When the laptop was stolen (it was in a backpack in an unlocked car) we contacted Lojack. (Keeping the box is helpful to remind yourself that you have Lojack on the laptop, but all the info is on the website.) They told us to file a police report and to give them the report number. We did. We could contact Lojack for status reports. They put us in touch with the LAPD detective, who called us when he got a search warrant and then called to say he had the laptop. It took four weeks. We only got back the laptop, not the backpack with the peripherals and other stuff, but we were very happy to get the laptop back. I recommend Lojack for Laptops.

I purchased this software to protect a very expensive laptop (over $3000). Months later I'm still fighting with Absolute Software about this. It seems that unless you buy a "name" brand, it will not run. This laptop is based on a Clevo motherboard. You may not recognize it, but they are the largest laptop motherboard manufacturer for custom laptops. In any case, LoJack will not work with Clevo's laptop motherboards. Nowhere on the package or Absolute Software's website does it say that it only works with certain motherboards. It does say on the website that only certain motherboards have their persistence driver in the BIOS, but goes on to say that the software will work on computers that do not have the BIOS persistence. It other words, they do not acknowledge anywhere that their software will not work on all machines. BTW, their tech support is very slow. I've had to wait a week between every time I respond to them with a new email for a response. That's even when I'm responding to their questions.

Bottom line: Unless your machine is listed on their website, don't buy this software.

Excellent product. My daughter had this software on her laptop when it was stolen. The quick response from Lojack lead to the recovery of her laptop in a very timely manner. Recovery would not have been possible without Lojack being installed on her computer. Outstanding Service was provided by the company. This is why I purchased the program for my laptop - Better Safe Than Sorry!

Once loaded, it requires no maintenance. My laptop is used only for business and there are times I don't use it for several weeks. After 30 days, I always get an email saying that they have not received any signals lately, and they want me to sign it on so they can keep it active. So, I know that they are monitoring it and that gives me comfort they can locate it if ever lost or stolen.

The LoJack for notebooks is a great item to have. I purchased it for my granddaughter who went away to college in August. I feel secure that should her computer be lost or stolen she'll have no trouble retrieving it. In addition it made her eligible for a discount on her insurance on the item. Thanks loads!

I purchased the Lojack for my sons laptop prior to going away to college. Other than a minor glitch in installing the software which their support was great at resolving, all is well. Though not a full proof remedy for a stolen laptop, it was worth the price paid for 3 years.

they seem more interested in servicing newer products and leave you hanging for older products. I found this to be true with their older automotive products. As far as I am concerned, the company is more about their bottom line than helping the consumer. I'd take special attention to the other negative reviews here before purchase.

I had this installed for 3 years without issue. However, after having a password issue with my account, I have received less than stellar support. Wait, that is not fair. To have received support, some effort must have been made. They have made none.

I've tried web support to no effect. I've tried the phone to no resolution. 877 number for Absolute told me to redial and choose another option. What option? They didn't know. Then someone told me to contact Digital River and called them, they referred me back to the folks that told me to call them. 90 minutes on the phone and I'm now submitting a dispute via my credit card company.

I would agree with another users comment. All their funds are put into marketing alone.

Unable to transfer the Lojack to my name even though I have all the paperworks. Their 'Lojack Second Owner' program is useless. I called and they told me that the program is no longer active and they do not know when is coming back. BEWARE!!! DO NOT buy anything with Lojack already installed. Is going to be a nightmare.

My old lojack subscription had expired and upon installing the new cd It kept asking me to reinstall. So I reinstalled it and it kept asking me to do the same thing over again. So I called lojack and they fixed it for me in about 2 days. During those two days my computer could have been stolen....(not good), but It's better than not having the software at all I guess.
