Oh yeah, baby., July 11, 2002
This album rocksers yer boxers. I own this album, as well as Flying. But, if you think these guys are good, listen to their lead guitarist Pete Stewart's solo effort after the band's regrettable split. It was produced in about 1999, I believe. A noble effort, a noble man, & quite admirable.

What a shame..., July 13, 2001
Why do the best bands always have to break up? I found out about grammatrain about a year ago while looking for good christian music on amazon. What I found blew me away. I never knew christian music had its own Soundgarden, one of my favorite secular bands. Grammatrain has awsome, UNDERSTANDABLE lyrics and some of the most solid rock/grunge music I have ever heard. I own both Lonely House and Flying, and while I love them both, Lonely house would have to be my favorite. The thing that makes grammatrain so unique among Christian artists is their style of music. Christian music used to be totally pop music. Then a few bands decided to break off from that image. Some went to a kind of "power-pop/light rock" style (Third Day, DC Talk, Newsboys, etc.), while the rest went to the complete other side of the road to all-out hardcore rock. I thought that there was no middle until I found Grammatrain that day. They figured out that seemingly unknown fact that you can have a solid rock sound without yelling the lyrics AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS. Then, as soon as they came, they were gone. But... we still have these albums to remember them by. I would strongly recommend both albums, especially Lonely House. It is one of the best rock albums I have ever heard, Christian or Secular. Strongly recommended.

Who cares if this is Christian music? IT ROCKS!!!, September 27, 2005
Let me start by saying that I listen to rock and roll from all walks of life and I must say this is probably in the top five 90's grunge/Alt bands out there! I haven't heard their second album yet but it is on my list of CD's to get and when I do I will write another review! I know that most people turn away from an album if it is christian but these guy were more talented than most of the main stream bands that came out in the mid 90's. Their songs are solid, their vocals are clear and easy to understand, and the two slower songs on the album are simply beautiful! I loved this band then, and I still love this band now!! They should have tried to cross over into the main stream, I think they would have gone far but they stuck to what they believed and I can respect that! All I can say is that if you like Nirvana, STP, Pearl Jam, AIC, try this band out you won't be disappointed. Although they are technically a Christian band, their lyrics aren't like the steriotype you might think. If you didn't know they were a christian band from the get go you probably wouldn't catch on to the subtle referenced to christianity in this album. Give it a shot, like I said, this is only one of maybe 3 christian CD's I have in my collection out of over 100 CD's. Lets just say that the others weren't worth reviewing but this band is a must!!!!!
