5.0 out of 5 stars Great reading
Although i have been to Angkor before i found the book to be much more informative and detailed than i had expected.
It provided us with much more information that i had any knowledge of and i think this is one of those books that anyone who is even thinking of going to Cambodia really should read as it is so much more informative than others i had read.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice photos, little useful information
This is a fluffy little guide to Siem Reap. The design and photos are nice, and it is compact enough to bring with -- if it were worthwhile.
It's posed as an insider's guide to the high-end near the magnificent Angkor complexes, but it lacks some useful tips, like hiring a guide (and that your guide and tuk-tuk driver will be getting kickbacks from the shops and...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little guidebook, January 27, 2011

If you are off to visit the temples at Siem Reap/Angkor Wat we highly recommend this guide. It's reasonably thorough, small enough to fit into your pocket or purse and will give you all the information you need to make the most of your visit. Even if you expect to have a guide (as we did) the book enabled us to do our homework before hand (well actually on the plane heading there) to educate us enough on what we wanted to see. There's a lot more to the area besides Angkor Wat, and you will be well advised to learn as much about the area beforehand.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not what is Advertised (no pullout map), January 14, 2011

This review is not about the guide itself, but the version that Amazon ships. The photo of the book says it includes a pullout map - the the version they stock/ship does not have said map.

I returned the first one I ordered thinking it was a simple error. But since its replacement was also missing the map, it seems to be a permanent problem.

The guide itself is small and compact, nicely arranged with decent photos and layouts. I have another encounter guide for Ko Samui and I like it quite a bit.
