Fast and Full of Energy,

This review is from: Run Lola Run: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
I am not going to lie and say this CD is for everyone. Some people simply cannot appreciate the repetitive nature of techno music. If you are a techno fan and you enjoyed the movie then this soundtrack is certainly worth buying. Many of the tracks are very powerful and make you want to get up and move. Franka Potente has a beautiful voice and her tone matches perfectly with the fast paced drums and bass. I really enjoy the way this soundtrack features all the music from the movie along with extra remixes. I felt like I got my moneys worth from this CD and highly recomend it.

Awesome!,

I recently saw the film Run Lola Run and thought it rocked -- and I came online and bought the CD the same day. But I didn't get my hopes up too much, because I've been dissapointed way too many times by movie soundtracks. Well, the CD came in the mail today and it is just too cool for words. The tracks are so rich with sound -- don't expect any thin generic techno beats here. I can't get myself to stop playing it! If you haven't seen the movie yet, go see it -- and then order this CD. The music pulses and drives you -- I've been trying to make a good running tape for a while now and if this music doesn't help me improve my time then I don't know what will.

I wish I was a hunter, in search of different food...,

I love it! It's playing in my computer's CD player as I write these words. Others have called it repetive. Well, it *is* techno, isn't it? Repetition of a theme, with new sounds and twists and beats injected, is what techno is all about, for me anyway. This one carries it off perfectly. It's gone around a few times already, and will go around a few more before I give it a break. One thing that the tracks on this CD carry off perfectly is the integration of vocals with the techno sound. While many techno artists seem to think that voices have to be distorted beyond recognition to fit in to techno, in this case the lyrics come through clearly. This is especially true with Franka Potente's contributions on the first track "Believe" which is worth buying the CD for just on its own. By the way, if you haven't seen the movie, I recommend it - it's now out on video.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Run Lola Run: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
But I believe in fantasy if you just understood..."Wow. I first heard the music from this soundtrack when I downloaded a legendary Anime Music Video made for it's first track, Believe. The video was fantastic, but the song was what fueled it. Believe is an incredibly inspirational song about not giving up and believing in yourself, and I can't count how many times I've listened to it (the part at the end is just transcendant (you know, like when you're running so hard and so long that you don't even feel the pain anymore)). Later on I downloaded Music Videos to two of the other songs (Running Two and Running Two Remix). I enjoyed the videos and the music so much I decided that I had to own the soundtrack. From what I understand, only the first 7 tracks are actually from the movie. That's probably the only reason I could give this awesome soundtrack less than five stars. The first seven tracks are all great. Believe is awesome, the introduction is the music I used to listen to while getting ready for work every morning (the ultimate wake-up music), Running One gets the blood pumping, Running Two puts you into overdrive (and whenever I'm REALLY tired I hear the words echoing in my head "Never never never never letting go, never giving up, never saying no. Just go go never stop and never think, just do do do do the right thing"!), Running Three is the big finale, and Casino is a great drum piece sure to keep you moving. The other tracks are kind of hit and miss. Many of the remixes lack the polish of the music from the movie (and one even features a spine-rippling scream and breaking glass at it's start). I did enjoy the Supermarket Remix, the Running Two Remix, and the last track, Rock Me. Overall I consider this to be an essential purchase if you like German Techno, Techno in General, or this movie's music. It's worth buying for the first 7 tracks for sure. The rest is just extras.

THE BEST ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK EVER!,

This music is what makes you remember "Lola." I loved the movie "Run Lola Run" the first time I saw it, but it didn't occur to me to buy the soundtrack because, like many people, i just don't buy soundtracks. I finally bought it a year ago after hearing people rave about it and it was THE BEST CD PURCHASE I EVER MADE!! I know it's a cliche for music reviews, but it's true! I have listened to it constantly, and it's especially good for motivating you while jogging or running, understandably. I've bought three copies, two of which I've given away because it's awesome to share music as good as this. Tom Tykwer, who dreamed up the movie as well as the soundtrack, is a creative genius! The movie compliments the soundtrack (and vice versa) perfectly! Franka Potente, the star of the movie, lends her vocals to all but one track and there is a song, "Believe," sung by Potente, that is not in the actual movie but can also be found on the DVD, featured as a video. Parts of this soundtrack have been sampled for non-related trailers for some movies and TV shows (see the tracks, "Running Two" and "Casino"). This collection is absolutely essential for any fan of "Lola" or techno/electronica music.

