Adequate performance for a cheap webcam,

Logitech is a company that has won numerous awards both for product design and functionality. I was pleased to see this characteristic extend even to their lower-priced offerings.
The Logitech QuickCam Chat appears to be the latest iteration of their popular QuickCam Messenger. As far as styling is concerned, it is quite basic and unremarkable. The ball shape and superiorly-placed shutter button are quite typical for Logitech webcams. Package was basic but complete, and included a rudimentary set of headphones with a microphone for videocalls (apparently the application to which this particular model is geared to). Also included were a quick guide, and a software installation CD. The webcam itself has a standard multi-directional swivel on a ball-joint, and is mounted on a semi-flexible stand. This stand can be molded to fit on practicaly any surface, even the top of a notebook PC's screen. Installation of the software and camera was smooth and I had it up and running in a few minutes. Camera video performance was adequate during most indoor lighting conditions. A focus ring was available for fine-tuning, but I left it alone since it appeared to have been preset for the standard focal distance of about 2-3 feet. Still photos, as are typical for CMOS cameras, were of extremely poor quality. It is interesting to note how people blame the camera for "choppy video" or "grainy pictures", when these are obviously the result of a slow internet connection and poor lighting conditions. For the price, this web camera can't be beat for basic video chat. Why anyone would even want to use it for any other application, let alone for taking still pictures is beyond me.

This webcam is really good for this kind of price, as long as you follow the instructions in the book, you have no problems at all, if the picture is blurry, all you have to do is turn the lense to the quality that you want!!..I'm very happy with this webcam, and I do recommended it.

this sucks,

i just bought this web cam at staples and it sucks. the picture quality is grainy and even with a 60 watt light shining on me from 4 feet away there's not enough light for a decent picture.
I'm taking in right back to the store tomorrow. Don't pick up a cheap web cam just to try it out - other wise you'll end up doing the same as me and plan on spending $50 for something like Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000. Teach me to check customer ratings before I buy.

Piece of JUNK,

This is the first and the last product I buy from Logitech. The picture IS VERY GRAINY AND PIXELATED. Also the colors are AWFUL. I have looked at my friends' cameras and ALL of them (at the same price level) have a much better picture quality. This camera is really, really bad.
I twisted the ring near the lens and could bring the picture into focus. It is not blurry... BUT IT IS STILL GRAINY AND PIXELATED! *VERY* GRANY! WORST camera at all!! People who think this camera is good for this price are so naive... Amazing! There are LOTS of cameras for the SAME price which are MUCH better!! It looks like the first cameras introduced years ago. It worths no more than 2 or 3 bucks. Logitech: NEVER more!

Great Bargain for the Price,

The picture quality is very good for a $30 camera. It sounds like the reviewers who think it is very blurry neglected to twist the ring near the lens which brings the picture into focus. So if you follow the instructions it will work well.

I had not expected such a bad quality camera from Logitech. Its picture quality is very poor, extremely grainy and dark. I was very dissapointed, my 6 year old webcam does a much better job. I will not recommend it for even the first timers.

Average performer, need more light,

This web cam needs lot of light, otherwise the image is dark. The video is not very smooth. The good thing is that you can focus and it comes with a very handy ear plug+mic, which is very cute.

Misleading description Logitech expects customer to pay for.,

I bought two of these cameras becuase the box shows a picture of the camera cliped to the edge of an LCD monitor. I wanted to clip it to my laptop. The side panel also lists a monitor stand as part of the specs.
The package came with no such clip and when I contacted Logitech about it via e-mail, I was told I could buy one from them by calling their 800 number. Instead they'll be returned and I'll buy cameras from a vendor that delivers what they promise.

the camera shows a dark picture, even with lots of light in the room, it's also a reddish color. i recommend you pay a little extra for better quality

I have put my comment in title itself - Terribly disappointing.
Picture comes very blurred despite good light condition. I would recommend others to spend few more bucks and get a better web cam. |
