From the Author

In 1990 I began studying long distance relationships while working toward my PhD in clinical psychology. I was in one myself and was curious what the research showed. What began as a small investigation blossomed into a huge study of over 400 long distance relationships. Then during my training as a therapist at a large university, I noticed how many of the students with whom I worked were in long distance relationships. In discussing this with my colleagues I found many different opinions about long distance relationships and how we should try to support them. However, when I tried to find a concise guide that was based on evidence rather than opinion I couldn’t find one. Thus, I began collecting every available study on separated couples I could find. I have now amassed an extensive library of research, books, and other resources for long distance relationships. In Long Distance Relationships I’ve tried to distill the most critical findings from these studies and pass on this information to those hundreds of thousands of couples who live apart from one another. I hope you find it helpful and inspiring.

My girlfriend and I have been in a long distance relationship for 2 years now. She sent me this as a birthday present and I thought it was awesome. It's very practical and easy to read. It has a great resource section that has tons of other books and articles on long distance relationships. I recommend it highly!
