Editorial Reviews

Review

"A tome showing quilts from the past 25 years, all made or completed in Texas... The 200 quilts display many techniques and styles. The authors comment on the increasing popularity of machine quilting and embellishment in the later years. The larger quilts each have a full-page photo, with details on the opposite page of the technique and the materials used. It is a stunning collection of outstanding work." - Patchwork & Quilting, April 2012

great book. The photographs were beautiful. I have one of the quilts featured in the book and know a lot of the other quilters.

Attended the authors' lecture at the Texas Book Festival here at the capital. OF course I bought the book and got it signed. I have the previous two volumes and refer to them often as I plan my quilts. The legacy of quiltmaking in Texas from the early days of the state to today are cataloged in the three volumes. This latest (and last according to the authors) gives any quilter or follower of the craft a great look at the many styles of contemporary quilting. From Hazel Canny and Kathleen McCrady representing traditional quilting, to Kathy York, Libby Lehman and Cynthia England representing today's "Art Quilters"... there is something for every taste. A book that at least every TEXAS quilter must have in their library! Lone Stars III: A Legacy of Texas Quilts, 1986-2011 (Charles N Prothro Texana Serie)

A very well made book with great pictures! I bought this for a friend for all her help with a quilt I was making. She is not from Texas so enjoyed the Texas aspect of the book. The descriptions of each quilt was very nice too.

WOW! Bresenhan does it again, this time with Nancy Puentes. Loved the selections from traditional to contemporary. So happy to have to add to my collection of books about art quilts.

This book is an incredible compilation of gorgeous quilts made by extremely talented quilters. This has got to be the best I have seen yet for inspiration. There is something for every type of quilter. The photos are very detailed. Not only was the book a joy to have but I was astonished at how quickly it arrived. I hope there will a book 4 someday soon!
