More About the Author

Heather Waddell was born in Scotland but has lived in London since the 1970s. She has written books, for newspapers (The Glasgow Herald London art critic 1980-4/London correspondent Vie des Arts 1979-89/Arts editor The European 1990/freelance The Independent/Independent on Sunday/The Times1996/2010/The Evening Standard) and international art magazines, as well as being interviewed on radio and TV ( BBC World Services/ITV news/US radio stations/Australian TV). She has written 10 editions of London Art and Artists Guide, The London Art World 1979-99, The Artist's Directory ( with Richard Layzell), Henri Goetz :50 years of painting and recently completed Art Snakes and London Ladders. She has contributed to The London Encyclopaedia ( 3 editions), Time Out's London and New York Guides( Art galleries), Blue Guide Spain, Australian Arts Guide, Glasgow Arts Guide, Londres (Editions Autrement Paris), L'Ecosse; lumiere granit et vent (Editions Autrement Paris).Between 1980 and 1990 she founded and ran the international Art Guide series to London/Paris/New York/Amsterdam/Berlin/Madrid/Glasgow/Australia, sold to A&C Black in 1987. She is also an artist/photographer and five of her art world portraits are in the 20th century photography collection at the National Portrait Gallery London.She studied at St Andrews University (MA) and at art school in London (University of the Arts-Byam Shaw/Central St Martins).Her website is www.hwlondonartandartistsguide.com
