Lonely Planet's "World Food: Indonesia" is an excellent place to start learning about Indonesian cuisine. It's not a cookbook, it's an explanation of both what you'll find to eat and how the diet reflects upon the culture. I highly recommend this book for someone wanting to start learning about how to eat in Indonesia.
