5.0 out of 5 stars nice guide
very helpful. Restaurant recomendations were all excelent. I like how the reviews of places have some spunk to them. Only complaint: no bus map (these are free everywhere anyway though)

3.0 out of 5 stars A little lackluster
I've always liked Lonely Planet travel guides...I feel like they provide a lot of "off the path" points of interest that other books simply pass by. However, the last few years I've been using the Eyewitness guides and I'm starting to prefer them to the Lonely Planet books. I feel like the Eyewitness books have a lot more to offer in the visual sense, with their color...

I've always liked Lonely Planet travel guides...I feel like they provide a lot of "off the path" points of interest that other books simply pass by. However, the last few years I've been using the Eyewitness guides and I'm starting to prefer them to the Lonely Planet books. I feel like the Eyewitness books have a lot more to offer in the visual sense, with their color pictures, maps, and walking tour suggestions. Lonely Planet has good info, but the format is just too textbook for my liking.

I was very impressed with the amount of useful information in this book! I sent it to my daughter who is a new resident of SFO and she concurred. There is an excellent map in the back. I recommend this book as a great resource for SFO.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great travel guide, August 26, 2011
This review is from: Lonely Planet San Francisco (City Travel Guide) (Paperback)

This travel guide helped us a lot during our one week trip to San Francisco. I could find all the information I need for the sights, restaurants and clubs including the addresses, approximate costs and short explanations. The insider tips were really helpful (we managed to find a couple of great places to hang out). It is amazing that they could present all the information in a small book like this.
