5.0 out of 5 stars I loved it!!!
What a wonderful resource. I have looked everywhere for something that would give me lots of ideas of things I could do to stay in touch. This booklet was filled with page after page of ideas. I probably wouldn't do all the ideas but lots of them are just perfect for my situation. Here are just a couple that I loved!!

Buy a copy of the "Person of the Year"...

1.0 out of 5 stars How mind-numbingly TRITE!
This is absolute drivel. Do not waste your money or time on this book. This book is not subtle or complicated, much less *useful*. I wouldn't even call it a BOOK. It's a glorified list, a brochure on slick, glossy, heavy paper with lots of pretty pictures. I'd wonder if the list of suggestions could have been lifted from one of those "How to Be Romantic"...

What a wonderful resource. I have looked everywhere for something that would give me lots of ideas of things I could do to stay in touch. This booklet was filled with page after page of ideas. I probably wouldn't do all the ideas but lots of them are just perfect for my situation. Here are just a couple that I loved!!

Buy a copy of the "Person of the Year" issue of Time magazine and past a picture of her on the cover. Write an article about why she should be the person of the year and send it to her.

Buy a box of chocolates. Under each chocolate place a short note.

Every night for a week write down 10 things you appreciate about her. By the end of the week you will have written over 70 things. Send the list to her in a romantic card.

Before you leave give him a jar containing the same number of M&M's as days you will be away. Instruct him to eat just one a day in your absence.

Send a "Heart Attack". Cut out heart shaped pieces of paper and write on them the things you appreciate about her. Place all the hearts in an envelope and send them to her.

Have a favorite photograph of the two of you made into a jigsaw puzzle. Send her a few pieces with every letter.

Research his family tree. Send what you find to him.

Write a letter as if you were stranded on a deserted island. Place the message in a bottle and send it to her.

Make a list of 5 things you can do to be more unselfish in your relationship and then DO THEM!!!

Go on virtual dates together on the Internet. A few ideas include attending concerts, going to the zoo or museums.

Use a video camera to give him a "tour" of the place you are staying and the things you do during the day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Ideas To Strengthen Your LDR, March 3, 2006
This review is from: Long Distance Couples: An Activities Handbook for Strengthening Long Distance Relationships (Paperback)
I am a graduate student in Marriage and Family Relations. In one of my classes we just learned that for relationships to stay healthy the couple needs to have 5 positive interactions for every negative interaction. It's kind of like a bank account. You want to make more deposits than withdrawls. Being in a LDR is like one big long continous withdrawl from your relationship bank account.

This booklet contains lots of creative ideas of ways you can make deposits in your LDR account to keep it healthy.

I highly recommend it for anyone in an LDR who wants to keep their relationship healthy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helped me out, January 31, 2005

I was stuck in a rut with my long distance boyfriend. I bought this book hoping it would give us some new ideas on what we could do to keep the relationship fresh. I wasn't disapointed. Most of the ideas are a lot of fun and I no longer have the stuck in a rut feeling. It has definitly revitalized our relationship.

I travel frequently on business trips and have found when I use these activities I feel connected with my wife versus before I started using them it always felt like we were drifting apart a little during each trip. I never would have come up with all these ideas on my own. I found it very helpful and well worth the small cost.

4.0 out of 5 stars Creative activities, January 28, 2005

I actually found a lot of really fun creative ideas to use in my long distance relationship. Some of the ideas were kind of dorky. But you can't please everyone.

If you are looking for new ideas on how to stay in touch then I definitely recommend it but if you are looking for something more substantial about the ins and outs of long distance relationships then I probably would recommend that you get Long Distance Relationships: The Complete Guide by Gregory Guldner.

This is an amazing booklet! It's perfect for any couple that has trouble thinking of things to do when they're apart--it's not designed to be an advice-giving book. Personally, I always get stuck in a rut and can never think of fun things to do long distance, and these ideas really helped me. So this booklet is perfect for anyone who is in the same situation--I haven't found any other source for long distance activity suggestions like this booklet. And just a neat sidenote: I have heard that the military loves this book and buys it by the thousands because it really helps soldiers to stay close to their sweethearts. I'm just so glad there is something out there to help these people who are fighting for our country!

Finally, an LDR book that understands what we are looking for. In an LDR myself, I found this book to offer new and exciting ways to keep my relationship going, despite the challenging distance. This book even took a few shots at LongDistanceRelationships.com, which also provides peoples creative ways to spice it up. All together, A+!

I recently read a book by Dr. John Gottman that said for a relationship to survive you needed to have 5 positive interactions for every negative interaction.

I found this handbook to be full of fun ideas I can do from a distance to increase the number of positive interactions in my relationship to keep it healthy. I highly recommend it if you are looking for ideas to stay in touch.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Long Distance Couples: An Activities Handbook for Strengthening Long Distance Relationships (Paperback)
Granted this product wasn't too expensive, but it's definitely something you shouldn't pay for. I found it to be a bit out of date, and also just really a list of things to do, not a book type as I expected. More like a pamphlet full of things I could find on the internet for free. Nice thought, but save your money and just do some online searching.
