I was a loyal LP guide user for almost 15 years but never again. They changed the format (very annoying and with many missing parts and the quality and ease of it all is worse) but also the guide is now aimed at a richer audience. the majority of the accommodations are much more expensive than hostels, as well as the restaurants and a lot of information about flights, etc. -things most backpackers don't do. Their "top pick" for a restaurant was one where the meal cost 75$, hotels that cost 250$ or more a night- its ridiculous!!! I do not recommend this book to anyone backpacking, Lonely Planet has sold out!!!

Material provided is very good and fairly current for print media. What is missing are good country-wide maps showing major towns, border crossings and sites to visit. The small site specific maps are fine but lack the overall context for planning travel.

The book is well organized so a quick reminder is easy. It contains good information on travel planning, including a "need to know" section which is very useful. It covers regions thoroughly, including what to see, what to eat, where to stay, etc.

Good information, however I find these guides easier to use in paper format rather than e-book version to look up sections and easily flick between pages throughout the book.
