4.0 out of 5 stars Solid offering with all the necessary info
Got this guide for a week-long vacation in South Beach and have to disagree with other reviewers here. It's a solid Lonely Planet offering with all the usual info you'll need and it has a pullout map that I found quite practical.

Unless you are a completely immature seventeen-year-old, this guide is absolutely useless. Badly written and badly organized, imprecise and hard to navigate. What a disappointment from Lonely Planet!

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid offering with all the necessary info, November 13, 2011

Got this guide for a week-long vacation in South Beach and have to disagree with other reviewers here. It's a solid Lonely Planet offering with all the usual info you'll need and it has a pullout map that I found quite practical.

The book tries for an entertaining style which may or may be not to your liking but complaining about snarky comments on South Beach? Come on! The place satirizes itself, basically. I liked my week there but at no time was I under the impression that I was spending my time at the Louvre or the Prado. I found the guide quite apt in its descriptions.

So to sum up: Solid, can't really go wrong with this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless Guide Book Filled with Snark, October 31, 2011
This review is from: Lonely Planet Miami & the Keys (City Travel Guide) (Paperback)
I bought this book in the hopes of receiving restaurant and bar recommendations for a long weekend spent in South Beach. I had great success with Lonely Planet Montreal and Seattle so I had high hopes for this book. The guide included hardly any restaurants for Miami Beach or South Beach and the author could barely conceal his contempt for the South Beach club/bar Scene. Reviews of clubs and bars consisted entirely of snarky comments making it impossible to use as a guide. Wound up relying exclusively on yelp! which was less expensive. This was a waste of money.
