He says he plays better with these headphones because he can hear others and the sound within the game better.

The base station presents its self as a standard USB audio device when you connect to the mini-USB port, which makes PC gaming a snap.

Normally, I don't review my purchases, but I thought I would warn others so they don't make the same mistake I did.

I originally got the Sharkoon SP, focusing on the price range below $100. They're good - well constructed and comfortable. However, I was annoyed by the constant background hiss and the very heavy cable and volume control. Then I saw the Logitech F540's on sale, which brought it within reach of my budget. I am SO glad I got the Logitech headset - I love the cordless convenience and there is no hiss or static EXCEPT when I turn on the mic. I think that has something to do with the noise cancelling. These sound as good as my corded Sennheiser headphones. They're very well constructed, comfortable, and easy to use.

Granted, they're not surround sound and I find it hard to discern if the gunfire is to my left front or my left back - that split second to figure it out is enough to lose the duel. But I'd rather lose that fight than the one with the spouse!

And I read that to get the surround sound on a headset required numerous cables and power requirements, which means a cabled model that gets hot and cumbersome or a wireless model that drains too fast for my marathon sessions. And the cost difference was way too much to justify it.

I'd highly recommend this set!

From the moment I opened the box, I could tell this was a quality headset. It came very neatly packaged. But, you don't care about the packaging. I love this headset, it is extremely comfortable sitting on my head, and is not heavy. It is easy to forget you are wearing them. The great thing about them, though, is the excellent sound quality. The sound is crisp and clear. I found myself hearing things in the soundtrack that I never would have picked up on my tv's speakers. I was able to hear minute details in the background. In a first person game where you need to hear which direction the enemy is coming from, this headset makes it possible. The microphone picks up your voice perfectly, and background noise is eliminated. If you need to adjust your volume, there is a dial on the left ear piece for precisely that. Right next to is a dial to adjust your mic volume.

Now, I know these are "Game Audio" and the box says PS3/XBOX 360, but you can also listen to streaming audio with these devices. I found it great for listening to Netflix movies that weren't loud enough on my tv speakers. Also, if you have an cable with a 3.5mm audio jack end and an RCA left/right end, then you can use this headset for any audio device. I was able to hook it up to my computer and used the PS3 mic cable (which is just a USB). This allowed me to use the headset to talk on Skype, which was great. I even hooked my iphone up to it and listened to music all over my house. The wireless reached everywhere without any degradation in quality.

I highly recommend this headset to anyone looking for a wireless option.

Here's my video review of this headset. I bought it on Logitech.com but I figured you guys might also want to see the actual headphones. I also have an unboxing video on youtube if you'd like to see all of the contents. HD video on youtube. Visit the youtube page to read my answers to other people's questions.

[UPDATE] Hearing clicks and bleeps every few minutes during use of these headphones is NOT normal. It doesn't mean your headset is defective, you just need to move the hub away(just a bit until it stops) from your router or anything else that may be causing interference. As soon as I did that the noises vanished immediately!

I have had a lot of experience with headphones. I own Beats by Dr. Dre and have had several other high end headphones in the past. Three of the pairs have been stolen. Needless to say I was expecting quality when I ordered these because of the price and the brand name. Logitech has always done me right in the past. The F540's are super easy to set up, and a very well made. When you hold them you know you are holding quality. The sound quality is the best I have ever heard from a wireless headset. Absolutely INCREDIBLE!! The bass is very stong with no distortion. The bass response is better than my Beats. I know hard to believe but you will see. The highs are sharp and crisp. The mic is crystal clear. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about these. I normally don't even take time to right reviews but I am so impressed with these that I feel I owe it logitech. My girlfriend hates when I play call of duty at night but with these on she hasn't complained once. In my oppionion I would gladly pay $150 to not hear her complain all the time. Do yourself a favor and buy these if you have the money. It is like a new game compaired to speakers. Amazing how much of the sound you don't hear until you use headphones. Call of Duty Black Ops is amazing. You hear dripping water and snow melting and brass tingling on the pavement like you are really there. Worth every penny!!!

I used these headphones fine for 2 months. After that time, they began to auto shut off every 10 minutes, even when plugged in. I spoke with Logitech and they said this is a frequent problem with their G930 headphones, so they sent me a "patch" to download on my computer. The problem is, the only patch they have is for the G930, not the F540. So when I installed it, it didn't help.

I tried to file an A to Z Amazon claim for a refund today, but Amazon said my opportunity to do so expired on May 8th. Well today IS May 8th! So that's a bummer.

If you Google the G930 headphones, you will see this auto shutoff problem has been occurring for many people for the past 6-8 months. I guess not enough people have complained about the F540 for them to create a real fix for it yet.

I would avoid these headphones, especially if you are considering them for use with your computer. I use them to record live webinars, so auto-shutting off at a bad time is a HUGE problem for me.
