The QuickCam Pro comes in parallel-port and USB versions. I tested the USB model, and installation was simple. The camera's capture software features an excellent interface and a large preview window; it's probably the best image-capture software I've seen with any video camera. The manual focus ring provides a wide and accurate focal range.
The camera has a maximum resolution of 640x480 pixels in 24-bit color. In my tests, still-image quality was excellent. Logitech gives you a wide range of image-adjustment options and also automatically optimizes every still-image capture to improve quality. The results are clear, sharp images that display good contrast.
The quality of captured moving images was not as good. It is almost impossible to avoid blur, and at the highest resolutions, I was only able to achieve frame rates of 5 frames per second (fps) or less. However, at 160x120 in 16-bit color, I was able to get about 24fps-good enough for video conferencing.
The QuickCam Pro also comes with NetMeeting for Internet video conferencing; Web publishing software from Ixla; Adobe PhotoDeluxe 2.0; Digital Arts & Sciences' ImageAXS for cataloging; RealPlayer for video e-mail; and software for creating Desktop themes.
While the Logitech QuickCam Pro doesn't match the image quality and performance of the Vista Imaging ViCAM on our WinList, it bests our previous WinList choice for low-end digital video camera, the Xirlink C-It Mobile. Despite its higher price, the QuickCam Pro replaces the Xirlink on our WinList.
Express yourself with high quality Stills andVideos.

Easy to Install, Easy to Use, Great Webcam for Beginners!,

The Logitech Quickcam Pro is extremely easy to install taking minutes to get the cam up and running! The picture quality is not fantastic but just make sure it's running in medium 340x to achieve a decent frame rate in videoconferencing and you will be fine. Also be sure to adjust the contrast in low level situations and you can focus by turning the camera lens on the "eyeball". Software is fantastic and lets you even edit your own videos. This webcam is very good for beginners, mailing out video e-mails, live video calls and talking to friends thousands of miles away. Again the quality will depend on your computer, your connection etc but it is very good for the price ... .

Good Quality at a slightly High Price,

I've been using this device as a webcam for my personal web site for about three months now. The QuickCAM Pro is a very reliable little camera, overall. The design is solid. If you can get past the aesthetic issues of staring at a little plastic eyeball, it serves its purpose well. The clip on the bottom is sturdy and useful. I wish that the camera could actually rotate from side to side also, enabling users to use the clip in a sideways position as well. The camera captures pictures with crisp color in moderate to good light. It does not perform exceptionally well in low-light. Objects at a distance greater than 2' or so from the camera are difficult to focus. The driver-based controls for lighting and gamma correction are very useful on the Logitech Quickcam. I have found that the white balance occasionally is off after a light change and must be manually reset in the software. The weakest point of this entire product is the software that is packaged with it. I found that Logitech's webcam capturing software would routinely overwrite the destination web page with a generic Logitech-based page. It does not provide any real methods for capturing and FTP'ing a single image. Overall, this is a good first camera. If you purchase it, consider installing the software just for the drivers, not for actually operating the camera. Then go find some third party webcam software such as Webcam 32, KABCam or Chill Cam and use that for your actual web page updates.

May not be supported!,

I own this camera, but mine has a beige focus ring. It seems as though Logitech will not develop Windows 2000 drivers for it, even though they stated on their webpage that they will offer Windows2000 drivers. My camera was only a few months old and they ditched support for it. If you buy this camera, dont be surprised if they don't support any newer operating systems. Oh yeah, Logitech's answer is to upgrade your camera.
