5.0 out of 5 stars Painfully intimate; lovely sounds with remarkable subtlety., September 24, 1999

(VINE VOICE)
Julie Doiron's background was in the noise-pop band Eric's Trip, but you wouldn't be able to tell from this album.

Loneliest in the Morning is confessional where it matters the most -- delivery. Gentle, achingly lovely songs sung in that vulnerable voice, with a quiet musical backdrop that hums and serenades, never lapsing into melodrama or theatrics. And that is precisely what Julie's songs are suitable for.

I played this album through and through about five times, never skipping tracks, the first day I got it. If you've ever experienced the "loneliness" that she describes, or the burn of a love lost, this album will be like a balm upon your wounds. With nothing but absolute honesty and sincere intimacy as its guide, Loneliest in the Morning finds a direct route to the listener's heart...and Julie Doiron's.

Just got back from her show....and, WOW! I don't know many artist that can get with just a guitar on stage... INCREDIBLE!! You won't be sorry if you buy her stuff. She has the power to hypnotize, and to calm a crowd. Enjoy!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fourteen soft, acoustic based songs., February 26, 1999
By A Customer
Another ex-Erics Tripper, Julie Doiron (a.k.a. Broken Girl) is back with her sophmore release, Lonliest in the Morning. Fouteen soft, acoustic based songs about life, love and motherhood. Reminiscent of the softer side of Erics Trip, background music for reading or a nice drive on a fall night. Julie shines most on "So fast" and "Condescending you." ET fans will not be disapointed, nor will new fans.
