Chichiriviche de la Costa, Venezuela is very beautiful. Venezuela has wildlife to study and also you can learn Spanish. There are beautiful beaches and the smaller CArabbean islands are a boat ride away.
My wife is from Venezuela and we went to Venezuela in January 2012. Since I was going to Venezuela for the first time, I was looking for some information online about travel in Venezuela and ended up buying this book for my Kindle Fire. This is truly a great book for someone who is traveling to Venezuela for the first time or someone who has lived in Venezuela for their entire life. Venezuela has one of the most diverse climates in the world and this book explains how to navigate through every corner of the country. And the best part, Its in English!! This book is also a great resource for learning about the culture and history of Venezuela, which even my wife who was born and raised in there did not know. I'll have to admit, Me Encanta Venezuela! and this book was invaluable to my journey. I'm looking forward to checking out all of the spots in the book that I didn't see this time.
I learned about the famous steak "Punta Trasera" at Casa Valencia in my wife's hometown of Valencia. "Punta Trasera" was not available so I settled for "Solomo" which was good but I had my heart set on the "Punta Trasera". I think its equivalent to our "Prime Rib" but I will be making back to Casa Valencia really soon to find out for myself.
I have several lonely planet guides. This one is seriously inaccurate and lacking in its details of different places. For example, Hotel Europa described as midrange in Puerto La Cruz was such in price, but did not have hot water as described in the guide and though there were 4 of us in the room, they only gave us 3 towels and would not give us another set when we asked. The bathroom smelled too. This is one example of many. The guide is helpful to a point, but is WAY below what I've found in other lonely planet guides.
