Product Description
The Warrior's Destiny

Carolyn White was a child in danger when she was rescued by a young Crow Indian. Years later, she is returning to the place where she and the brave Lone Arrow were briefly united. She tells herself she must undo a curse she had innocently set in motion. Yet there is another reason for Carolyn's journey -- for she longs to find once again the noble stranger who inhabits her dreams and desires.

She should not be in his world! But try as he might, Lone Arrow cannot dismiss from his thoughts this bold beauty who left as a girl but has come back as woman of spirit and fire. Each moment they spend together merely intensifies the warrior's burning need. For she is his destiny, though the chasm dividing their cultures is wide. Still Lone Arrow will not rest until she is his...and they are making love beneath the moonlit skies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lone Arrow's Pride by Karen Kay, August 18, 2002
By Tami Brandt (Missouri, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I liked this book.

It starts when Carolyn is 11 years old and stranded in the deserted prairie land of Montana where her caravan was heading across the Bozeman Trail when a Cholera epidemic strikes and kills her loved ones. A whirlwind appears and leads her to trip over a young Indian (Lone Arrow). Together they seek shelter in the mountains for the night where she takes a small bit of the treasure in the mountains. After that night, Lone Arrow leads her to the Fort and disappears.

Fast Forward 8 and a half years later...
Carolyn has been adopted by a couple in Bozeman, Montana. Her family is suffering financially and the bank is threatening to foreclose on their property.

Carolyn realizes after all these years that Lone Arrow was right, the bit of treasure she took is cursed and has cursed her family. She has to return it to the mountains. She seeks out Lone Arrow to take her back to the mountain. Along the way Carolyn and Lone Arrow fall in love, but also bicker and argue and have a series of funny misadventures on their travel to the mountain. A great fast-paced read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Enchanting from the beginning!, July 2, 2002
By Huntress Reviews (United States) - See all my reviews
Began in 1866 at the Bighorn Mountains. At the young age of eleven, Carolyn White was the sole survivor of her caravan. She had watched her loved ones as they died from a cholera epidemic. Deep into depression, Carolyn wandered, hopelessly lost and began talking to animals and trees. But it was the little "whirlwind" that saved her. It seemed alive and wanted her to follow. It led her to a sixteen year old Crow named Lone Arrow. He helped Carolyn escape a bear by entering a sacred treasure cave. He warned her to take nothing. The treasure in the cave was cursed. Then he escorted her safely to a nearby fort. Neither forgot the other.

Eight and a half years later ...

Carolyn had been adopted by a kind couple in Virginia City, Montana Territory. But luck had been bad for them. They would soon lose their land if they did not pay the bank soon. Carolyn realized that unless she returned the gold arrow head she had taken from the sacred cave, all would be lost. Thus she traveled back to the Bighorn Mountains and into Lone Arrow's life again.

Lone Arrow, like his father before him, was the speaker and protector of the mountains. He was the chosen one to guard the sacred treasure cave. His guide was the spirit of the mountain who took the form of a small whirlwind. Lone Arrow wanted Carolyn as his wife, but did not trust her. She insisted he take her back to the cave and would not say why. He thought she wanted to steal the gold from the mountain spirit. A battle between his love and honor began.

***** This story was enchanting from the beginning! I hated to see the book end! The story focused on the main couple and there was little distraction from other sources. This is as a story should be! There was a sub-plot and a pair of co-characters to keep everything moving along smoothly. Here is a book that will capture your attention quickly and never let go! Highly recommended!...

5.0 out of 5 stars exciting Indian historical romance, July 6, 2002
In 1866 in the Montana Territory, eleven years old Carolyn White watches her family and the other wagon train travelers die from cholera. Frightened, Carolyn feels hopeless until the "whirlwind" gently guides her to sixteen-year-old Crow, Lone Arrow. He saves her life from a bear by forcing her to enter a cavern filled with forbidden treasure. He warns her to take none of the artifacts as a curse will follow her if she does. Finally he escorts her to the safety of a nearby fort.

Almost a decade later, Carolyn's adopted parents face foreclosure of their land after a string of bad luck. Carolyn believes her pilfering a gold arrowhead from the sacred cave has caused the misfortune. She returns to the Bighorn Mountains to find Lone Arrow' in order to return the stolen item. Lone Arrow is protector of the mountains especially the sacred treasure cave. He wants to marry Carolyn, but seemingly distrusts her more than he loves her.

Fans of Indian historical romances will want to read LONE ARROW'S PRIDE as the story line focuses on the relationship between Carolyn and Lone Arrow. The tale never loses sight of the prime theme as if the plot was the minimum but critical prime path of a pert chart. The lead couple is a delight and the support cast provides either depth to understanding the key duet or propels their tale forward. Karen Kay furbishes a strong tale that deserves plenty of kudos.
