Saved our relationship!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Long Distance Romance Guide (Paperback)
This book helped save our relationship! I am away from home on business about 10 days out of the month. While not excessive travel by todays standards, it was enough to strain on our relationship. The chapters on tele-lovemaking, handling disputes and the monogamy issue were extremely helpful. I never considered myself a romantic, but the rituals and care packages chapters eased our time apart giving us a sense closeness. It's a well laid out handbook, making it easy to find what you need when you need it - my girlfriend loves the "Romanspirations" at the back of the book.

Keep this close by...,

I bought this after I saw the author on The Early Show with Bryant Gumbel. You can read this book straight through in a little over an hour, but the way to get the most out of it is to pick it up whenever you are seriously longing for your missing lover. The table of contents helps you target whatever ails you. The ideas I've gotten from this book have actually brought us closer. And the quotes and LDR-specific songs continue to give me comfort on lonely nights. Keep it by your nightstand, and have your other half do the same. I recommend this book to fellow business travelers.

The Long Distance Romance Guide is useful and interesting read - filled with inspiring ideas on how to keep a long distance relationship alive. Living in separate cities no longer has to result in feeling far away from the one you love. It is obvious that Ms. Karsner experience as an executive romance coach provides us all with the perfect insight into the easy to use principles associated with distance management for romance. On-line romance just became easier to maintain!

This book provided very few constructive ideas, and the ones that were given seemed obvious even to me, a novice LDRer. I also found it offensive that the book contained websites to get further info, which then encouraged you to buy more books by Ms. Karsner instead of giving new advice. Also, although the book is seemingly 124 pages long, the last 30 pages are for "Romanspirations" that you are meant to fill in yourself. I read the entire thing in 30 minutes. Overall, I didn't find this book helpful, and would not recommend it to anyone who is seriously looking for suggestions to improve their LDR.

This review is from: The Long Distance Romance Guide (Paperback)
This is a cute, quick and easy read. I sent it to my FI because he has no sense romance. If you want some fun ideas, I say pick it up. It is a cheap enough that you can buy 2 (keep one and send one). Promise to do something from it every month.

As someone with a lot of expereince in this field, both personal and professional, trust me when I say this book is outstanding. Love in a relationship goes a long way. But love is constantly "motivated" by the sheer constant presence of a loved one. From the research I did prior to developing a website devoted to lifes longdistancerelationships. the basic problem with LDRs is that the distance removes the constant "in your face" motivation that geographically close relationships have. So it takes extra effort. Anything that can be done to minimize that effort and allows the couples to easily interact is what aids in maintaining a successful LDR. This book provides excellent ideas in an easy to read format. Albeit some ideas are almost cheesy and some feel foolish but remember, in the name of love almost any behavior can be justified. So again I highly recomend this book and if you have any comments, feel free to email me at longdistancerelationships.comDr. Ashish |
