Puts out a decent level of sound from an inexpensive set of speakers. It looks best suited for someone that travels with an iPod and wants to listen to tunes at the hotel without sticking the earpods in the ear, and it satisfies that need--quite good sound for such a small unit but of course it's not gonna match the bigger Bose or Apple or Klipsch or similar units that you might sit on your desk. A note of caution--while the description refers to routing the charging cable, this unit does not charge your iPod. All it does about charging is to let you put your separate charging cord from your separate charger through a hole in this unit--don't be mislead by the mention of "holds your iPod cables for charging" that it has anything to do with actually charging your iPod. The travel bag is 13" long by 4" around, which is the size of the unit (it doesn't fold in half or anything like that), so it's fairly portable. Volume is definitely acceptable, as I see some reviews for similar products comment about issues with the volume on those units. Just make sure your iPod volume is turned into the top half so the speaker unit isn't trying to do magic with very low input.

Based on the pictures shown on Amazon as well as Logitech's web site, one would believe the dropping your iPod into the dock charges and provides the audio connection to the speakeres. You'd be incorrect on both counts. You still have to plug into the computer to charge this thing, and there's a cable (not shown in any of the pictures) that you have to plug into the top of your iPod to make the audio connection.
We returned this item and went with something by Altec Lansing in the same price range instead...we're much happier with it.

What you need to know --This is not a docking station --It is simply 2 speakers held together by a plastic holder --The IPOD does not lock in to any prongs, simply rests loosely in the plastic cradle --You can use 4 AA batteries with no AC, however your IPOD does not charge --Comes with an AC adapter, so you can choose this method, although there are better choices if you plan on using AC power --If you wish to simul-charge your IPOD, you must supply your own IPOD charger cable and slip it under this device (it locks in to a small plastic inset) --You can charge your IPOD while you are playing music --Device is weighty and feels pretty solid --Important, there is a hidden headset jack that must be used to play your IPOD-this is NOT SHOWN on any of the pictures, this seems to be deceptive --Sound is respectable for the size, portability and price CONS --The black headset jack. This device would be pretty darn good if it had a bottom loading mechanism to play music --Very little bass and the deeper sounds are just about lost, but again pretty good for the price --Remember to charge your IPOD otherwise you'll have to break out your cable POSITIVES --It's profile, I can hide it on my bathroom vanity and when I'm not using it virtually disappears --I can pick it up and move it to another room--the battery power is nice and AA batteries make it easy to supply --I think it is the best device in it's price range, simply b.c it is so small AND has the battery only option which was critical to me Summary: So if size and using battery power are the most important aspects for you, this is a good choice. I needed something I could use for about 30 minutes a day while I was getting ready for work. This little gadget lays across the back of my vanity and you can hardly tell it's there. It's a bit of a pain to plug in the headset jack, and certainly it is not attractive, but again it's profile was so appealing. I looked at some of the nicer sets, but many came with a transformer or sub woofer, and I wanted something I could stick a few batteries in and pick up and move around if I needed to.
