Crazy and Fun,

I love the Supersampler. I definitely prefer its panoramic format and much sharper image rendition to the original four-lensed Actionsampler. It's really fun to play and experiment with. Be sure to try the extreme close-up effect!
The rip-cord advance is a cool feature, but does require some care. If you use it normally, it should last without a problem. My Supersampler is going on 10 rolls without a hitch. However, if you yank the thing, it will definitely come out. Be sure not to hand this camera to any young children that don't know any better. Oh, and use 400 ASA film. The shots are bright and colorful, with almost no blurring. It's really best for sunny days.

get more action!,

This little camera is a very simple and straightforward device of instant fun - it's fun to use, people are always asking you questions about it, it doesn't weigh much so you can take it anywhere and best of all: your pictures are always surprising!Don't expect it to take ordinary pictures, don't demand every photograph to be perfect. To get the best idea of what this camera is all about, visit the manufacturer's website because they have minisites for each of their products). I got one of these supersamplers a few months back. Yes, you do need lots of light. Yes, you should take care not to pull the cord too hard (if it feels like it's jammed, you're probably just out of film). You should also make sure to catch (people in) action or create actions yourself. Step closer to your subject while shooting the picture, have someone twist around for you, turn your wrist so the camera itself turns around while shooting, ... experiment!! And that's the fun! Your interaction with others, their reactinos when they see the pictures, and just the tiny movement of pressing that button...

Had 800 speed film that came with it. Very cool but it's lomography so every shoot doesn't come out perfect. It's a novelty and it's not - it makes art. It is good for action shoots and equal for still's. One check out the website before buying. www.lomography.com and my website for pics I took with my supersampler. www.geocities.com/anthonylitzBTW - I have only shot a few rools with mine but when I shoot some 100 speed I relized that the manufactured recommened HIGH LIGHT is a MUST. I did all my shots outside, but in shadows or not under the direct sun shoots were very dark! Right now I have 400 black and white in my super sampler....check my website one day they will be on there!

A unique, fun camera,

No one should order this camera hoping that they will receive a professional quality item. It is simply made to be fun, and that is what it is. It is made of plastic, and it is fragile...so I will warn you. Nonetheless, it is, as I have said, tons of fun. Naturally, since it has no flash, you have to take the pictures with plenty of light. Also, every picture you get developed isn't going to be of professional quality, but that is part of the fun--you just dont know what you are going to get.

Nice Idea....,

I bought one of these last year, after reading so much about lomo and having previously bought an "action sampler" (Lomo's other 4 lens camera) I payed my money and eargely waited every day for it in the post and to be honest this was a great dissapointment. I got through one film, which turned out OK before the Winding on cord broke. This makes this camera pretty much unusable to me. Another annoying aspect is the whole light thing going on with this. You can only use this in BRIGHT light. Other wise the pictures are about as crappy as disposable camera. Living in the UK this also makes this camera pretty useless for 9 months of the year. Disspite this its a very cool idea and is a lot of fun! But in the end thats all it is really, and overly priced. Maybe if I had got it cheaper and it hadnt have broke so quickly and easily i would have rated this more. However I rang up the Lomographic society about it and they offered to ship me out a replacment so perhaps that one will fair better. Just remember these things before you spend your cash on this. A:Make Sure you live in a SUNNY country B:Make sure to take care when pulling the cord and loading the film C:Try and get it as cheap as you can If you ignore these, dont be suprised if your dissapointed.

when it works it works great... but the ripcord is an inconvenient novelty,

the ripcord on mine broke after about 3 rolls of film. i was able to modify the camera to incorporate a film advance wheel. after modifying it, it worked great, and continues to work great almost 10 years later.
i find the lenses on this camera to be superior to the ActionSampler. i'd recommend the SuperSampler over the ActionSampler even with the ripcord issues.

If you want to see what kind of photos this takes just check out flikr, there are whole groups dedicated to the supersampler. When you get your first roll of film back - you'll know why too. I adore this little camera - just be sure to tell the person at your local developer that the photos are supposed to look that way! :) (Oh- the camera company who makes these is also very nice. My first one arrived and the pull cord didn't work, they exchanged it for me for just the cost of the shipping with no trouble at all.)

I really enjoyed this camera, but after a few rolls the pull-string stopped retracting, and I had to retire it. Not terribly suprising, for a toy camera, but disappointing nonetheless.

This camera is a lot of fun. The one thing is you do need the 800 ASA, otherwise pictures are too dark. This camera is all about being suprised at what you get, just point it arround, move it and shake it. By the way, mine was soak in water, and I lost the current film, but then it dried and it's working perfectly. So it's ok to take it sailing : ) |
