Anyone who is in a long distance relationship should definitely read this book. It offers great advice and insight on how to manage your relationship. There are other books about relationships out there but this one is simply the best when it comes to long distance relationships. Great for all types of relationships and for young or old readers.

This book has, by far, been the most useful and practical of all the long-distance relationship books I have read - and that's been quite a few. Highly insightful, it has been useful to me in uncovering day-to-day (and long-term) issues/problems that long-distance couples will uniquely face and offers practical advice in coping and understanding one another. I bought one for myself and my then-boyfriend (now husband) when we were separated for 2 years. We both read it and discussed it frequently, and found that the book helped ease many difficulties we faced by warning us about potential problems in advance, and helping us maintain a healthy close relationship while continuing to thrive in our own separate lives. If there is one book I would buy for friends struggling through an LDR, this is the one!

This book gave great ideas on how to handle issues in long distance relationships. It was geared more to couples who have lived together before the separation than those who are dating long distance, but still gave some good tips.

I highly recommend this book for those in a long distance relationship. It balances research and experience nicely and it provides a springboard for discussion with your boyfriend or girlfriend. It offers good advice in coping with the challenges of an LDR. In addition to learning a lot about your relationship, you will learn a lot about yourself with respect to a LDR. This is very important because the success of the relationship depends so much on the individuals involved. Since I am in a LDR as a result of online dating, I would have liked to see more examples of LDR's resulting from online dating where the couples have never lived close to one another. Most of the examples in the book involve couples who already lived close to one another and then lived far from one another. Despite this, the insight and advice was still relevant to my situation. Perhaps in a future edition, Dr. Guldner could expand his examples to include this ever-growing population.

This is a great book for those of us who feel lost in our Long Distant Relationship. It gives great insight on other couples and tons a research that has been done. It explains vicious cycles we go through not to mention the rollercoaster of emotions we feel. It has great advice on how to make the relationship better and has a very positive outlook. Anyone who is having trouble should read this book.

Dr. Gregory Guldner's book was genuine and applicable. Every aspect of a long distance relationship was discussed in realistic terms, often utilizing a real relationship to help explain different situations. He did not gloss over the difficulties of an LDR, but rather delved into them and exposed them. His tone was often optimistic, but I appreciated this pragmatism, as I went to his book for advice rather than motivation. After his realistic analysis of LDRs, his advice and suggestions were often very applicable to my situation. I would recommend it to anyone in an LDR or considering one!

In my reveiw of another books, I explained a few truths in the LDR field. As someone with a lot of experience in this field, both personal and professional, trust me when I say this book is also outstanding. Love in a relationship goes a long way. But love is constantly "motivated" by the sheer constant presence of a loved one. From the research I did prior to developing a website, www. longdistancerelationships.com, the basic problem with LDRs is that the distance removes the constant "in your face" motivation that geographically close relationships have. So it takes extra effort. Anything that can be done to minimize that effort and allows the couples to easily interact is what aids in maintaining a successful LDR.

This book goes several steps furthur than just a how to guide. It informs the reader from a scientific perspective. While I too have read the same studies and psychological research, it is too much mumbo jumbo for the average person in a LDR. Love is a practical thing that most average people can figure out pretty well, without the science. The problem has a lway been people falling out of love. There are many reasons for this. But most lie with the honest truth, "I just want to try anymore." That is why LDRs are so difficult. But where this book excels is how smoothly it incorporates the scientific data and practical advice. The tips a limited but very good ones.
