Book Description

A Manifesto for UK sport during the London Olympic year. In this report, Dan Travis looks at why the state of sporting competition is not as strong as it could be, what's to blame and what we can do about it. Holding onto the competitive ethic is not only possible but desirable. Dan Travis is a tennis coach, speaker and writer on sport and sporting competition as well as being the director of the Brighton Salon.

More About the Author

I began lecturing in sport this year after 20 years of being a tennis coach. Having obtained an MSC in Political Sociology from Birkbeck College I began my writing career. I appear frequently on the current affairs website Spiked Online and as a speaker at the Battle of Ideas. I have released a series of essays on the running boom in the UK that I have now turned into a book entitled "Running Away from the Race".

I am looking to spend half the year abroad with my new wife Vanessa. With an online marketing company I am kept very busy but very happy with the new life.

Really looking forward to a year of publishing more books - "Cultural Quantitative Easing - Meaning and Number in modern Culture"- is on it's way soon.
