Editorial Reviews

Review
"Catchy enough to knock Liz Phair upside the head." --Pitchfork

Product Description
Doiron began her music career in 1990 playing bass in Eric's Trip, the undisputed underground darlings of Canadian music. After their breakup, she began her solo career. "Loneliest In The Morning", originally released in 1997 by Sub Pop, was her second solo release and first as Julie Doiron (having dropped the moniker Broken Girl). This re-issue comes complete with three bonus tracks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Painfully intimate; lovely sounds with remarkable subtlety., September 24, 1999

(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
Julie Doiron's background was in the noise-pop band Eric's Trip, but you wouldn't be able to tell from this album.

Loneliest in the Morning is confessional where it matters the most -- delivery. Gentle, achingly lovely songs sung in that vulnerable voice, with a quiet musical backdrop that hums and serenades, never lapsing into melodrama or theatrics. And that is precisely what Julie's songs are suitable for.

I played this album through and through about five times, never skipping tracks, the first day I got it. If you've ever experienced the "loneliness" that she describes, or the burn of a love lost, this album will be like a balm upon your wounds. With nothing but absolute honesty and sincere intimacy as its guide, Loneliest in the Morning finds a direct route to the listener's heart...and Julie Doiron's.

Her first full length without the broken girl moniker , this was recorded in memphis, and is totally great. songs about her kids, husband, and her the break-up of her band eric's trip , make this a delight to listen to.
