After lot's of research my wife and I decided to pick this book up for our safari in Tanzania. The first chapters go over the highlights of the area, some possible itineraries and the general environment. Each country has a large map of the different parks, and then each park has a smaller map describing the animals that can be found, peak periods as well as some hints and tips on where what to watch. At the back of the book is an entire section with very detailed descriptions of each of the animals. Overall it is very well laid out, and one of the best references we used. We did bring the book with us, but ended up not opening it. Mostly because our guides explained everything, and we had too many exciting experiences to be bothered by books. Good thing we read it before leaving!!!

I'll be going to East Africa in August and believe this book will be constantly in use. It has already been a great help in researching where I'll be going, and I'd certainly recommend this book to anyone planning on going to East Africa.