1, 2, 3, all together now!,
This review is from: Run Lola Run: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
I wish I was a hunter in search of different food..../I wish I was the animal which fits into that mood..../I wish I was a person with unlimited breath..../I wish I was a heartbeat that never comes to rest!I wish I was a stranger who wanders down the sky..../I wish I was a starship with silence flying by..../I wish I was a princess with armies at her hand..../I wish I was a ruler who'd make them understand! I wish I was a rider who sees what's yet unseen..../I wish I was a prayer expressing what I mean..../I wish I was a forest of trees that do not hide..../I wish I was a clearing, no secrets left inside! Those are the (English) lyrics to the song "Wish". After I saw the FANTASTIC movie "Run Lola Run", I knew I had to get its soundtrack. I was pretty much dancing to the background music in my seat while I was watching the film! It is really impossible to sit still while listening to this soundtrack. I especially love the introduction, "Wish", "Believe", and "Supermarket". If you like loud, fast, pulsating techno music, you MUST get this CD. And if you have seen "Run Lola Run" and you don't have the soundtrack yet, you're probably just waiting for Amazon.com to deliver it! One minor warning: The second half of the soundtrack is mostly made up of remixes of the songs of the first half. So if for some reason you don't like the first half of the soundtrack, you won't like the second.

My Favorite Album!,

This review is from: Run Lola Run: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
People are making much of the repetitiveness, but if you think back to the movie, it was the same chunk of time being played out three times with variations on the timing and outcomes, just like the themes to three segments of the movie that are on the album. Basically the same, but different. Anyway, I ordered the CD the day after I saw the movie and played it and played it and played it. It was the only thing I listened to for weeks and weeks and I did not get tired of hearing it. I couldn't get enough! It makes you want to get up and move, fast!

Get pumped up,

Loved the movie Lola Rennt (aka "Run, Lola, Run"), and the music is an essential character in the movie. The music doesn't merely sit in the background and emphasize the mood of a scene, it propels the story, and creates the heart-pounding race that is the movie. I have to confess that I rarely notice soundtracks in movies the first time I see them, unless they are the "stars"--as in "O Brother, Where Art Thou"--or unless they are comprised of songs I already know. This soundtrack made me immediately want to go out and buy the CD--and I'm not usually into techno, either. It's simply terrific music. I agree that the music on this CD that comes directly from the movie is better than the remixes, with one exception: "Believe" is fabulous, and has the feel of a track that was originally in the movie but cut during editing. And Franka Potenta was terrific, as well--many Americans didn't know who she was until the Bourne Identity came out--but she really shines in this film.
I also agree with others who said that this is excellent music to exercise to--I keep going much longer than I plan to everytime I cue this album up. And I haven't gotten tired of it yet! (Be careful about listening to this while driving down the highway, though--I find myself having to consciously keep from accelerating!)

Few soundtracks truly compliment the film as this does...,
By "melodic" (New York, NY) - See all my reviews

If you have seen the film, then you know about this soundtrack--which is really made for and by the film. The beats and loops are fast and adrenaline-fueled. It is fun, fairly intelligent, and entertaining--much like the film. My only criticism is that, the album is essentially different mixes (albeit good ones) of the same four tracks.

One of the best soundtracks I own,

And I own a lot. It makes you want to get and move. Both the music and the lyrics are great. I now want to find some more German rock (so if you know of any bands please e-mail me). As far as using the same songs, that is true but they are all done differently. Once you have seen the movie it only makes sense, that sinse this is a soundtrack, to do it like that. This is a great cd and would improve any music collection!
