I wanted to give you an idea of the difference that the quality of this webcam versus the quality of the built in webcam that came with the laptop that I'm using. The RightLight Technology is awesome.

I initially purchased a webcam by microsoft. The picture was not good, and for some reason I got static on the sound. I returned it right away and exchanged it for logitech webcam. All I can say is WOW. The picture quality is absolutely incredible, the sound is amazing, it was extremely easy to install, easy to use - and I am even using it instead of the built in isight webcam on my macbook which I feel does not have good picture quality at all - this is 10X better! I highly recommend it.

I read several reviews for webcams. The reviews for this Logitech QuickCam Communicate MP seemed positive so I ordered one. Installation was quick and easy: Put in the CD, follow the instructions, plug in the webcam when told to (not before or Windows will install the wrong driver.)

The picture is very good and everyone tells me the microphone is clear and crisp. It picks up voices from anywhere in my home office (former bedroom). It has a privacy slide that covers the lens or you can use the software to put up any default picture from your hard drive. The pop up software provides a graphic 'ribbon' menu to choose from a small selection of special effects for both voice and picture. (The webcam built into my son's Dell Inspirion has MANY more features but this has a better picture.) It sits on top of my 17" Dell LCD monitor very nicely. It has image tracking to follow your image, moving and zooming as necessary. The response for this is very slow but I like that it adds a little movement to an otherwise static image; it kind of pans around a little. This feature can be turned off if you like.

I bought it for Skype and it works flawlessly. Of all the webcams out there, if you're looking for something relatively inexpensive with a good picture and sound, this is an excellent investment. I use FWINK for my web page and selected QuickCam. When I use Skype it automatically switches over, then back when it's done. I can't do that with my older webcam.

I gave it five stars and may buy another one. I think it's a good deal.

Previously we purchased a cheaper web cam. This was not a good thing. We then decided upon the logitech. The picture is great and we are enjoying being able to talk to our friends and see them at the same time. This was a great purchase for us!

I actually purchased 3 of these. I have 2 new Grandsons and one of my sons had a webcam that he and his wife use in communicating with her parents who live in Germany. I bought my cam and it worked so well that I then purchased 2 for my other sons so everyone could watch the boys grow. I found this cam very easy to use. The video is great. I was amazed at the low price because I feel it is a quality product and I have already recommended it to other grandparents that I know.

I purchased this webcam because i use Skype and wanted it on my other computer. i had seen some reviews that stated that they had problems getting it to work. i got it today, installed it and am using it and it is working perfectly. i am very well pleased with this product and highly recommend it.

granted, I'll never use this camera for shooting a home video, but it just about could. It was simple to install and worked great from the start. I've been using it to Skype friends and family and they've said they've never seen a clearer video. It's a great deal.

On the positive side, I can say it works but spotty at times. Video is often grainy, out-of-focus and sometimes, if the light is not just right, the camera will not image at all. When this happens, I have found that pointing the camera at a light will trigger it on...most times. this may sound obvios but the best results are obtained with consistent lighting illuminating the subject (a small desk lamp...) with no backlight from windows, ceiling lights, etc.
After buying three as gifts for Xmas presents, I ended up buying a Pro9000 2.0 MP and there is a remarkable improvement in overall sensitivity and resolution...much more than I would have reasonably imagined. Those gift receivers that got the 1.3 MP were a bit unhappy.
The Pro 9000 2.0 MP is so much better than the "lower resolution" cameras, don't waste you time with this one (1.3 MP)...it is especially a hassle for older folks...
Note also that unless both ends of the link have decent internet access (cable or DSL or fiber), this sort of thing is a disappointment altogether...

Being a techy guy I really wanted to get a fancier web cam, but when I saw what good results my friends and parents got with this one, I couldn't pass it up for being less than half the price. I wasn't disappointed, it works great. 1.3MP might not be great for photos, but works great with Skype. I used it on Windows Vista x64, but looks like it supports Linux as well, haven't tried that yet.

We are very pleased that we chose this webcam. We had it set up and software installed within an hour using windows xp. We were able to Skype people immediately, which was the reason for the purchase. Sound and picture quality are good. Good value.
