The best EP i've ever heard!!,
By Eric Hinkle (Racine, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Loneliness Is Bliss (Audio CD)
when i first found out that mxpx had a side project i just had to get their EP. and i'm glad i did! it sounds kinda like the mellow songs on the evr passing moment, but a lot mellower. arthur was made because mike had a lot of songs that were totally different than most mxpx songs.enough about that though. the whole ep is just amazing! every song is a winner! this deserves a billion stars. my favorites are "all my life" and the birthday song. but they are all very good! i can't wait for their full-length( which is in the works)...mellow on!

MxPx Mellows Out,
This review is from: Loneliness Is Bliss (Audio CD)
Mike Herrera is a genius musically. This band sounds nothing like MxPx, which shows that Mike is a very talented songwriter who wants to get out of the punk scene and write some more emotional and mellow tunes. I really enjoy the songs that make you want to sing along, such as "Thought A Lot" and "Self Evaluation". I recommend this album to anyone who enjoys MxPx or even likes bands such as Pedro The Lion or The Promise Ring. Enjoy...it's a good album!

This EP leaves me hungry for more,

Arthur is a side-band consisting of all three members of MxPx along with Neil the guitarist who tours with them. They have a collection of songs that Mike Herrera did not think belonged in MxPx. This is a very solid EP. It is very very mellow and emotional, so if that is not your thing then you wont like this at all. If you're a big fan of The Ever Passing Moment cd by MxPx, then you will probably love this album. Thought Alot is an amazing song and is what got me into this band. Self Evaluation and Friday, April 6th are also stand-out tracks. I am not sure if they will ever release another cd. I really really hope they do. They have already written enough Arthur songs to make another full-length cd, they're just trying to find time to record it. You can listen to a song titled "Cold Outside" on their website. I think it is their best song, to be honest.

A new side of MxPx,
By Amanda L. Morrison (Washington, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Loneliness Is Bliss (Audio CD)
Arthur definately does not follow the same lines as MxPx, but Mike Herrera was able to both write and sing new songs that influence others. I bought this cd since it was an MxPx side project, and I had no idea what I was missing. While MxPx leans toward the punk rock style, Arthur is more of just mellow slow songs that anyone can get into. The messages are great and I think anyone can relate. It's a great cd!

I saw Arthur in the Rock Mecca of the NW (you know, Auburn) - And they were great! The CD has some hot sounds. A little sappy in spots and juicy in others.

The Emo side of MxPx,
By Tom Servo "Robot" (Satelite of Love) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Loneliness Is Bliss (Audio CD)
This is more of an emo CD than a punk CD, but it is a masterpiece. After their first great side poject (The Cootees) I knew I had to hear this, and guess what, I loved it. The only problem is that it is WAY too short. They need to release a full length album soon, because I see much talent in this group. The group called Arthur. If you have the means, or just wanna listen to good music then buy this NOW!!!

Best Break Up Album Ever,
By
This review is from: Loneliness Is Bliss (Audio CD)
If you've just gone through a breakup or know someone who has get them this album. Each song builds on the one previous in a way that makes this a concert on the emotions of one who has lost the person they love.It starts with the I want you back song, to I've made some changes come back, to I'm so lonly without you, to a song with anger and rage, to I'm ok because I have God, to finally a rememberence of the lost love without the self deprication of not being able to live without them. I just went through a breakup and the way this album plays through those emotions which we all feel if genius. I don't know if Mike did this on purpose but it works just the same.

Let's just hope that their new album "The ever passing moment" isn't this bad. Mike please stick to playing the bass. There are a couple of okay songs don't get me wrong but for the most part you could tell it was an experiment.
