a whole new set of skills. It's worth every penny, so just go get a wheel and be happy, but remember anything wireless with force feedback may have a separate power supply, so do your research better than I did. None of the info I found told me it had a power supply, but it did.
.
This wheel was responsive and worked in all the games I tried. Newer titles like Shift and Grid worked and older titles like NASCAR 2004 worked as well. The newer games are really made for wheels, as they have lots os control settings and threshold settings for wheels.
.
Overall this was a fun wheel, but not really wireless in my book.
