stunning images of London and Oxford with wonderful music, April 3, 2005
This review is from: London - A Musical Tour of London and Oxford (DVD)
As one who has been to London 21 times since 1994, most recently in March 2005, who also has taken hundreds of still photographs during my visits, this DVD is marvelous. Though I have been to nearly every location shown, most multiple times, the cinematography brillantly captures angles and juxtapositions that often show natural and architectural features in a new light. The images are crisp and the colors are vivid. In fact, I plan to revisit some attractions in November to photograph them after seeing this video. The music is excellent and I was glad to see that DTS is a choice as I prefer it to Dolby Digital. My favorite combination of images and music is a tour of Christ Church, Oxford, accompanied by Elgar's Enigma Variation IX, "Nimrod." I am sorry that a visit to Maritime Greenwich was not included; perhaps it is in another of this "Musical Journey" series. Availability is a problem in local stores. Even those such as Tower Records, Best Buy, Sam Goody, and Borders have a good selection of Naxos CDs, but I did not find one of the Naxos "Musical Journey" DVDs. I found this at Cutler's in New Haven.
