Don't Buy Full-Price and It's Perfect,
By Cerebelle (Chicago, IL, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lomography Diana F+ Instant Back(Black) (Electronics)
I love this back! It takes great Diana pictures with the benefit of Instax film. Some other reviewers seems to have a lot of trouble getting good pictures but I haven't had this issue--just don't shoot inside if you don't have a flash, and be aware of your aperture setting, that's all. I do have to say that it's not worth buying full-price; at $95 and $7 per CR2 battery on top of Instax film and how much a Diana camera can get is just too much. I found mine for $50, which was just fine for me. If you can find it for a great price and love the idea of combining instant film with your Diana, go for it!

Just plain shoddy,

I had the same problem as several other reviewers. The first two shots came out fine but the third wouldn't eject. I tried removing the print manually in a dark room but it didn't develop. I put the cartridge back in the camera and tried again, but the prints still wouldn't eject, so the pack is ruined. I'm just going to return this, very disappointed.

Diana F+ ruining the film,

This review is from: Lomography Diana F+ Instant Back(Black) (Electronics)
First two packs of film, they were fine. They all came out as it should be. I really liked it a lot. Once I put the third pack, the chemicals were all spit up on the film. It developed only some part. I got greenish redish and white spots all over which means that chemicals have not been developed some parts. My picture was ruined and thought it was the film's fault. I tried fourth pack and realized I have a problem with instant back! I think when the film comes after pressing eject button, it scratches the film where it develops and ruins the picture. I am so disappointed and pissed off because buying films are expensive and instant back was really expensive. I bought it up from Adorama Camera and it's 31 days since I bought it so I doubt it I will get a return or refund. So pissed and mad.

Kept jamming up,

This worked great for the first 2 or 3 shots (film comes in packs of 10), then jammed up. Had to then change to a new pack of film (which exposes and ruins the other 7-8). Happened with all 4 packs I tried - at roughly $10 per pack of film, the cost and frustration just wasn't worth it, so I returned it.

Lomo Errors Disappointing,

About a week ago I finally purchased my Instant back for my Diana F+. I was about as excited as anyone can get about a camera, let me tell you. I finally received my lovely Instant back. I loaded the film all correctly, inserted NEW batteries and was ready to shoot. The first shot went well, trial and error right? When I got to my third shot the film would NOT come out. I read up on how to fix it without wasting the whole film pack. I turned off the lights in order to get the film out and hopefully save some, but nothing. No luck. I was also ordered 3 double packs of film from Amazon, only to waste them all because of faulty engineering. Every time I tried to eject the picture, it would stick. The problem is the little arm bar in the back that pushes the camera out. I Went online and Amazon sent a replacement along with the film I had lost as well. I got it today. I was paying close attention to the packaging and it almost seemed like it had been previously opened. The tabs to close the box were ripped and the papers were wrinkled and the box was flimsily put together. I put everything together ONCE AGAIN, and guess what, 4 shots in it gets caught again. I'm upset and totally displeased with LOMOGRAPHY. I've read multiple reviews where people have had the same problem. I will request a replacement one more time only because I see that it has worked wonderfully for people. Fingers crossed!

i just read Sonja's review and all can say is that she has missed the point of Lomography.
it is not about crisp sharp images but about style, imagination, and serendipity.

I was a little reluctant about purchasing the film back because of some of the negative reviews. Specifically the film jambing after the 3rd exposure. But I used it on Christmas to take pics of relatives and used 3 packs of film and it has worked flawlessly. Not to mention it's alot of fun. It was surprisingly easy to install on the camera and to load the film. It's really helpful for someone learning how to use one of these cameras too. My sister bought a Diana last year but quickly was intimidated by the 120 format film and the limited stores selling the film and processing it too. So I thought the Instant back would be a great way for her to take the training wheels off and finally use the camera. In theory, I thought it would be a great way for her to instantly see how the pictures will come out. So far, it has worked and she is using the camera again. In short, I had high expectations for the instant back and it's delivering. Use the flash indoors, set the camera to "N" and "Cloudy", select your distance on the lens, and snap away. It's a blast.

I love my instant back. It's not perfect but that's exactly what I wanted. If you want perfect instant photos, buy an instax mini. The instant back definitely takes some practice to get it right but when you do it's so worth it.
I would recommend this product to anyone who is interested in experimenting.

This combination of camera and back makes it difficult to get good exposures. I've wasted a great deal of prints and still am not happy with the results. I will, of course, try again but this shouldn't be so hard.

This is super easy to use and put on your Diana camera. I went through about half a roll of the instant film trying to get the lighting just right which was lame since it's so expensive but it's so much fun to take the pictures and at a party it's a blast. I lost one photo forgetting to put on the lens piece so don't forget to actually follow the directions. In the end, it works really great and people love to have their picture taken with it.
