Amazing Single,

I am so impressed with the album "Human." And "Long Distance" is my second favorite song on the album (The title track is my #1 favorite).
This song reminds me so much of the diva ballads of the early-mid 90's, which is the type of song that needs brought back to the forefront of the industry. Brandy's voice sounds beautiful. I love how from the "Full Moon" album to the present album "Human," her voice has grown into a rich, powerful instrument. On her first 2 albums, I thought her voice was cute but it was so thin and could grate on your ears after a while. But now, her voice is so powerful and full of soul. I know this song will probably only do decent on the charts, nothing major. It's such a shame though because this song deserves so much success. It is miles above the ballads that are being put out by the Beyonces and Rihannas of the industry.

From the samples, it sounds like it's probably the best track on the album (save for True). C+,

This single is a ballad, and although good, does leave a bit to be desired if you are at all familiar with Brandy's catalog of great (and I mean great) hits.
A lot of what I heard in the samples sounded like filler to me and maybe it has to do with how long Brandy has been gone. I really, really hate to say this but maybe she's just out of touch. Right Here (Departed) is one of the better ones though, although it doesn't have that classic feel either. This song deals with a relationship - particularly between Brandy and her daughter, and how they are too far away and it hurts Brandy so. I learned this when she was live in front of an audience on TV. Don't know what channel, but she performed Almost Doesn't Count which was very acoustic and awesome to hear after so long and her current single then, this track. It's not a bad song by a long shot. But it's not a classic either. I hope this review was helpful. 3.75 stars = C+ end note: Take in consideration I have heard Right Here and Long Distance in full more than once.

Distance Has Been Disconnected,
By Michael Kerner "Michael Kerner" (Brooklyn, New York U.S.A.) - See all my reviews (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE)

When it has came down to Brandy, she seemed to get the ball rolling all over again on her career last year, after the tragic departure from America's Got Talent, and the embattles she had tarnished with her automobile accident back in 2006. But, unfortunately, she hasn't yet shown that well with charting back onto the music scene. While she had moderate appeal with Right Here (Departed), her second single from her album Human, Long Distance doesn't really strike a chord as well as her earlier songs. The song doesn't feel like it has the heart, mind and soul-driven strength as her stndard ballads from the 90's like Have You Ever and Sittin' Up In My Room. I really hope that the next single she releases, feels more it has strength that delivers hook, line and sinker.
